I traveled to several dealerships to show you guys what current inventory and easily identifiable discounts look like. Not only are interest rates super high right now but MSRPs have gotten out of control. Thankfully many of the dealers are finally coming back down to Earth on their pricing below MSRP.
Thoughts?

@@Seanenanigans Sort of. The whole reason giant SUVs and trucks are popular is because there are exceptions in safety and fuel efficiency for large vehicles, which were originally considered work vehicles. The importation of light trucks was also banned as part of the Oil Crisis. The limit is for vehicles less than 25 years old, so people are starting to import kei trucks and such but many are not road legal or are difficult to insure. So yes, the push towards huge vehicles was originally the result of regulations. But there is also the American idea that a $100k extended cab pickup that can't hold a sheet of plywood makes you a real manly man. There's also the American idea that driving on the freeway is basically Mad Max, nervous drivers buy big vehicles because they anticipate accidents and want to feel protected. Thirdly, minivans got a bad rap in the 90s, even though they're usually more practical than a full-size SUV and even though the full-size SUV is basically for suburban moms, they think it's cooler.

The reason they have 2 miles on them and have 1 owner is because, they don’t have to abide by Toyotas new car pricing because it’s no longer a new car. It’s a used car with 2 miles. So now they can charge whatever they want for it.

@@ThomasD66 so let's get this straight. You believe that the communist or fascist model of controlled shortages and market manipulation by insider trading, through lobbyist corruption is sustainable? It's like the 2008 housing bubble. It is notes written on product amounts that for one are highly inflated on purpose and two set consumers up for failure from the onset. It's pricing the average consumer out of both the new and used car market. It sounds to me like you are probably a slimy salesperson who's getting fat kickbacks off of stepping on consumer's interest rates. Am I right? I'm all for letting the buyers beware. I hope that folks wise up and put these car brands out of business by refusing to buy their overpriced crap. There's no reason other than market manipulation, for why a 40 thousand dollar truck has gone to 60 and 70 thousand dollars in the span of just a few years, other than the consumer is getting fleeced by the executive shot callers. It's not a sustainable business model for the long term. Their customers are going to be upside down on these vehicles for so long that sales are bound to crash before long. It's no different than big pharma getting their patients hooked on opioids. They made bank over the short term but now their customers are on the streets dying of fentanyl overdoses. State Farm says my house is worth $291,000, the tax office says it's worth $750,000 plus another $200,000 for the land. Just between insurance and property taxes I pay right at $2,000 a MONTH. I've dropped full coverage on my paid for vehicle, and have no health insurance because that's another $1,000 a month that I don't have. I'm working two jobs just trying to keep my head above water. I'm probably going to have to sell my house and move due to the taxes and insurance, but where I'll go I don't know. Thanks to all of our politicians, especially our dear president.

A shocking real world example of this is the cost of windowless cargo vans which quietly keep the country working in countless ways. In late 2019 my employer bought me a new 2019 Ford Transit 250. I looked up the invoice and the cost out the door with all taxes, titles and fees was $34900. That included a cargo shelving package that I picked out and they installed! I priced up a 2024 exact equivalent and it came out to $58.800! A little over 68% increase in less than five years! Obviously my employer was able to bargain a good price on my van but they tell me no one will do that now it’s sticker or more plus they charge extra labor to install shelving. This is really hurting small businesses that rely on these vans to get work done.

1. Most EV owners fail to preheat their battery before charging in the cold. Pre-conditioning warms up the big battery, allows faster charging and a longer range. Just need to learn how to use the technology. 2.Most people don't tow. So there's a market for tens of millions of EVs. Most pickup truck owners don't even tow. 3. With ranges of 300 to 400 miles, there's no range anxiety, especially when the vehicle is so smart that it tells you hours in advance the cost per kWh for electricity, when and where to charge, how many miles of range and how many stalls are available while also routing you with navigation. 4. True. Superchargers are great. Most people charge at home 351 days or more per year. 5. Also true, but they get fixed.....and most people charge EVs at home. Can be done while most people are sleeping and the grid has excess capacity. EVs get charged at home using about the same power as a clothes dryer, electric range, water heater, hot tub or heat pump HVAC system. And, the charging is mostly 2 or 3 times a week for about 2 hours. Superchargers get used a lot, but most Americans work 50 weeks per year and are commuting with their vehicle. Then they take regional trips near home on the weekends. Perfect for owning an EV.

I've researched the Cayenne and apart from a few known issues - the main one being the transfer case, they're a really good car. It looks like no one has ever sat in the rear seat in the one i bought - it's immaculate and drives beautifully. Even if it needed major engine work (the 2015's don't have a history of that) in the next few years, I'm a million times better of than the person that buys that Ram. Wow - crazy prices.

@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 that was Chevy, Nissan, GMC, Buick. It was usually a manufacturer goal, like 100% of last years Silverado sales, then a bigger bonus at 110%, 120% etc.. at some dealers, we’d sell 25 trucks and get an extra 1,500 a truck. But at 24 trucks, might only get $750 extra per sold.. then the “used” become CPO and get better warranty than new.

This is just crazy. I bought and had my first new home built in 1993. A nice little cap cod for $64,500. Now, this much for a fricking pickup truck that might last 75,000 miles before something catastrophic breaks. I wish Mazda would being back a truck as their vehicles seem to be priced relatively reasonable with a bit more reliability than most brands.
@AutomotiveAnonymous208

I’ve reviewed a lot of Mazdas and also agree they’re a well built vehicle. But their most recent pick up truck was actually a rebadged 3rd gen Ford Ranger. Which was in fact surprisingly reliable haha.

I bought a new work truck a couple months ago, other than that i havent shopped trucks in years. I had no idea they had gotten over 100k. America has been a consumer economy for many years and it’s starting to catch up with us. Our incomes are not keeping up with inflation. America is going to have to make some hard choices, one being to lower their expectations . Manufactures follow consumers wants/needs, consumers should learn to love fewer options, in every part of life.

Great insight and perspective of the unfortunate situation. The next one of this type of video I will post has a couple minutes of footage from this video as examples, with the majority being me and a 2024 brand new work truck that I use as an example of what trucks use to be about. It’s crazy that only Ford and Chevy now sell a regular cab half ton truck. 🤦‍♂️

I had no choice but to put together a fully outfitted garage/shop at home and learn to repair what I own. I found once I replace all parts the futur work on vehicle gets fast and easy. I would love to own a fully guaranteed new modern vehicle but I work very hard for my money. My favorite and most reliable vehicle I own in my collection is the 1982 Toyota SR5 4x4 pickup ( Hilux ). My every day driver that is most practical is the 2010 Hyundai Santa Fe AWD 3.5. I loved this car so much I bought a 2007 one with the 3.3 and dropped a Stinger motor in for fun and Ya its fast very fast and fun to drive. I can fix anything on these cars at a wim a I save so much money this way.

I mean look at what Teslas doing. The model Y performance is over 10K cheaper than it was 2 years ago, and currently can be financed at .99%. I know everyone’s not a Tesla fan, but other big companies can learn from their business model and ability to reduce prices as they become more efficient.

Sticking with my 25 year old Blazer for as long as I can at this point. Bought her wrecked in 2018 from a deerstrike for $250 before she went to the scrapyard. A couple hundred in parts from a junkyard donor got me running again, and as of now she only has 76,000 miles on the clock. Little bit of paint fade (expected) and the 4wd switch sometimes acts up, but she is a stellar vehicle
