Volo is my favorite villain hands down because he has the potential to be a recurring secret villain/super boss in each Generation moving forward

Volo was a scary dude lol I can't believe we didn't get some Major DLC from this game. I seriously hope the Legends line continues as it's own thing and not just a one off thing that's forgotten about.

If Volo will return it would be in a legends game He will be the antagonist in every one trying to reach arcues but failing each and every time thanks to the player Maybe losing his sanity each time he fails

I feel like the best plot for Volo return is this: Since he basically got sent to the distortion world first before Cyrus maybe they come across each other and possibly team up and try to get revenge on or with Giratina once again and find themselves back on our world/timeline…buuuut it won’t happen😅

My theory of Volo was that he WAS the Cynthia from his timeline. And during the Cyrus events He ends up taking control of Giratina instead.

as much as i highly doubt pokemon will have an “endgame” or “finale” (spiritual at least) it would be SO cool

I want them to bring volo back as a surprise twist or something in the new games to shock us! Maybe even a post game quest to stop him and he has an even better team you have to defeat

1:40 Volo as Legends Celebi villain would be cool I like the idea for Volo being from the future like he's Kang Maybe the games GS Ball can be that it's from the future with Volo An advanced poke ball that can capture time traveling Pokémon The Manga lore of being made from Lugia and Ho-oh feathers is cool so could be the material for it part of Legends Celebi story

I would happily welcome a Volo return. I also can't shake the feeling he has some connection to Lusamine as well. When he goes full villain mode, I saw as much of her as I did Cynthia.

Maybe he isn’t from the future but instead he gets cursed or blessed to live forever like AZ and maybe he helped cause the legendary dragon to split in the unovian past by getting the princes to fight, If he is effectively immortal mortal, he could be the cause of any problem in the past

Great theory, I definitely think he'll return one day, unrelated but one thing I want to see in a Pokemon game is for someone to make a big wish with Jirachi since I don't think we ever got to see Jirachi wish powers be used in the main series.

I don't believe that Volo is from the future however there is one little tiny line that might hint at it. At the end of his fight Volo refers to Celestica as "Ancient Sinnoh." Granted Old Verse 12 also calls it ancient sinnoh so its kind of up in the air.

Volo is the most dangerous villain because he's the only person who ever forced Arceus to get personally involved.

Could be that Volo is immortal, or partially immortal, rather than him traveling through time. Exposure to vast amounts of infinity energy can make someone immortal, as it did to AZ. It also typically makes them tall with white hair, like Cogita. If Volo is Cogita’s child or descendent, he could potentially be very long lived. Makes me wonder how long Cynthia will live, too.

My absolutely insane theory with very little basis: Volo is Colress. Either Volo retreated to the future (our present) to become Colress, or Colress went back in time to become Volo

MILD SPOILER FOR SCARLET/VIOLET DLC Hisuian Arcanine is still around...it isn't extinct. I thought it was too but then I found out In the new scarlet and violet DLC the teal mask there's a character named Perrin who is a clear descendant of Adaman from Legends Arceus. (Look her up and you'll see what I mean) She has a Hisuian Growlithe and once you complete her mission she gives you a Hisuian Growlithe that is the sibling of hers. which is a legends arceus callback to when you had to go deal with the frenzied noble arcanine and the two Growlithe siblings. Also the music when you battle blood moon ursaluna is the same as the legends arceus battle music. Although technically I guess they should call it sinnoh growlithe since it's not the hisuian region anymore it's the sinnoh region

I have my own theory, so it's gonna be long. Tldr at the bottom. Feel free to disagree with me. I like to think that Volo was influenced/brainwashed or even possessed by Giratina to carry out its will, especially towards and during the final battle. His end-game actions don't line up with everything else he did before. I personally think that he genuinely is as kind and friendly as he appears, and he's definitely a fast learner as well, given how quickly he understood how Pokeballs worked despite them being a fairly recent invention. Giratina gave him the ghost plate as a reminder of their pact (maybe a "Help me, help you" situation?) and sensing his frustration towards Arceus, the deity he worshipped, not stopping the tragedy that befell him when it very well could have. We don't know how long ago it was, so Volo very much could've been a child/ teen. He also could've had noble intentions of wanting to meet Arceus besides his satisfying his curiosity, such as wanting to ask Arceus to undo the tragedy or wanting to know why fate had it out for him. Giratina used that wish and twisted it into an obsession and made him follow its own desires of overthrowing Arceus instead, potentially subtly manipulating him over several years until the events of the game. Legendary Pokémon have shown to either be as intelligent as humans or even more so. I'm not saying that Giratina is flat out evil, just so hellbent on revenge that it's willing to do anything in its power to get what it wants. When he started laughing after revealing Giratina's existence to Akari/Rei, it might have been Giratina exerting more control over him and either Giratina laughing through him or him just trying to cope with the pressure it exerted over him. Him going absolutely raving mad was him succumbing to Giratina's control and being a bit more than a mouth piece for it, coming to a head when he summoned it to his side. After he and Giratina finally are defeated and Volo gives Akari/Rei the plate, he was freed from its possession but still was influenced by its lingering power, hence him lashing out again when seeing the Azure Flute and leaving afterwards in frustration, making that insane promise, which may or may not have been Giratina swearing revenge. Akari/Rei went on to catch Giratina and quell its rage, making it see the errors of its ways. After a lot of time. It probably hated Akari/Rei's guts for quite a while. We don't know what happened to Volo after that, naturally. Given that Giratina is flat out stated to be an "eldritch presence" it's not unlikely that it takes a bit of time to properly come down from that insanity. Or he fully embraced his broken mind. Tl;dr: Giratina could've, either accidentally or purposefully, controlled Volo instead of the other way around and Volo was more of a protagonist in a cosmic horror story than a flat out villain.

I feel like Volo definitely time travels. And the pokemon company is Ether going to connect it in scarlet and violet. I feel like scarlet and violet are getting another dlc. Or in the next legands game.

Gamefreak should have put out legends arceus first then bdsp out after. So legends comes out in 2021 in November then bdsp comes out in November of 2022 and then scarlet and violet comes out in 2023. For bdsp, they should have hinted to him in the postgame or somewhere in the game. With of course bdsp with platinum’s content, quality of life updates, and everything platinum added into bdsp. With normal size trainers in bdsp.
