There are many adaptions of Mulan's story. The original ballad, which is also the most popular version in China, did not talk about her parents' feelings, Mulan's martial arts or her love life. We just know that she has been through hardship in the war as a soldier, rewarded by the emperor, refused to be an official and returned home to reunite with her family.

I totally believe Mulan is real. There's a video I watched 2 or 3 years ago about historians finding what they believe to be the body of Mulan. She was buried with an old man, believed to be her father, and said she was much younger, possibly in her 20's, which is the age she would have most likely been when she took her life. Speaking of taking her own life, the thing that convinced the historians the most is a gash in the throat bone. Apparently she sliced so deep it reached the bone. I don't remember the title of the video, and I can't find it anywhere. The video may or may not be deleted. And if so, could it be a conspiracy against Mulan? Has the government or someone else been hiding her true existence and continuing to do so? Because maybe if we find out she's real, than what or who else could be real that the government might be hiding and trying to hide or silence? Maybe that's a little bizarre, but seriously, I swear on everything there was once a video talking about her body being found.

Tomatoa I saw several other videos based on the true story with the same Jon Solo fanboys attacking this channel and Screen Rant. It’s sickening to look through the comments of all these rabid mob members claiming ‘you copied Jon Solo’ all day. I guess seeing this channel with the same spammers was the last straw for me. I mean, it is 99% possible it could just be that these guys just wanted to upload a video on the same topic. Just because they uploaded coincidentally and this video had the same topic as Jon Solo’s doesn’t mean they copied him.

Tomatoa Yes. The original tale is a fascinating topic to explore. I wouldn’t put it past this channel for wanting to delve deeper into the lore of Mulan. Also, the new Mulan movie is coming out on, let’s see, July 24th? People all over the Internet are talking about this movie, so I wouldn’t blame this channel if they wanted to do the same.

Why does everyone Ignore the fact that China already made a Live Action Mulan? Mulan Rise of a Warrior is the best depiction of the story on screen that I have ever seen. Also read the original story again because some of the stuff you said was in the Ballad of Mulan isnt.

Belinda Enata they all are as well as the battles. If you’re an avid reader this shouldn’t even surprise you. Many authors use real historical figures as inspiration. Joffrey was based on Caligula, Robert / Henry VIII, Tyrion/ claudius, Jaime/ cesare Borgia. History is very interesting than fiction.

Lina Lin her story was based on the “the ballad of hua mulan”. A thousand years after that a play was written during the Qing dynasty. In that story there’s another female warrior named Xianniang. She might be real or not but her story was widely believed to be fictional. Her first version of the story was written in the 6th century which later became part of Chinese folklore.

In one story(chu ren hos mulan) she wasn't a hero after saving china. And the emperor wanted mulan to join his concubine she said no and went home only to find out her dad died while she was in the war so she committed suicide

I saw one story in mulan and i notice one thing It was said in there that as mulan was returning home two soldiers followed her and said that she wasnt mulan then the soldiers did nothing else aside from it. Then i was surprised to know that mulan was just happy for what the two soldiers said then i forgot what the ending is bc it was 2 yrs ago and that was the only part that i remember

You're actually right.. Disney Princes are either total jerks or don't have character at all. We need both good female AND male characters in animation. You get nowhere by putting too much focus on only one gender. Isn't gender equality the point after all?

Lady Hao of the Shang Dynasty (1st Dynasty of archeological record). Led a number successful military campaigns, including the defeat of the Tu Fang. Her tomb was uncovered with many weapons (usually reserved for the burial of warriors) among her other burial goods. Even the bronze age had it’s noted female warriors.

Stop saying "original version" when you're not talking about the original version. The original version we have is the 6th century folk song, not the later embellishments, and there is no mention of Mulan's love life, her father dying, her comrades realising she was a woman before she'd gone home, etc.

But the ending is that her father got well and mulan returned home but li shang did not accompanied him. And im one of those who believed mulan is the first female chinese warrior but i believed that mulan's secret identity was never revealed until she was honored by the emperor

have you READ the Ballad of Mulan or are you assuming the Disney live action is real history? The Ballad is 31 lines divided into two parts. Part 1 is her leaving for war to take her fathers place and sleeping by a river to mask the cries of her family. Then the story shifts to 12 years later when she returns home and takes up the life of a woman. NOWHERE does it describe her 12 years in the army or her training or even any fighting.

In the original animation, the Huns whom described as Mulan’s enemy are ancestors of modern Mongolians. Because Mongolia is northern neighbor of China, I think it’s safe to say that in the new Mulan movie they also described The Huns as their enemy. Also in some ancient scripts, it is said that Mulan is actually Mongolian warrior woman named “Hulan”.

Mongolian was not yet exist in Mulan era. Mulan=木兰，this is a Chinese name, and the original Mulan poem was also written in Chinese character, so Mulan was a Chinese localization XianBei race people. In the poem she was doing things in Chinese traditional culture way, Mulan was the northern ancient Chinese living in the Chinese territory.

There is no alternative ending for Mulan, the one and only original ending is that Mulan returned home and that was it, no love interest, no marriage mentioned, nothing at all. Any other versions of endings either made up by this KZfaqr, or Disney.

1.Mulan was not ethnically Chinese but a Xianbei, who later mostly assimilated into Chinese, Northern Wei dynasty only used tribal forces such as the Xianbeis and Xiongnu/Huns in battles, the Chinese were assigned as supply tasks to support the military, most Xianbeis were already experienced in military skills like spear fighting and horseback archery as they were from nomadic origins; 2.The major enemy of Northern Wei dynasty was Rouran, who were basically from the same origin as Northern Wei's imperial clan(tuoba xianbeis), but rourans were from lower class and they were left in Mongolia and Russia region by the higher class xianbeis who later established northern Wei dynasty in China, as the Northern Wei court became more and more Chinese culturally they increasingly despised the Rourans and insulted them as uneducated and dirty worms, historically the Rourans didn't pose much threat to Tuoba Wei, most of the wars fought between the two were actually won by the Tuoba Wei aka northern Wei dynasty.
