Similar story. I started a month ago for skin, hair, and joint concerns. I haven't seen any visible changes but my wrists feel like the did 9 years ago, before I developed a painful, undiagnosed condition within them. I finally feel confident I can go without my arthritic-strength NSAID which was a miracle drug for me. Cass's explanation makes perfect sense and I can know for sure they still had some healing to do now

I keep seeing influencers promoting orally taken collagen and the med schooler in me cringes all the time. They get super defensive if you try to biochemically explain it to them, but in the most simple possible way, considering they aren't scientists or in biomedical science field. Thanks for the videos like this. I hope they strike as many people possible because you say it as it is and you simplify it for the general public.

I'm very sorry to hear about your recent health issues and can appreciate how serious it was. I'm also sorry you have been left with some permanent damage, though the body is amazing and often learns new skills for coping. I was a RN (RGN here in the UK) for many years until spinal/hip issues forced some big life changes on me. You do and will get used to your new normal as so many have had to, after life changing events/illnesses. Small comfort initially, but ultimately life goes on and you so do you. I found the video very interesting and have been trialing marine collagen for joint improvement. My pain levels are no different, but my hair and nails have grown more quickly (not necessarily healthier/stonger, but certainly quicker). This could be due to the time of year, but I haven't had much Sunlight exposure due to quarantine for vitamin D etc. I live in Scotland so we don't have a high UV index for much of the year and it is Spring. I do wear sunscreen faithfully as I'm on tretinoin. but who knows. Be well and best wishes.

If you found this informative, you might also want to know about the forms of collagen. Capsules are more convenient for traveling, but powder works too and you can't really taste it. There's not going to be a difference in absorption between the powder and the liquid. And finally, collagen does not get absorbed through the skin, so don't count on that when using a cream. On the other hand, you might experience benefits from collagen cream from the other ingredients that tend to be in those creams, like vitamin A!

I cleared my leg allergies in 30 days no dairy no meat and I did ad collagen every day and a green juice every morning. I just have some scars 😞. Thank you for your informative videos.

I’m so glad you did this video because I’m always looking for something to help my body. Have you done a review of the Alani nu beauty supplements?

If you loved this video, you may find it interesting that while some people say that we absorb collagen peptides from cows better than from fish because we're more genetically aligned with cows, this is not necessarily true! There is also research showing just the opposite!

Casandra THANK YOU. I am a starving student and was so torn about whether or not to keep buying my hydrolyzed collagen. Dang girl you just saved me a ton of money.

@Gabrielle Boilard You've never heard "starving student"? Its an idiom, which means its not literal. I will assume you've never been a student and have lived your life under a rock.

@Gabrielle Boilard oh my! sorry I didn't mean for that to come across as rude. I have a very dry sense of humor that not many catch and i guess that goes for the internet too. Really just came here to thank Cassandra sooo you have a good one too

@@soniadesjardins280 I wouldn't say you have a dry sense of humour, I'd say you sound kinda annoying - being snarky (yeah, even if you were joking) on someone who was completely polite to you, acting like they don't know idioms? It's not like you've been rude to them... but the way you phrased sounded like you were kinda looking down on them. Not saying that you were, but it SOUNDED like it. That's not dry sense of humour. Btw from the contest of your comment I'd say most people would have taken "starving student" quite literally.

Such great information! I tried a moisturizer with adaptogens, but it made me break out - it was too thick/creamy for my oily skin. I used to take the protein shake by the same company of you drink. Keep giving us great knowledge 🙂
