Popular medicine has cast cholesterol as the primary villain in heart disease. But if cholesterol was inherently bad for us, why would your cells produce it? And how should you be interpreting the cholesterol test results from your doctor? Once you better understand cholesterol and how it interacts with other factors to cause disease, it is easier to adopt behaviors that lead to thriving health.

When I explained this information to my cardiologist, he told me all KZfaq doctors are quacks. He said he has 35 years of experience with heart disease and that I need to get on a statin right away. I had a heart attack 9 years ago and never went on a statin. I refuse to. Then my cardiologist stormed out of the room. Through the years I've been reading and watching about all these statins old and new, and I am deathly afraid of them. A trillion dollar industry. I guess the doctors and pharmaceutical companies just don't have our best interests at heart. If they did, they would have much better therapies available here in the 21st century. Guess it's all about the almighty dollar. Don't forget to eat your garlic.

My doctors have been trying to get me to take statins for decades, and I never would. This past March I ended up in the hospital with chest pain, and found out that I had an artery with 90% blockage. So they inserted a stent, and I felt better right away. Now I'm on blood thinner and blood pressure meds and statins. More often than not I don't take the statin. Not sure what to believe about the blockage and what to do to prevent it.

Any doctor who calls another doctor a quack is a quack themselves, and yes are in bed with big pharma, and I'm going to add probably worship the devil too. Sure, there are many doctors who just follow the big pharma "research," and do as they are told, but aren't doctors supposed to be smart??! Where's the critical thinking? If doctors are smart and refuse to look at outside research, then that's plain laziness.

My doctor will not prescribe statins. He told me to take vitamin K2 and cut out sugar. He also told me to use animal fat when cooking(bacon grease), avocado oil, and olive oil only.one reason fast food is so bad for you is because of the type oil they cook the food in. I did this and within 4 months, my cholesterol was normal and I lost 30 pounds.

That's amazing, what a doctor! My (young 20s-30s doctor, who I thought might have an open mind) is pushing me to a statin. She has referred me to a cardiologist who she adamantly believes will put me on a statin. My triglycerides and HDL-c are great, it's the LDL-c that's driving my total cholesterol to 6.8mmol/L. Unfortunately my calcium score is 230, just one artery seems to have plaque. There is a family history of heart disease. I continue to resist the statins as my lifestyle is healthy, with plenty of exercise, maybe I can tweak my diet further. Will keto help?

Zach Bush is brilliant. I never bought into the whole cholesterol myth. I am now 70 and I take zero prescription drugs. And I won't ever. I have had to stop eating bread because it makes me feel so ill which I now understand is due to glyphosphate in wheat. I put the joint pain that I do feel due to the impossibility to avoid it completely in the diet. BTW I do yoga on average 5 times a week.

@@BSinNH My Dad was on a statin for years, and lost his calf muscles, after being a very strong carpenter all his life. Anything I suggested he completely rejected, telling me that I wasn't a doctor. Everything his doctor said-he followed. Doctors have the kind of authority that no one else has. The problem is that doctors don't even suggest going on a high fat/low carb diet, I guess it's against their religion. A few months before he passed he was in terrible pain from his PAH, and on the couch, barely able to get to the bathroom. I pleaded with him to take the essential fat arachidonic acid, which turns into prostacyclin, which brings down high blood pressure, and which is given for PAH. I'd been telling him this for a year. So, despite his usual reservations, he finally took it. The next morning he called and said that he was feeling like his old self! I told him to keep taking it, like my Mom was and doing great with her blood pressure (she also had stopped eating carbs and ate a lot of hard-boiled eats, meat, fish, and butter). He saw his doctor 2 weeks later and the doctor said something like-I don't know if the arachidonic acid did any good, but "I suppose it didn't hurt", and he told him to stop taking it. He died a few months later. You can only get arachidonic acid from high cholesterol animal foods and animal fat, like egg yolks, dark chicken meat, pork, lard, butter, and liver. Try it yourself-there are many other great benefits to arachidonic acid, which is now understood to be a huge anti-inflammatory among the many other things it does. But, whatever your personal ideology is, please recommend the HF/LC diet to your patients, if you're a doctor-no one else has the kind of influence over their patients that doctors have.

OMG, I had to stop this video to comment in the middle.! You described my mother's and grandmother's demise perfectly. It was a very slow descent into inflammation of her joints, congestive heart failure, and it was heartbreaking to see people suffer as they did. I was her caregiver in the end and EVERY SYMPTOM you describe is how she was physically tortured to death. I carry the guilt for not knowing how to resolve her health issues, firing one doctor and watching another fumble it. Others were heroic in placing stents. My doctor pushes statins almost every visit which I refuse. Thank you, Drs. Hyman & Bush, for your work. I'm all in.

I've recently reintroduced goitrogenic vegetables and do feel a difference. The J&J vaccine didn't help, knocking me down for weeks with myocarditis and keeping those stats secret from the public I didn't appreciate. If you have high cholesterol (Total Cholesterol or LDL), do yourself this favor to assess if you actually have risks: 1) Get a carotid artery scan or CIMT - to actually determine if you have plaque build-up that can lead to stroke 2) Get a calcium arterial calcification (CAC) scan of your heart - to see if you have build up in your heart that leads to heart attack (myocardial infarction) If both tests indicate you have no build-up, then you can assess the need for medication. If one or both of the tests confirm you have build up (which is my case), then your decision to use medication in your treatment plan may change. Please make informed decisions about your actual state and not just blood tests. BTW...You can self refer for both tests at many hospitals, and the cost of the tests is very reasonable if you compare it to the potential outcome - stroke or heart attack. Also...plan to retest over time. Six years ago I had no measureable plaque (carotid or heart) despite having high LDLC for many years. Now I have both and am investigating 🔎 my options.

After 6 months on a Keto diet here is the result. Following symptoms vanished Heartburn Dry flakey skin Body itching Sensing things crawling on my skin or hair. Eyes look more clear. Feeling of comfort inside my body at all times. Heart palpitation. Sleep is much more restful if I am not disturbed by whatever it may be. Always some black heads somewhere on my face.. No more zits. I don’t get cuts easily. Stronger skin. A bump, ingrown hair on my leg for years just suddenly came off. At last poof. Overall blood pressure just dropped. Drop in blood sugar which to my view is quite a big deal. I would have never been able to drop the level if I had to rely on the damn doctor's advice or his cronies. No more dry nose which caused bleeding every so often. In fact, my nose is supple and soft. Not all dried out. My morning breath is not so annoying that I can’t wait to brush the sucker. I don’t feel bogged down.. Just a fresher energy. The air feels better and my mood is simply much lighter and better. I used to get light headed more often than I cared and that is gone. There was a strange, odd itch on the side of my left foot. I inherited it from my ex wife. she got it from someone else, it would appear every so often. It is no more at all. I get up less often at night to urinate. In fact I only woke up once last night. I say wow. Oh, no more bleeding gums here and there I used to get when flossing. No more back pain, neck pain especially when I get up in the morning. I tolerate cold and hot weather far better. Very interesting. Glass/shard in my elbows gone, I just don’t seem to notice any hemorrhage. Unlike before when my feet hurt after walking for a mile or two, I can walk for miles and miles without any pain whatsoever. -------------------------------------------------------------------- HDL-C went from 40 to 75 Triglycerides went from 225 to 50 A1C dropped from 5.7 to 5.3. Not sure how long I have had high blood glucose. Weight loss without hardship, 210 to 165 lbs. Average blood pressure dropped, systolic less than 120, diastolic mid to low 70. ================================================= AND THE ENEMY IS? I wonder what percentage of people who died of COVID we’re on statins and/or had high inflammatory markers before getting sick
@Nicksonian
@Nicksonian 2 жыл бұрын
Fascinating question. There is a lot of evidence that those far more susceptible to dying of Covid had metabolic syndrome. You can assume that many people with insulin resistance, etc., had elevated LDL and were therefore on statins.
@rubygreta1
@rubygreta1 2 жыл бұрын
That would have been interesting. What is the percentage of people over 65 who take statins? Lets say 30%. Now let's say 60% of the people who die were taking statins. Therefore, without a shadow of a doubt, statins make you vulnerable to Covid death. Of course no day was kept, so we will never know.

@@rubygreta1 I just signed up for emails from Harvard Medical, half of which I have already discovered are ridiculous. The last one about cholesterol-which they’re totally wrong about-they said the new calculation of whether someone should be on a statin now says that virtually everyone over 64 should take a statin. I think they’re literally trying to kill us. I would like to know how much money Harvard Med gets from BIG PHARMA.

@@NicksonianYup. I put in my numbers, which are really good. I also exercise and have 120/80 blood pressure. Never smoked. 6' 1" 175 lbs. Age 63. I need a statin. Interestingly, they ask of you've smoked less than 100 cigarettes in your life, (what a stupid question), but don't ask for your triglyerides, which is a key factor. Mine are rock bottom.

The problem - and they will NEVER say it like this because it challenges our entire food production system and is easy to fix - is OLD FOOD masked with preservatives, salt, fat, and sugar, so it tastes good and lasts on shelves (to maintain profits). It has another name = free radicals. Old food is missing electrons. Eat it and it steals electrons from your cells, breaking them down... And oxidizing LDL. If you ate only FRESH FOODS, you'd be perfectly healthy, even if you ate some fats and meats. But old oils, old baked goods, old breads, old cereals, anything in a box, is what we've eaten for decades and we're doing for it. Remember how farmers were the healthiest people? They ate everything, but it was ALWAYS FARM FRESH. FRESH milk, FRESH eggs, FRESH meats, FRESH grains, FRESH vegetables. That's it. You don't need meds, books, videos, supplements, nothing. Just eat FRESH food. Hint: this is why farmers markets are so popular.

Dunno if it'll be covered by the end of the video so I could be asking prematurely. My question regarding LDL cholesterols is, do we need to control it's volume? I get that it is essential but the medical industry doesn't totally condemn it. It raises a red flag after it rises above a certain threshold. So is it wrong about that claim? When I go to my healthcare portal to look up information on my lipoproteins my LDL is either within recommended ranges, or above, at which point some action needs to be taken. If this a false alarm? It's there a downside to excess LDL?
