Dude I've never understood the issue with flat feet. I've been athletic most of my life. I never had any problems. So it just puzzled the hell out of me as to why I wouldn't be allowed to join the army. Believe me when I say I've done my fair share of long distance walking. 29km, 5 days per week, It was apart of my job. No issues apart from hardened skin lol

Being flat footed myself since birth, currently 16, I never had troubled with running. My feet would hurt after standing for 10+ minutes and I naturally sway my body to help, but I could usually run fast if not faster than most other kids during P.E., and I'm a bit of a chunker. Being 5'7 I never had the lengthy body needed for swimming, and I was usually not fast with swimming either. Point is, depending on how your body shape is along with your flat feet determine your capabilities, just cus you have flat feet doesn't mean it's hard for everyone with flat feet to do one thing.

I'm not flat footed, but I did assume that I had some weak muscles supporting my arches. I always thought that my arches "collapsing" were due to that, but it makes a lot of sense that it's coming from the hips. I have relatively flat feet since I was little as it was genetically passed through my mom. Been doing sports since I was a kid and I’ve noticed no significant loss of performance output. I currently have a 4.6 40yard dash with flat feet so it shouldn’t be a concern for athletic ability if it’s just aesthetically with no pain. The only thing I complain about is the occasional shin splins and instability of the ankle. I’ve sprained both my ankles, one playing basketball and the other playing football and I think part of that is because of flat feet. The ankles need to be taken care of more often with flat feet since they could be more prone to injury.

I had normal arches before. Currently dealing with posterior tibial tendinitis (LOOK IT UP). that tendon controls your foot arch- runs from your calf.
