I have a trick for moving belts when they come with a dress or a sweater. I will cut off the belt loop at the bottom and reattach it above, effectively moving the belt loop up about 2 inches or so. Really works!

I've become a lot more conscious when purchasing clothes in recent years. It took me years to learn that you feel better and look better when you buy clothes that fit you well. As a rule if I can't wear it right now (it doesn't need to be altered) and a item can't be worn with other pieces I own I don't buy it.

You know that first pink dress you have shown, if you want to keep it, add a skirt on top of it. The lower half of the dress will work as shape wear and the top as a blouse. Very useful tips. Love the way you explain and show things.

Great pep talk! I need to shop my closet first since I have a ton of things I haven't touched in pretty much 2 years ; ) I love that you make distinctions of the kinds of bellies out there. I'm big around the middle but also just below so you are spot on when you pointed out that blousy tops with slim bottoms didn't work well. I see a lot of advice for just the broad middle, but not addressing a lower belly that is not related to hips or thighs. I also love that you showed so many examples of both the good and the bad. Well done!

3rd piece has been my go to for years!! And for some reason it makes any outfit look elevated, you always look “dressed up”😂 My go to “3rd piece” are blazers (cropped, boyfriend style, structured), kimonos, large scarf, jean jacket, button down tops… I steer away from cardigans unless it’s “relaxed” fit then push up the sleeves

For the pink mystery box dress, I would slit the sides at the bottom and wear a wide-tail floral skirt over it, with a wide waist-cinching belt using the top part of the pink dress as a blouse, like a crotchless bodysuit.
