@@josiah3820 The scripture before “Jesus wept” (John 11:33), says Jesus was deeply moved and troubled. So, I think you’re both right. He was moved with compassion and troubled that He would be leaving soon and they were pretty much clueless and therefore unbelieving. He knew their assignment after He was gone and they weren’t getting it.

It was just after looking at his mother that he wept. (At least on screen.) On seeing the grief all around him it looks like he has suddenly taken on board the grief that his own loving mother will feel during and after what is to happen to Jesus himself.

My initial reaction was the character is the embodiment of Satan, observing Jesus' power over death, the thing Satan fears the most. This is the last of Jesus' public miracles and immediately precedes the week that marks Satan's downfall (the redemption of believers and resurrection of the first fruits). He must stop Jesus at all cost. If I'm correct, you'll see him frequently in the coming episodes leading to the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus.

@Brandon Just from Wikipedia for time's sake "The separate headcloth is known as "The Sudarium of Oviedo, or Shroud of Oviedo, (and it) is a bloodstained piece of cloth measuring c. 84 x 53 cm (33 x 21 inches) kept in the Cámara Santa of the Cathedral of San Salvador, Oviedo, Spain.[1] The Sudarium (Latin for sweat cloth) is thought to be the cloth that was wrapped around the head of Jesus Christ after he died as described in John 20:6-7. .... Outside of the Bible the Sudarium is first mentioned in 570 AD by Antoninus of Piacenza, who writes that the Sudarium was being cared for in the vicinity of Jerusalem in a cave near the monastery of Saint Mark.

I really admire Tamar’s faith as Jesus said your faith is beautiful. She saw one glimpse of Jesus healing the leper and that was enough for her to bring her paralyzed friend to Jesus and trust that he will be healed even when Mary ask Could Jesus have stopped Ramah death Tamar say ask Jesus again showing that she goes to the Lord first and then again at Thomas’s show down she say we were called to see and believe the stone be rolled and the burial strips. Her Faith is truly beautiful she know pain and she know who can ease the pain as well

So way back in S2 E3, wasn't it Thomas who asked L James about not being healed? Way back then he said, I'm paraphrasing, "If I were watching him heal everyone I would demand he heal me." Now after Rama , he still has a similar response "If you do it for them, do it for me." So it seems this has been his character in the Chosen all along. ... 🤯 so much to think about.

Maybe the guy in the hood is a bandit, who has stolen and perhaps even murdered. He sees Jesus raising Lazarus, which might lead him to believe. This may cause him later, when he is crucified alongside Jesus, to profess his faith and ask for forgiveness. He becomes the so-called 'penitent thief' in Luke 23:38-43. It explains the hood and his furtive behavior, and his presence here at the raising of Lazarus gives a plausible backstory to his repentance.

Just some observations: I guess since Jesus and the disciples were not carrying lots of clothes they didn’t wear black. I was pretty appalled that the lawyer was talking about their private business in front of a guy! At least Martha shut him down, she didn’t look too happy… Reza has been so great as Philip; he seemed to keep a positive air when they were carrying the Roman armor, praying the Psalm with his hands raised, and his reactions are so good, he fits right in, his acting is right up there with everyone else’s.

You continue to point out background details (e.g. the significance of Lazarus having been asleep for 4 days) that serve to deepen my understanding of scripture. Laz was risen...meaning is spirit was United with his body of flesh and blood. (Same with the 12 year old girl that Jesus raised from the dead. Resurrection is when our bodies, after death, are reunited however our blood is replaced by a fluid that keeps us alive forever. Never to die again. Resurrection is a promise made to ALL who have ever lived on this earth whether good or evil. What a beautiful gift for ALL Gods children! ❤

But there you are.... The voice of reason.... Reminding me that (obviously), it's fictional on some accounts. You see? I know that. I do. But I hear it better coming from you because you're kind of "involved" with the process directly. I mean, you're IN it. Lolol. You really do them a huge service. I'm so happy for you, them, AND us that they're so supportive, yet don't try to control the narrative. We have enough of that in this world. You speak in truths. You are very clear. I thought the actor was Michael Steger, who played the zealot that came after Z. Bringing him back in might make sense if he will approach Judas with a plan to force Jesus to rise up and overthrow the Romans.

Excellent commentary. Thank you ❤ The scene was one of the “over the top” well done scenes in The Chosen so far. For me: the raising of Lazarus is second only to the walking on the water scene. I think the hooded figure is someone sent by Atticus to report back to him. For that matter, it could be that the hooded guy has been sent by Gaius, but that doesn’t make as much sense bc why wouldn’t the Romans just be there in full regalia if they had a chance? Maybe he has been sent to spy for a Pharisee like NIcodemus or Yusef,or even Shmuel.

I think it is James, Jesus brother. He's standing back, covered (hiding?), and runs away right after the miracle. We know his family is not a fan of his "position" in the family. Likely coming for Shiva and to see, check on his mother? Then runs to tell his brothers.

30:56 OPINION: I think the misterious guy is Barrabas. FACT: We see him again in the behind the scenes of season 5, particulary that scene were Kafni and his men cry "the Lord test the righteous, but his soul hates the wicked". That man is there, facing Kafni with his back to us, with the same outfit. I saw an instagram picture of him in some kind of office. That may be weird for Barrabas, but hey! We got used to different right? He could be arrested midway through season 5.

Turin shroud is not the "facial shroud," that's the Sudarium of Oviedo. Turin Shroud has full body images, front and back... with all the wounds and blood stains. Someone superimposed Jonathan R's face on the Turin shroud face... the features fit very well. The Turin Shroud inspired all those iconic portraits... the forked beard, hair parted in the middle. long nose, prominent cheeks.

I'd did not view Jesus wetting for the death of Lazirus. Nor for his sisters grief. I viewd the grutteral wetting as Hesus knew this sign would lead to his own death, and his time with the displces would be coming to an end. And what hit him the deepest is when he looked at his mother Mary and what she would be suffering through with his crucifixion,
