Two things: 1) Camper really is adorable! and 2) I can't imagine you moving back into Hotel Prius after getting used to a much larger rig. Perhaps that will be addressed with your "surprise" announcement next week. Thanks for the review of your time in the 4WD truck.

Having owned 5 trucks over my life (two Tacomas and 3 F150's), I find the Tacoma excels at anything off road, just a beast. However you pay a huge price in gas mileage and drivability, My recommendation is if you do more driving than off roading, stick to a full size truck, and if you don't care about highway driving and MPGs go with the Tacoma. You actually will do much better with MPGs when heavy with a full size and have a big enough gas tank to go 300 miles between fill ups. My weighted down Tacomas required fill ups sub 200 miles which is a real drag. The reason this matters, is with a full size truck you can go larger with the camper, more available and most often less money to purchase.

Id leave the Jackery behind the solar panel as the heat is bad for them so make sure they are in shade.

It was also casting a shadow on the solar panel. Clearly she was just sitting it out there so you could see it, to promote the product. In the real world, you put it in the shadow of the panels, or better yet run a wire to it in the locked vehicle to keep your $1500 gadget from growing legs.

I love that this camper gives you the option of going to all those "wild camping" spots that a more traditional camper would not allow. One can really enjoy nature with this vehicle. It's great that you were able to use this truck and camper to demonstate to others how it can be used. As always, I LOVE TO WATCH CAMPER. 💙🐾🐾💙

Remember to store your Key Fob in a metal or proprietary container when in the back. On some vehicles if the fob is in the back or nearby, the doors even if locked can be opened. Try it. Polish up those headlight lenses with Vinegar and Baking Soad or mild rubbing compound. 15 minutes, Done. Could you purchase it?

Alaskan camper is a solid two wall similar rig that raises and lowers. It’s been around about 50 years in many different configurations. I owned a new 8’ cabover model from 1975-83. It’s the best rig I’ve owned. Super insulation and I lived in it in Iowa in the winter for 6 months. Going forward it’s going to be a hybrid or EV travel rig.

Thanks for the honest review. Living full time in any RV creates a long list of pros and cons. For off-roading or overlanding smaller and lighter is better, but then it will lack storage. My first RV was a traditional 8' camper on a 1969 2WD F250 Camper special. The 8' bed allowed more storage. The other advantage was having Camper Jacks, so when we arrived at a campground I could have it off the truck in about 10 minutes. That being said it would not be my first choice for full time living. The really good news is that the choice of RVs, Roof Top Tents, etc. for off-road adventure is huge. Just a matter of determining where you want to camp and how much money you want to spend. A word of caution about 4WD adventure. When you believe it can go anywhere, you soon learn that it can't. Know the limitations of your rig and use the off-road apps (I recommend onX Offroad) to determine if you can make it to where you want to go.

Thank you for the great review of this rig! I agree as a solo camper, it's important to be able to move into the driver's seat & go without stepping outside. One question I have about Camper's front seat, is airbag safety. I always preferred my dogs in the backseat, or with the airbag turned off, thinking like kids, they weren't allowed in the front until they were a certain size. Not sure if this is an issue, just something I think about. Looking forward to seeing what you two do next! Thank you for all you do! ❤️

It's funny I get mixed reviews from people about their power consumption with mini-fridges. I also use the 6V method. Works amazingly well because their specifically designed for constant use for golfcarts. Driving a golf cart up a 20% dirt trail for 5 minutes made me a believer. Still weary of lithium, my whole "life" is in that van and I can't afford to lose it in a "house fire".

Hi Nikki, great video as always; I enjoy watching you and Camper on your adventures. From my perspective it looks like you need something with more storage, perhaps the ability to go in and out without having to go outside the rig. Be able to drive away safely. Also believe air conditioning and heating is a definitely possibility with a hard sided truck camper. and the difference in mileage is not that great between a hard side and a pop up. (Stronger solar panels and better batteries, I would also recommend) Lastly an indoor shower especially for cold weather. You are very brave, and tougher than the average person for sure. Best of luck to you and Camper!

Best option I've seen thus far is a sprinter van conversion. Large enough for amenities, but still has that low-key "work or passenger vehicle" look.

Great if you don't want to go off road and just wish to camp with the masses

I love the truck and pop-up camper though there are a couple of things that wouldn't work for me. 1) No built-in AC in the pop-up camper, and 2) Stepping outside the camper to walk around to the truck cab to drive away which is a safety issue to me. It is sharp looking and functional other that that. Thanks for the tour.

I love your channel... Pop-ups I like to a certain point. I myself need to have a pass through in case I got to get out of there. You know.

Nikki, The other day in a parking lot I saw a light green Prius just like yours and realized just how tiny that car is. What gets me is that all the stuff you had in your Prius you transferred to this truck it is STILL doesn't have enough room for everything you have. Did you accumulate more stuff with the truck? And where did you hide all the stuff in your Prius?

A Prius is far from tiny. Technically, it is too long to be allowed in some National Park campsites (for example 14ft limit at many Grand Teton NP sites, my Prius Prime is 15ft 3 inches long, and I've carried 10 foot lumber in it with the hatch closed). Except for the low roof, Prius has almost the same space as most SUVs. The Prius was clearly better suited to Nikki's needs (including personal safety, 24/7 climate control, workload, stealth, and fuel efficiency) than this truck popup camper, but of course she can't directly say that after they were so kind to let her borrow one for so long..
