I’m struck that a lot of the cons here relate to wearing a hair system long-term and the upkeep involved. As someone who’s also proudly bald but wants to have hair *sometimes*, I’ve been thinking for some time of ordering from a company like Lord Hair and making myself a mohawk I can put on when I feel like it, the same way I put makeup or jewellery on.

Omg I had no idea. My grandma wore hair systems for at least 15 years because she was very peculiar with her appearance even though she had beautiful silver-grey hair (that I only got to see when I was beside her bed when she was dying). I had no idea what effort it took maintaining them! By the way, you look really really good!! :)

Y’all is not alone! We do so much to ease our insecurities. It requires a team to maintain the hair system. I am glad the both of us are free from that now feel the natural air, instead of being hot sweaty and humid 😖. It’s like baking my brain

I use a full cap mens wig. It can get a tad itchy but it isnt too bad. I dont have to even use glue or tape or anything for it. It fits on my head nice and there is a velcro elastic underneath the wig I can use to loosen it or tighten it up. I just put it on when I go out of the house basically. You cant sleep in it or swim with it or shower with it. I didnt get a custom wig I just bought it online from a wig site that sells mens wigs. It is a HIM wig by Hairuwear.

Alex now you know what it feels like to be a black girl with braids. You can’t scratch it or else you’ll mess up the braids so it’s common for black women to say “pat it out” meaning pat your head lol. I think it’s something a lot of white people don’t even know but when I heard you say you had to pat your head I’m like wow that’s some black girl struggles 😂

Started shaving mine the first year of college. Started to get thin and i decided never to spend another day dealing with it

I spend £500 every 9 months to have a new system fitted and styled, I buy adhesive every 2-3 months at £20 each time, and I have a specific dye that works for me which costs £20 but I’ve only ever had to buy one bottle in the past 2 years and it is still going strong! You can definitely keep the price down if you need to👍🏻

I'm 29 and losing more and more hairs. I'm trans too, so there is this added layer of frustration because I feel like I didn't have enough years with my hair as a "guy" since I came out and all at 18. I know someday I might have to shave it because they will get too thin, and following you on instagram I remember I considered getting a hair system too because it looked really great on you, but now I'm not so sure haha. The money I don't care that much, but the itching and all the time you have to put it... Also you look pretty great with your head shaved and the beard so honestly it's giving me a little boost of confidence that I might not look too bad bald too. Thank you for that and all the info.

Shaved my thinning hair at 22, never looked back. Many medical pros suggest all these overpriced treatments that may or may not last. Lets all learn to be confident. You look fantastic man, I remembered your channel from ages ago, and its great to see you looking well and healthy! :)

How do you deal with the reaction of people when going from bald to a hair system or vice Versa?

They are fantastic... learn to do the maintenance yourself an it will cost about £25 per week... the confidence you get is worth every penny an they knock years off you.. The cons can be difficult to fit Itching Colour fading Maintenance requires 1-2 hours p/w.

Great video..ive been toying with the idea of getting a hair system...you have finally persuaded me not to bother..theres alot more work needed to keep them and your scalp in good condition...im not that well off so the long term expense is another factor to put me off...anyway just like you i think we look better naturally bald as long as the hair left is very short..Thanks again Alex.

Yes, 1st timer should go to a saloon to do it. Yes, there’s a steep learning curve to do this on yr own. Yes, I keep it on only weekly cause I do sports. I use got2b glue hairspray. 1 spread for daily , 2-3spread for 1week stick on. Easiest to clean & put on. No, u don’t have to go custom. Stock is fine Yes, cost not too costly if u take care of it yrself & not custom. I have been wearing systems for 25yrs.. back in the day it was horrible! Now hair systems r practically undetectable.

I've worn wigs daily for the last 6 years, and would never want a hair system. I wear good synthetic wigs, all rrp £150-250 and I pay between £10-30 on ebay for new with tags or nearly new. I wear rooted ones and may with lave front so are undetectable. No hlue, mess, or aggro- takes 30 seconds to put on and style and extremely light, comfortable and easy to wash. I don't go swimming anyway so that makes no difference to me, and I take it off in the evening.

Thank you for this video. Some years back I had a consultation for a custom hair system and it was really expensive for the initial system and ongoing maintenance. Price along with long wait for the hair system to arrive and the fact that I did not like the person I would be dealing made me decide not to move forward.

I don't think I could put up with the gluing, taping, etc., plus having the type with the membrane would cause itching, sweating, etc. Then, there is the removing process, cleaning (removing adhesive took a while in another video), then going through the process all over. I've also noticed some colours don't match the exact shade of the wearer's hair, even though they've likely bought the closest shade they can get. Thanks for sharing this.

i try one for the first time this next week just because i wanna have the feeling of being complete again with full hair. but its a prostetic - its something that doesnt belong to your body and it will take away a piece of your freedom. it would be best accepting being bold but i just have a bad bone structure and pale skin that makes me look like a chemo patient without hair. it really depends on your overall look. if you look like bruce willis- being bold is sexy. being tanned also helps. but if not you just look ill and that always bothered me. What about sweating? i have the lace now and i just put it on my head for a while and instantly felt more warmth. in the hot summer i think that could be a problem. Don't to medication guys! Thats the worst i did to me using propecia- it helped stop the hairloss but it came with bad side effects like hormonal disfunction and heavy depression!

There are two types of balding men: ones that can rock a bald look and ones that can't. If you're the former (like the dude in the video), you're golden. If you're the latter, you're fu**ed.

Ive been wearing for 3 years. Most of the keeping part he mentioned to be annoying is just because he's new to it (he said he had only 4 hair systems) ... After you get used to it, to the logistics, it becomes really easy. It's like when you get into a new job, the beginning can look difficult, but then you become faster at putting it on, taking it off fast and gently, you learn that you need to always have 2 or 3 pieces at a certain time in case anything goes wrong, you learn yo stock up glue and tape. Also, your skin does get used to it and it becomes less itchy (lace systems are a lot less ithcy than skin ones). Many users have been doing daily tape so they can take it off before sleep...

Would you recommend micro pigmentation? My sides really grows quite fast and the top part of my head grows slow and sparse in which I can see my scalp.

these hair replacement regimes are good for wealthy, office execs, people in the media, frequent public appearences in a dress controlled environment. its basically theatre. i couldnt stand sleeping in it or living my casual life with it. too restrictive, too much fuss, too much thought and attention required. scalp health and comfort are a big concern .... im bald but it makes more sense to have a it cover a full head of hair rather than just the top piece... avoid weird sides and mismatched color.....for me, unless i was a entertainment media or celebrity type .. why would i want that?

Spot on mate. Walking out the place or maybe even a day or two later the thing looks amazing ! Your confidence is through the roof! It’s literally like being a new person! BUT it’s expensive! That expense plays on you ‘stretching out’ salon maintenance, doing a bit of DIY This is the important bit I think, YOU Look at yourself all the time, subtle changes you don’t notice, so gradually this thing on your head looks absolutely shit! Like a bad ‘skit’ EVERYONE is laughing behind your back! EVERYONE knows! I had kids calling me ‘hey wiggle what you up too?’ And you can’t knock out a 14 yr old, not in public anyways 😂. Possibly one of the most cringeworthy days of my life! The itch was insane! The constant ‘planning’ everything about this stupid wig, like holidays etc. Unless someone can afford a new system a month and a professional reattach a week, I’d say don’t do it. I actually envied bald guys at the time to be honest ( after the few times I was dying wearing it). The day I ripped that thing off and binned it was amazing! BUT!! I miss that feeling you get from people, when you look frigging amazing for that few days! But it’s not worth the constant stress( analysing every look ‘do they know.. can they tell, is it on straight?) or the financial burden
