After watching this video, would you try to extract your oil? Do you already have one? Comment below!

No way but I would use the extraction method on my lawnmower. I've been changing my oil for 57 years (driving an average of 25k to 30k miles a year). I've never stripped a drainbolt. Currently I use a torque wrench to make sure I don't strip the drainbolt or over-torque the oil filter cap. The biggest danger at my age would be forgetting to put the drainbolt back in or forgetting to fill the engine with new oil. 😁 I was impressed with how well that extraction method worked! Thumbs up for sure.

I think its a cool and fun idea, but my current method is the most effiecent in my case. my 08" Tundra "Stormy" on 35' tires, is lifted enough that no lifting is required to access the oil drain bolt or oil filter. I have a Fumoto valve installed on my oil pan instead of a drain plug. It has a 3/8 hose attachment. I just slide under with my hose and catch can, attach the hose and flip the release valve open. Stormy drains in less than 2 mins with the oil warm and makes no mess. The filter is self explainable. I have consistently drained 6.5 quarts effectively every time, that leaves .1 quart in the engine as my capacity is 6.6 quarts. I have my transmission set up the same way as a swap trans fluid every 15k. so far 258k miles and no issues.

@@zohanthecat thanks for the reply. It reminded me of my comment. I’m an idiot, I was trying to go down where I pour the oil in! I am a 🤡, worker much better down the dipstick. But if you want to change the filter it was still a messy job. Thus thing has been handy for radiator flushes etc though

I have one and I love it. I did the same procedure, the first time I checked the amount of oil left in the sump after sucking it out, a tablespoon was left. Brilliant idea and cuts the time for an oil change in half plus a lot easier and cleaner.
@davva360
@davva360 2 күн бұрын
I think it depends on the vehicle. When I did mine with the extractor i pulled the drain plug and there was NOTHING left in. But I have seen other people use them and it left a small amount of oil in there. My oil filter is also on top of the engine so this makes the whole process very easy for me. No going under the car at all.

I think this is a great option if you have a 07-09 fj with the filter up top but if you have a 10 or newer with the filter at the bottom of the engine you have to get underneath the truck anyway

I installed a Fumoto drain valve on my Frontier for a much easier oil change. My truck has aftermarket skid plates which makes it hard to get at a regular drain plug. I simply kick the drain pan under my truck, reach in to turn the valve, and then I sit down to drink beer while gravity does the draining for me.

These valves seem very popular! Maybe one day I will try it out...seems like fun

Sorry man, that’s a dead end sponsor. Anyone changes their own oil will be less likely to strip the drain plug than Some underpaid grease monkey. Find a way to relocate the Fj oil filter BS and you’re going to have a winner! Sucking “most” of the oil out the tiny dipstick is crazy. Draining oil is easy stuff for anybody with a socket wrench and an oil container. Sorry
