As a new C8 Corvette owner, I've had to make decisions on what my build was going to be (1 LT vs 2LT Z51 Package etc..), I've had to break it in from the factory, and best of all, I've had to get used to a new mid engine sports car platform. In this series, I share with you what it's like to be a new owner of the 2020 Chevrolet C8 Corvette with the Z51 package and the Magnetic Ride dampers.

I'm with you. The 1LT is a fantastic value. Electronic gizmos are nice but some how Corvettes have existed for almost 70 years without them.

Yea, I wanted the least amount of weight, and really the heated seats and everything else was likely not going to get used much if at all.

For 70yrs mid-engine Corvette didn't exist! For general public (who are used to drive big open vehicles) the Rear Camera Mirror, Blind spot and Rear Cross Traffic Alerts are Safety MUST-HAVES! Can save you a lot more than $7K!

Totally agree, love my 1LT HTC. BTW the HTCs all get the rear view mirror camera included, I was not expecting it. Also, when you get the Adrenaline red seats as you do, you also get the red stitching for free, it’s not free otherwise. I thought I would add heated seats via aftermarket, but after driving roof down in 35 degree weather, I’m not convinced I need them. (All my convertibles have had heated seats)

Nothing wrong with LT1 the point is your driving a Corvette that’s a blessing in itself I’m more excited about my 2022 LT1 in hypersonic gray on the way than I am excited about the Z06. Maybe I can afford the Zora model but I think I’m going all in with my LT1. Might turbo it or supercharge it might get some of these amazing kits I’m just super stoked to own a C8

This is a sports car with power windows, power brakes, telescoping steering wheel, power seats, a computer screen to access all the interior functions, all the fluff in the 2 and 3 Lt lasts about 6 months and then I forget half the luxury features. I’ve been daily driving new corvette z51 s or z06s for decades. Only car feels need or are aware of the luxury differences of higher interior trim levels. Glad you are enjoying the c8 z51 for a couple of years. Great sports car that makes a great daily drivers

That is the exact interior I ordered on my 1LT, red seats with black interior.I ordered Elkhart Lake Blue, with Z51, and mag ride also. Just waiting for the allocation next month and the order gets picked up.

I fully agree. The only thing I would possibly want is the cameras. The front cameras especially. ,but you can do without them. This really is a case of less is more even if you never see a track.

Met a guy with a new C8 a couple months ago , he paid 85K. I own a '91 NSX , the original owner paid 83K, 20K over list. Yes the new Corvette is one heck of a bargain.

What did you plug your radar detector in Since there is no power to the mirror in the car. I assume you plugged it in to the OnStar or airbag? If you can share that with me it would be appreciated I also have a one LT thank you awesome video by the way

Great vid. The only question I have, is if you are a track rat - why not the competition seat add? Do you find the base seats hold you firmly in place? I’m worried about siding around in the leather.

Great advice. If you are storing the C8 in winter, you don't need seated seats. I would like to hear your comments about about blind spot(s)? have you heard about the Paragon wide angle mirrors? txs

Honestly, if you set your side mirrors properly, blind spot isn't an issue, and the rear view camera isn't necessary.

The truth is it's amazing. Most of us don't need the z51 package, and while the heads up display and mirror camera are cool, you can enjoy it just fine without it. I do think it's worth adding the performance exhaust though for like 1k.

I have a brand new 2023 HTC 1LT with mag ride and optional performance exhaust.Very happy with my choice.If you dont track the car its fine on the road.My brother has 2022 2LT HTC with Z51 and mag ride and his car is faster than mine,holds the road better and brakes are a lot better than standart brakes.On the track,i cannot keep up.Its not the driver if we exchange cars he cannot keep up.The Z51 package is superior on the track in every way,the limited slip diff makes the car react a lot better at higher speeds,but on the road,dont need lt.

I'm thinking I'll be going more to the local track days in the corvette, the more casual track days at Pocono or NY safety track, Monticello, NJMP etc... For competition, I'll be using the trailer and the Type R

I’m also looking at getting a corvette. I’m on the fence between the lt1 and lt2. Is the lt2 worth the money? This will not be a daily driver. It’ll be fun summer Sunday car. Any tips I’d appreciate. Thanks

I watched your videos as I waited for my Civic Type R. I love my Type R. I did the same thing to my exhaust as you did to the Type R. If your up to it I’d love to hear a comparison between your experience with the Type R vs the Corvette. Maybe the strong resale of the Type R can help pay for a new Corvette.

As far as bang for buck value, the Type R and the C8 Z51 Corvette are in leagues of their own. It almost feels like you're getting away with something. If I had to only have one car for everything, it would definitely be the Type R. both the Corvette and Type R have incredible resale value, you just can't go wrong. As far as driving dynamics go, I'm so used to FWD, it's taking time getting used to RWD. I haven't publicized this yet, but after selling the C8 Z51 I got myself a 2022 ZL1 1LE so I could practice RWD at the track.

@@FlyinGato Thanks for the reply I talked with a man who had the new Corvette with the Z51 package and his wife did not have it. He said the Z51 was a bumpier ride on most roads so that kind of talked me out if it. I guess it’s all about what kind of roads you drive on.

I have the camera mirror on my Camaro ZL1 1LE, I like it, but I wouldn't miss it, I think the 1LT is still my choice. The ONLY thing I would want the 2LT for is getting the red inserts on the competition seats.

the front is pretty low, and I'm actually going to lower it a bit more, but I'm not worried about the front lift, I'm already used to going sideways into driveways to not scrape things up. It's also a cheap and easy piece to replace on the this car, so it's not something I'm too worried about

nah, the brakes are excellent, the stock Z51 brakes are all you'll need for the road. They do create a lot of dust, but that's kind of expected.

I used the camera rear view mirror in a rental Chevy before - it was disorienting to refocus my eyes. Maybe after a while I would get used to it. I would want the 2lt for the hud.

The HUD is a good addition, but the dash is so good I don't really miss it. As for the cameras, if this was more of my daily driver I would probably want the cameras too

I would avoid paying markup if possible, but for track day people Z51 is a must, otherwise, just get mag ride (separate option for 2021)

I have a 2020 Genesis 3.3 Sport with heated and ventilated seats and I can tell you ventilated seats are awesome I would never buy a car without them who cares about heated seats in a Corvette you're driving it in the spring and summer for most normal people. I'm surprised to see yours on the road what tires do you have on that I'm assuming all season because you live in Pennsylvania. If I could have a second car I would definitely like one of those.. is your type r not your main track car if you take this to the track some guy in there modified $10,000 STI is going to scratch you up does that not worry you at all?

Thankfull I haven't experienced ventilated seats so I don't "miss them" lol. I'm on the PS4S summer tires, has less grip now since the temps in the 40s, but as long as it doesn't snow the car does just fine! My Type R will be more for competition and racing, what I'm looking for is a nice car I can take the wife to dinner in, and then the next day do a track day with little to no prep work. The Type R requires a good amount of prep, so for those more casual track days, I want a car I can just hop in, do an hour or two of laps, and then just drive it back home without too much hassle.

A ZL1 is a bretty close competitor, and it even has mag ride, but even.woth that, it can't match the performance of the C8 on track

If the 2LT cost the same as the 1LT guaranteed you’d go with the 2LT. Only poor people worry about the insignificant cost between the 2. A 7k option with Lamborghini gets you different color stitching on the seats or a roadside tool kit. This option would run 50k plus on other supercars and he’s worried about 7k.

Yes, these cars are sold for a really low cost, be aware that when it needs service be prepared to pay major cash. Shop around How much is a blower fan? it runs summer/winter Tires What if your windows don't go up and down, cost of repair Yeahhhhhhhh BUDDY A garage is going to suck the money right out of your wallet

The one they will sell here in Switzerland will be the full deal version. I've heard it'll be CHF 118'000 which is about $ 134k Guess what, that is a rip off! Insane price hike, not all for taxes or not, it's what they think they can get away with here. The land filled with very expensive cars.

I agree. Only reason for a 1LT to exist is so GM can brag about the C8 being $60k. But let's be realistic. Who wants to get an option-less C8 unless you're broke? Might as well get a Corolla if people are gonna be cheap.

You have a 2LT and you think you should have gotten a 1LT...literally you're the only person in the world saying that.
