*Built My Own PC(FIRST PC Build) Running AMD Ryzen 5 with 32GB of Ram and I use Adobe Premiere Pro and Rush and I shoot all 4K except my Hero 9 5K and I have no issues but I tried Final Cut Pro trail and it's nice but I prefer Rush if I didn't wanna use Pro because Rush is simple and can do A LOT.*

7 year old MacBook Pro with the i7 process 16g ram and 1 tb storage, configured at the time to the best you could buy and iMovie. As soon as a MacBook Pro comes out with a bigger screen I will be updating.

I'll toss in another data point here. I edit my 4k Canon M6 MKII footage on an M1 MacBook Air (16 GB of ram) in Premiere Pro, and it's fantastic. No stuttering or skipping. What a machine!

I can’t see how this can be done because macOS Big Sur is a memory hog. It’s a really bad OS visually. Looks like an old version of Linux.

Thank you both for doing this video. I love the fact that one is a Final Cut Pro user, and the other is a Premiere Pro user. The little back and forth at the start of the video was funny and refreshing. The content of the video is actually very nice, well thought out, and I love the fact that you both used it for 6 months before wanting to talk about it gives you both a lot more sway than people that use it for a couple of hours, then pronounce good or bad.

If anyone uses final cut pro for their video editing, the M1 chip in *any* mac device will give you an amazing experience. Rendering time, performance and read/write speeds have been outstanding and you honestly can't go wrong! 💪🏻

The M1 MacBook Pro replaced the base model intel MacBook Pro with the 2 thunderbolt 3 ports. The higher end intel MacBook Pro is still being sold today and has 4 ports. Rumors suggest that a 14 inch MacBook Pro will be coming out to replace the higher end MacBook Pro 13 inch model as well as a 16 inch MacBook Pro to replace the invaluable 16 inch Intel MacBook Pro. Both Intel MacBook Pro‘s being sold are pretty much invaluable, with the 16 inch only winning a couple of tests against the M1 MacBook Pro and the Intel MacBook Pro having an integrated GPU processor that is way less powerful than the one found in M1 MacBook Pro.

We use an A7SIII for many of our videos, recording in XAVC HS 10 bit 4:2:2 and then editing that on a M1 MBP with 16GB of ram and it works pretty flawlessly for us. We don't color grade or anything crazy, just turn on the camera and go. Also edited some of our videos on an M1 mac mini with only 8GB of ram and it too has worked very well for us. This is using FCP exclusively.

I just bought the Mac Mini M1, moving on from IMAC 27 2015, and has being terrible, I open a library in m1, and I have being 3 days tying to render de video and always failled, Mac mini crash, have to force to quit, for 3 days in a row, how is this product amazing as you say in your reviews. most of my pluggins are from motion fx, also some of their pluggins are not working, I have to use the FCP Rosseta command., it is frustrating on my old mac, I spend 30 minutes to renderize my project 55 minutes, but mac mini 3 days and still trying, this is terrible. any Idea of why is happening.

I picked up a Mac Mini M1 when they came out. I use Final Cut Pro for my Titans of Transition KZfaq Channel and it’s made a huge improvement to my workflow.

Just updated Premiere Pro to the latest version which is M1 optimaised for my M1 Mac Mini 16GB. Will be interesting to see if there's a noticeable performance change!

update? Has premiere pro finally been optimized for the M1chip? I want to use a M1 mac mini 16GB ram to edit some 4k30 and 4k30 and HD using premiere. I just want to make sure the mac mini can do it -even if it takes longer to render and export-as long as I can edit and the M1 won't be freezing or crashing on me while editing. My projects range from 5min to 90 min and I use a SonyFX30 at 10bit - XAVC-S codec at 200 or less Mbps...I will use some lumetri but nothing too serious. And I don't want to use proxies. that's it. I just need your honest opinion...Thanks

I opted for the M1 MacBook Air 8GB RAM, 512GB SSD to replace my aging 2014 MacBook Pro 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD. For what I do in Final Cut and Lr/Ps it works great and in the case that my workflow gets heavier, hopefully by that time, the newer generation MacBook Pros are available. If I've had almost no issues while using it. The original MX Master has a few hiccups while being paired to the MacBook Air, but it's mostly when using the customized buttons, so I believe that the Logitech software is to blame here, because Bluetooth connectivity seems to work fine. But from what I've read online, the MX Master issues are present in all generations.

Recently switched from Premiere Pro to Davinci Resolve, no turning back. It's like they're not even in the same league! Great video, have my eyes on the Mac Mini but waiting to see what the next generation of Apple chip will bring to the table.

for running Davinci resolve you will want a machine with more than 16 GB of ram and a much better graphics solution than currently offered, which is barely the equivalent of a gtx 1650 with 4 gb of ram

@@amitkumar1.047 The program most people are having success with is final cut pro with 8gb. While there are videos of people using Resolve on the M1 mac, it seems to rely on fairly basic editing. Add in Fx and sound editing and it slows down awful

Thanks for a great video and this is timely. . I'm using the 2016 Macbook pro and it does well (most of th time !) editing 4K videos from my Canon 90D in FCPX. However I have tried editing 10 bit clips from my GH5 and the computer just grinds to a halt! Thinking about the M1 Mac mini with 16GB of RAM. Wondering if this would be good for the 10bit 422 video editing using FCPX.

That Premiere doesn't work correctly on the M1 while Final Cut and Resolve do isn't a problem with the chip. It's a problem with Adobe not being able to upgrade their program to work on the newer M1 Macs. Since the M1x Macs are coming in the near future they need to get it working correctly or risk losing even more market share to the 2 aforementioned programs.

This is good news!!! I purchased this MacBook Air M1 about 6 months ago as well. Still trying to figure it out because I am a windows person. However, I love it! It is very fast. I have been using the IMovie for video editing though. Still experimenting and getting use to it!

I have an M1 Air, (16GB). I tried editing 5 streams of 1080. It did ok at 1/2 quality for about 10 mins. Then had very bad choppiness. Dropped to 1/8 quality and still very bad. Like 6 fps and stutter alot. I stopped my editing for the night. Woke up yesterday and heard M1 native version was released. Installed and gave the edit another shot. Holy shit. Had the same 5 streams at 1080 running at full quality mode and it was flawless editing experience!! A small stutter like every 8 minutes but it wasn’t even noticeable. Im completely mind blown 🤯. This machine doesn’t even have a fan!! Im full in on M1!

I love my M1 machines. Really where I’ve seen it struggle is multicam on FCP with four 4K videos, two of which being Sony 10-bit X-AVC S files. Nothing proxies couldn’t solve though.

The lower end Intel version of the 13 inch MacBook Pro that the M2 replaced only had 2 ports. Only the higher end 13 inch MBP had 4 thunderbolt ports. The only changes to ports for the M1 model was with the Mac Mini.

Hey guys!! I've currently upgraded to the Mac Mini. Opposed to my iMac late 2015 using a ssd external, the investment was worth it. I can edit my videos fast without any crashes along with a smooth production in photoshop also! Great video guys! I love your thoughts on the M1 chip. Let's see what the M1X has to offer.

Yeah, adding space into the sound isn’t bad - but in the context of YT we are all use to hearing a dry voiceover mic. For the future, definitely not concerned with hearing ‘space’ with reverb and delay.

I would like to correct Omar that the previous MacBook Pro that the M1 MacBook Pro replaces, only has 2 thunderbolt ports as well. The 4 port 13” MacBook Pro is still there (not that I would recommend that). Eventually Apple will replace the 4 port MBP with an Apple silicon variant.

They kind of did, in the Mac Mini and 24” iMac. The mini has the most ports, but even the iMac has 4 USB C ports, two of them are Thunderbolt. Plus that screen is really nice.

I still have not seen a proper video about using a m1 with 4k braw in a bigger timeline. I heavely rely on the macPro5.1, 6core, 32gb ram, gtx1060 6gb. Works great but has start to show it’s age indeed. Hold on for next gen or just go for it?

Are you using Resolve? I'm assuming so with 4k braw, and I would wait until next gen comes out with access to 32gb ram, and better graphics. current M1 graphics not as good as your current gtx 1060, so acceleration will go backwards

I'm currently running Premiere, After Effects, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop on my Custom PC and I really wanna move back to MacOS now for its ease. Should I consider it? Here's my current spec which has been enough- Ryzen3600, 6GB 1660Ti, with 32GB 3200Mhz RAM and 1TB nVme 4.0

if this rig is working for you why would you spend the money to move to Mac OS? You will have to spend a heap of money to switch, and those programs are going to work the same on Mac as they do on PC, so what benefit do you actually gain?

@@joelalexander7683 so as of right now, I don’t have either just cause I’m waiting to see if they will release a rumored newer Mac Mini with an improved M1X chip. But I’m leaning toward the mini because of the amount of ports it provides, and I have a decent monitor I work on currently. Along with a my iPad and MacBook I have for work that I can use for video calls, saving the few dollars just seems like the right fit for me personally! Hope that helps man

Adobe recently rolled out the native version of Premiere Pro for M1 in the latest July Update. Let´s see how it will perform.

Now it'll work just fine! Adobe actually release their M1 version of the software! I would recommend that if you really do plan on editing - to spend the extra and upgrade it to 16!

I went from editing videos in iMovie on a 8yr old Macbook Air to the new Macbook Pro with Final Cut Pro X and WOW! Using the touch bar with Final Cut really speeds up the editing process. I shoot with a Canon M50 so editing is quick & easy or at least easier. I've had my Macbook Pro for about 3 months now and the fan has yet to kick in. Until Nolan mentioned it I forgot it even has a fan.

I currently have a PC desktop, with intel i5 CPU and a nividia 2780 gpu , I have davinci Resolve, but I just have a GoPro action camera, so nothing fancy. But I am thinking of getting an M1 Mac mini , or M1X/ M2 upgraded version. 90% of my computer work is documents, and 10% videos, but from what I have seen of these M1 Macs, definitely worth a look,, probably work even better.

I use DaVinci.. I assume I won't have any editing issues. I'm purchasing the Mac book air 16g 256g.. The M1 eats up whatever you throw at it...

I’m a Mac guy and love the MacBook Pro M1. Only issue I have occasionally is on exports. The video exports with green glitches. Haven’t figured out why yet and it’s very infrequent too. One question Nolan your screen recordings are so clean. What program are you using for that?

So I have no idea what I'm doing wrong... I've got a 202 M1 Mac Mini with 16GB and Premiere runs like a dog... currently, I'm exporting a 34-second 1080p sequence from Premiere 15.4 and it's sitting there telling me 44 minutes remaining after dropping 68% of the frames in 1/4 playback. Where am I going wrong here?

Just got a Mac, after using pc for 9 years, just mad cause I can’t figure out to use my external hard drives, they aren’t work with my new Mac. Even bought a new one. And doesn’t work, had to buy a special conversion software, but still I have no idea how to use it. 🤦♀️

Format the drive using “Disk Utility” on the Mac. Format to EXFAT and you’ll be good!
