My dear melon, Geek, what an excellent voice you have! You have realized that the Professor, as a good, old fashioned Catholic, would have celebrated the Christmas Twelvenight and refused to say Christmas was finished on the Day. Christmas to Candlemas in my house, and I'm sure Tolkien believed the same. You have brought new and wonderful meaning to this old carol, and for that and all your good work in 2023 I thank you. The best part is how Tolkien was a Roman Catholic and the original _Twelve Days of Christmas_ was written to covertly practice Catholicism when Britain was a draconian nightmare for Catholics!
