Roon is a bit special for me, she is evolving from Yangire to Yandere in her basic form, we can see she love killing and only live for that. But the closer she get to the shikikan, her feeling begin to change. "*Giggle*, I get more fulfillment from being with you than from killing enemies on the battlefield... Is this the power of love? But then..." **Affinity Love** She has more pleasure spending time with the shikikan compare spending time in sortie. She still like it, but less than before. And we can see that more with the other skin. She is paying attention to what feel the shikikan but also how is doing: "Are you having a good time, Commander? ... Me? Dido's behaviour of low self esteem and fear of abandonment is more based on real life. HMS Dido (37) earned her spot in history as the ship that Kriegsmarine (aka the "Iron Blood") surrendered on and even firing the last naval shot of the European theatre. Sadly, this wasn't enough for her name to enter the history books and she quickly became forgotten, even when scrapped in 1957. This means Dido doesn't want history to repeat itself and see herself forgotten to time again.

She became like this because Roon was such a garbage tier and hated in WoWs, but a great tier in AL where she doesn't have to care about Russian bias in WoWs and just kill her enemies. - Akagi is more of a super possesive girl rather than a yandere after she lost Amagi in Kanto earthquake and her IJN comrades death (including herself) in battle of Midway. - Taihou suffered from abandonment issues with her historical record, notice how none of her voice lines threatens or endanger you. - Dido also suffered from the similar thing like Taihou where the Royal Navy abandon her and chose her sisters instead. - Junyou suffered some trauma that turn her into a delusional "childhood" friend of yours. - Atago is just a onee-san in constant heat (what the dog doin'?). - Unicorn case she's not a yandere, just a joke made from the [uniyan] emote. The best way to determine their personality is through their secretary story lines. Roon's case is true and every WoWs players knows how Russian biased and German hater Wargaming is, because even a Russian light cruiser can sink a heavy cruiser like Roon pretty easy with citadels or burn to death.

I do think Taihou is one of the better yanderes. She makes an effort to improve herself for SKK. She learns skills, talents, and hobbies simply to please her lover. Akagi, specifically, tends to just believe she's deserving of SKK's love without bettering herself.

I don’t mind losing part of my soul to Akagi… i think the reason why IJn CVs are full of Yanderes is because of their historical tbh. Akagi is very well known Aircraft Carrier for the Axis, and it is also because how IJN Air men operates their air combat. Akagi seens a lot of battles and have elite Pilots with her and she is very aggressive for the whole war. Akagi participate Pearl Harbour and possibly be the main ship to attack Pearl Harbour. No helping the facts that IJN Pilots are suicidal means that they will crash their planes to the enemies. So yeah Akagi is Yandere because of it. Still loves Akagi even if she is the most Yandere out of Yanderes. As long as she have Shikikan’s Love, it will be fine. Besides, Fox Girls are really the best one.

Yea, Unicorn is not Yandere... or at least was not meant to be. Fans took one like from her original skin about not being a good girl and ran with it. Then Manjuu and the others started to add "easter-eggs" to go along with he joke. There's a couple such ones in the knight skin, the date skin (when always be with commander, etc.). Otherwise she's just a typical younger imouto trope, but she's been transformed into the "secret yan" type by the community and the devs jus playing along.

Just a thing about Roon (btw, it’s pronounced “Rhon”), her lasted skin, which also happens to be her only L2D skin, LITERALLY HAS A YUNO GASAI REFERENCE! Yeah, I’m talking about the Yandere face here.

Akagi says in her Memory arc that she's ok if she and the Commander get together, but ALSO that if he doesn't return her feelings, that is ok too. She's clingy, yes, and a bit needy of the Commander's aaproval, but not really yandere.

out of all of them, I think dido and taihou are the ones that have hope in mentally recovering (not counting atago and unicorn like the vid explained) cause some of taihou's skin lines shows her toning down on the yandere thing, as for dido, i think she just needs a friend, and she'll likely recover, as for the rest... IDK, but I do know one thing, roon scares me.

One thing that always come in my mind...what would happen if azur lane had a ending? Since originally in the Game story it's mentioned we were originally called to help in the war against the sirens, that was our main quest....so once it's done and we for once defeated the sirens...we would be once for all a free man....however.....what would theses girls try to do...or how they would react to know that the player job is done.....is pure fear and chaos.

While I can agree that Akagi does sit on that fine line of looking or behaving like a Yandere, her Secretary Questline does kind of disprove it, at least her being a Yandere. The one in particular being these two lines; "If you say you don't wish to look at me, then that is fine... If you say you won't be mine... then that, too, is fine. All I'm asking is that you never, ever forget my love for you, Commander..." Now I'm not that all knowledgeable with the Yandere stereotype, but if what I know is any indicator, no Yandere would ever give the person they are in love/obsessed with that kind of choice in their life or tell them if they don't love them, that is fine. They would make that decision for them because they believe they know what is best for their 'darling'. Is she being a needy woman with the SKK? No doubt about it, could also be part of her fox like nature, but I don't think she's a Yandere and this is coming from someone that believed everything I saw and read online about her before REALLY looking into Akagi's character once I started playing the game. As for Atago and Unicorn being called a Yandere? Yeah... No, that is a very hard sell and it is just people grasping at anything just to say that they are something when they are clearly not. Atago is just a teasing woman, maybe a bit horny for the SKK, but she's just the big sister wanting to pamper the SKK so she's anything but a Yandere. Same thing with Unicorn. She's just a quiet, sweet lil carrier that sees the SKK as their big brother and just wants to spend time with them. Now if you'll excuse me, I need to go give my lil sister Unicorn some head pats.

I think another shipgirl that’s often misinterpreted as a yandere is Suzuya. Like Atago, she’s very lustful to the Commander, but only shows that side of her if you Special Touch her or raise her Affinity to 100%, where she becomes more aggressive about it. But she doesn’t threaten the other shipgirls if they’re trying to win the Commander’s affection, nor threatens the Commander to not interact with them. So she can’t be identified as a yandere.

Taihou is dedicated and skilled enough to not only make quality clothes(she's a great tailor), but also skilled in many other pursuits. She even learned how to play an instrument(her dragon empery outfit) In fact, during her sidequest, she locks gerself in her room out of concern for you - thinking she's being a bother.

I've never thought of most of these as yandere, indeed only Akagi and Taihou and I was thinking Roon had some traits, but mostly because I read some members of the community state it as such. I can see how she is yangire, indeed. Unicorn, Dido, etc... never ever struck me as yandere, but I have also never seen them labeled as such before this video. Granted, I don't go about reading the discord, reddit and whatnot all that much. It is fairly common though that people get definitions wrong and label everything as x, when the thing they label as such is not actually x. With yandere, or otherwise. That said... I truly cannot even imagine dido or unicorn as yandere, how do people come up with that? xD

I think some people think of unicorn as yandere since some doujins portray her as yandere or just having a Ajax personality(you know with the feet) but with a couple convenient liquid splatters across her face.

tbh for atago and unicorn being yandere are mostly from doujin that potray them as one, the unicorn one from a particular r-18 doujin while atago from non r-18 doujin series

Roon nails the perfect yan to dere ratio for me, taiho on the other hand is way too much yan and not enough dere. This is good stuff, you should cover more archetypes.

Thinking about Isn't akagi the only one who was a backstory to explain her love for the commander (the entire sirens stuff) at all? For what i remember taihou,roon and atago and the rest show instantly showed up saying they love us and theses stuff even thought they never even meet us before. It almost makes me have a small theory that theses shipGirls somehow managed to find info about the player before him finally arriving at the port to help against the sirens.

Personally, I don't think Dido is a yandere. She isn't really madly in love us all the time like Akagi, Taihou, or Junyou. She just think us as her master at first. But her abandonment PTSD makes her kinda clingy to us, her boss, someone who can fire her and throw her into the garbage bin. She just doesn't want to be left alone. My point is, a yandere JUST want the shikikan. Nothing else. Anyone who stand in their way will be eliminated. While Dido just doesn't want ANYONE to abandon her. It's not a special treatment for the shikikan. But as her affection point get increase, she starts to think the shikikan as someone special for her and she will be really devastated if the shikikan betray and left her. So IMO, Dido is just a normal girl with a heavy PTSD.

Hello, I am here to simp for Akagi and Taihou :D I will die on hill defending them, to be honest. Taihou's lines in her chinese dress skin, as well as her muse alter showcase that she is a dedicated girl who wants to be the best she can be to be "worthy" of being with the commander. I do agree she is manipulative, but not as extreme as you'd think... Her love line (her moving her belongings to the commanders room) hits me more as a "delusional acceptance" type of deal (if that's even a proper term to use), in a sense that she has fully accepted to herself that "Yep, we're in love, so its ok if we move in!". Nevertheless, I always saw Taihou as someone who is overly attached, albeit also very hardworking to validate herself. Akagi is, well... Akagi. Losing Amagi is definitely key to her attachment to the commander. She is very afraid of also losing us, yet hides that from everyone (and herself, imo) with a sense of dominance. I may be messed up myself, but I actually kind of understand why she'd be behaving like she is... She is afraid of losing a loved one again, so she desperately tries to avoid such a scenario. It goes both way, in a sense that she is willing to do anything to make sure the commander himself doesn't want to leave her. Now, I got my own mental issues, which result in my love for yanderes, so I always tend to defend those two. But I honestly believe that the yanderes of AL aren't really "yandere's" by a textbook definition. There are reasons for their clinginess. I feel like we don't see actual depth to yandere characters too often.

I still contend that Taihou's yandere tendencies, at least the calls for violence, are her just posturing. She's proven more than once she can be kind and caring to others, especially if she doesn't see them as a threat to the commander or her relationship with him. She's just very clingy.

Have you ever thought about doing a Video going more deep into the commander character? Like sure he's the Player character and everything and our objective is to help the ship girls against the sirens But who knows if there might me something more? Like why certain characters hates the player even thought they never saw him till now (hamman and hipper) or why certain ship girls are so obsessed with him (taihou,dido) and stuff like that and maybe a "what if" would happen to the player after the game is beaten? I always thought taking a look better at the commander would be interesting even if he is just us.

Finally, and let me preface this by saying I’m heavily biased towards Taihou, I don’t agree with her placement on the graph, she’s not as extreme as Akagi. In her Secretary memories story Albacore warns her that her clingy nature could drive the commanders away, which she brushes off at first until the commander gives her time off of her Secretary duties because he notices that she’s overworked herself. She locks herself in her room because she thought Albacore’s warning came true and she drove away the commander with her actions. Albacore was the submarine that sank her real life counterpart, so naturally Taihou fears her. Now why would she listen to her warning? She could easily interpret it as her trying to get Taihou to back off so Albacore could get closer to the commander. In fact the times we do see her interacting with the other shipgirls it’s pretty positive, like when she’s waiting outside the commander’s office with Yamashiro. Even in her Chinese New Years skin she mentions that she learned to play the pipa from Yat Sen (even going so far as to call her master) and even planned to borrow one of her dresses for the occasion, but it was too small for her so she made her own. So in conclusion I don’t believe Taihou is a yandere. At worst she’s a borderline case due to her overzealous approaches to winning the commander’s affection, but nowhere near Akagi’s level. Again though I’m highly biased if the comment length isn’t any indication.
