The United States Marshals Service is the oldest federal law enforcement agency in the nation. With how long it has been around, the Marshals have a detailed and decorated history. A lot has changed, yet a lot has stayed the same.
Present day, the Deputy U.S. Marshals are at the forefront of U.S. Federal Law Enforcement, capable of performing a wide variety of dangerous and risky missions. With that said, do the U.S. Marshals still have their Wild West roots? How have the U.S. Marshals evolved and developed over the centuries? What does it mean to be a U.S. Marshal present day? And what does it take to become a U.S. Marshal? If you’re interested in learning more about the U.S. Marshals Service, watch this video!

They have a hiring freeze right now thats been going on for a a year or two now. They were backed up 1500 applicants who were given a job offer but were only getting 100ish FLETC seats a year and STILL getting budget cuts

@@markusstanley8903 100%. I'm currently in the hiring process with them. Their last academy class of 2024 was last month. June and July academies were cancelled. As far as 2025, it's up in the air because of the budget issues. The USMS is a good agency but they lose out on quality applicants because of their archaic hiring process.

After retiring from the Army with 21 years as an infantryman. With 4 tours in the Middle East and 2 in Africa, I became a deputy US Marshal. I can't explain the pride that I felt going to work everyday. There is a reason that to this day we will NEVER give up and hunt you down, if you break the law!

How were you able to bypass the age cut off?
@robertK3371
@robertK3371 Ай бұрын
I joined at 18. Retired at 39. Age cut off is 37. I applied when I was 38 using my military exemption. All Federal Law enforcement has an exemption for military, veterans or current LEO. With that being said, I was not the youngest in my class. At Glynco, my roommate was 41 and a former seal. He was older than I was. Additionally, he was also the best guy in shape out of our entire class. Which says a lot considering that I spent 21 years in either 2/75 or at Regiment. Hahahah.
@robertK3371
@robertK3371 Ай бұрын
@@CarRamRod1995 If you are interested in applying, and are over the age limit, there is a loophole. You must have be military, a veteran or current or prior LEO and it must be within 10 years of service. Also, if you are already a Federal Law enforcement officer such as BOP, Border Patrol or something else, you can apply for a direct transfer. It's a little harder to do it that way, but possible. Good luck.

I think in my Humble opinion if you look at Texas with their Texas Rangers. Remember Texas fought the Mexican Government and wanted to form their own same type of units. The Texas Rangers if you look back at this history of Marshall They basically did the same in old western times. You had a Federal agency and Texas being so BIG they formed the same type of State type agency. In the old West doing the same type of Law enforcement.

@@jdog4303they're not militarized.... Until they falsely come after you and unalive you. That being sad, kinda sad how one lone guy anywhere in the US can hold off 100s of cops for hours.... Imagine a team of trained amd determined guys 😂

I am sorry that you feel that way. Although, I can't say that you are entirely incorrect, in some situations. However, there is a huge difference between the two, and it's easily identified. Yes many wear similar uniforms, when it comes to the tactical units. With that being said, going after a suspect who has barricaded themselves into some strangers or maybe their own house and are wanted for whatever crime, know that the police are there for them. It involves a lot of officers, with bullhorns or communicating with the suspect in some sort of way. Before having to enter the place to get the suspect. I don't know about you, but I have been deployed 4 times to the Middle East and 2 times to Africa, as an Infantryman. And I can't think of any time we used a bullhorn or any other communication device with the enemy. As a matter of fact, we really tried not to let the enemy know where we were if possible. Is there some equipment that the police are using that was developed specifically for the military? Yes, and I don't necessarily agree with using it without a warrant and strict guidelines. As for the dirt bag hiding in the house or wherever, he knows it's the police and not the military.
