The U.S. Supreme Court heard former President Donald Trump’s bid for criminal immunity to override his criminal charges that he conspired to over turn the 2020 Presidential election.
Roy Herrera, former U.S. Assistant Attorney, sat down with Ted Simons to discuss the case.
On Thursday, April 25, 2024, the court discussed the difference between an official act and a private act. Herrera said Trump could only face charges with acts that are deemed official; however, the court must decide the specification of the acts.
Trump’s lawyer has been asking for absolute immunity, which would make him immune to charges deemed official or private.
Herrera said it is likely the Supreme Court would send the case to lower courts to decide the parameters of immunity.
He also said the trial will likely not take place this year.

The SCOTUS should come up with the full reading. Don't just push it back to lower courts.

This man doesn't understand imunity very well and Trump did nothing wrong. So what's the point?
