Yep, the Nigerian reputation is bad worldwide. I was born & raised in UK as were my parents but as soon as they see a Nigerian name here for certain jobs especially involving money people are wary. People don't care to distinguish between Nigerians born & raised in UK & those born and raised in Nigeria who carry ther scamming ways with them to wherever they migrate to.

@@taharka3897It's not as simple as that, you would not only need to pass exams but also go back to school because the university there is probably not accredited here. So 4 years + another 2 to 4 years of grad school and being under a doctor when you get out. That's a whole lot of debt especially when you are not established here. This is why so many Africans, Indians, middle easterners who were doctors in their home country drive a taxi, Uber, etc for work

I lived in London for a couple of years... The uk is plain overrated... Do not tell me i do not know what i am talking about because i have lot of family there. Everything is expensive, ugly, rainny ect... But they do have lot of Nigerian over there, i met many of them. But african we need to realize that good does not mean Europe or america... There are lot of opportunities in africa. I was born in Angola but my parents moved to france when i was 2... Since my adult age i have lived in london, Belgium, Boston and Montreal but now i am planing ro move to africa (Botswana, namibia or Kenya) because there are lot of opportunities there .. people in nigeria forget one thing ... Wages may be higher in the UK but so does cost of life

The problem with pushing Africans out of Europe is the African countries are going to do the same. Africans are not going to continue to let westerners access their countries. The West get alot out of Africa including military bases and even medicine, the West can't even treat cancer patients, we have cancer medicine all over the place.

It’s so easy to say Africans should stay in Africa, the opportunities in Africa are so limited without funds, except you want to be a petty trader. I have lived in both Africa and Europe and I know where life is easier. My parents came to the United Kingdom in the 50’s, they returned to Nigeria in the mid 60’s after studying, worked for a while for companies, then setup businesses that did very well, from the last quarter of the 80’s, things didn’t look good, we persevered but the country and people became so dishonest, we got hit big time by fraud, everything wasn’t working, businesses gradually closed and we had to move back to the U.K. I have lived in the U.K for about 35 years now, I have never had anyone say go back to your country, who are they interacting with, you couldn’t tell me that, I would shut that down. Africa needs good leadership, the corruption in Africa is so blatant and there isn’t any accountability.

Most people are becoming poorer, homelessness is rampant, drug addiction is through the roof, etc, I could go on and on. America is in trouble. In the UK no matter your qualifications they assess it as lower so most have to restudy again if you want the same career again which is very expensive. Medical might be an exception and that's a doctor level. The only difference may be if there's a skills shortage like social work or teaching where they go to the Caribbean and take those qualified and then the Caribbean go to places like Nigeria to fill that gap...the hierarchy goes on. Then when you come you get stuck in the system at a low end job like security and it's hard to get out. It's crazy!😢

I agree. Too much corruption, especially Nigeria. I'd not do business with Nigeria/Nigerians. If the Nigerian doctors are doing better, it's likely because they are scamming someone, and they can away with it there, better than in the US or UK. This is actually what we have been saying to Africans for years. Africa have nany resources plus major HUMAN capital. Stay home, build, network, stop tribalism, pool your resources and work and build together. One step at a time. You are the majority, you should calling the shots in your own land. Jamaica is one of the most violent countries in the Caribbean. Hence the reason why nearly everyone there is running off to live abroad. Many are desperate to go back to Jamaica to open business, but are petrified of the violence out there. Family members and so-called friends will bump you off for your property or your money. Natural instincts for human to want to escape poverty and better themselves and their families. African has the youngest median age of ant population in the world at 27y/o. The motherland has a much brighter future than anyplace on earth 🌎. There is something very wrong if people are leaving and not returning to give knowledge and build up communities. A lot of Nigerians would love to return home but the problem of insecurity, lack of power, lack of free speech and oppression of the people by the police and politicians as well as the well to do is preventing them. Recently, a pregnant woman was arrested and sentenced to 7 years in prison just for reviewing a tomato paste. Yes she made some controversial statement, but that should not warrant a 7-years sentence. Are we to talk about the corruption, tribalism etc. There's no freedom and safety in Nigeria and the leaders are not helping matters
