Anti-aging eyeshadow. The goal here is to make the lid come forward while minimising the crease of the eye (ie - creating more depth). To do this three shades are needed. A light shade, a medium (mid-tone) shade and a contour shade (deeper than the mid-tone). These three shades give the eye the illusion its more open, bright and limited. Final touch is lashes. This is where lashify comes in. Creating gorgeous fluffy lashes that open the eye without losing lid space!

I’m in my 30s but I too have noticed a massive need to change my make up than what I used to so easily seem to do when I was 21. I look wrong like whatever I’m doing lately is just wrong 😑 I’m also over watching tutorials on perfect skinned 19 year olds it’s boring to me now. I love watching tutorials on 40/50/60/70/80s for myself and also my mum, so much more interesting & inspiration x

I saved this tutorial because I knew I was going to my 50th high school reunion a few weeks later. Well, I followed your directions, went to the reunion, and got so many compliments on how I “hadn’t aged at all!” HaHa! I’m 68 and certainly don’t look like I’m 18, but I did look fabulous!! I like that you don’t talk down to me. It irritates me when young makeup artists talk about techniques that have been around forever like they invented them and I’ve never heard of them. There really is nothing new under the sun. @@lisamcdonald2877 I have a VERY long bucket list and so I always have told myself that “older” is both relative and subjective…. If you had sadly died at age 40 then “middle-aged” would’ve been 20 yrs old. And it’s also very subjective since LOTS of people think they are “too old to _____.” Fill in the blank… I’ve never seen snow in my entire life but if I’m 70 and feel healthy then I’m gonna make a snowman AND go sledding. (Which, unfortunately, probably means my middle age is 35!!)😂😂😂 Thats my plan anyway and I’m sticking to it! Peace and love ☮️💜

Ok so I’m sitting on a stool in front of my mirrored wardrobe doors one draw pulled out with my iPad resting on my clothes watching pausing re watching your tips and by Jove it worked. I need to work on my blending but who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks right. I have hooded eyes and a lot of space between the crease and my eyebrows, please any tips for this situation.

@@clairewright8153 Saaame! I really dislike my hooded eyes. I'm 31 but still haven't write figured out eyeshadow. I hate it because I adore shadows. I have several palettes that go to waste because I won't wear them outside of looking in the mirror then washing it off.

@@Michellee970 start slowly softer tones you feel comfortable with. I do get what you are saying. I went from a redhead and embraced my grey hair. Nothing that I did in the past suited me anymore , so I put it on wash it off some epic fails lol I keep trying though.

If someone had said "this will make you look twenty" when I was sixteen, I would have been ALL over that! Heh. Apart from that comment, this is interesting and I think I'll try it. I've struggled with makeup because my already hooded eyes have gotten much more so (thanks, time and gravity). This seems a lot easier than trying to create a distinct cut crease. EDIT: Okay, I tried this. It's brilliant. It lifts the whole eye area and it's SO much easier than creating a cut crease, which I have always found fiddly, especially with how mobile the skin is around my eyes these days. This is just PERFECT.

I'm 32 and have always gravitated towards this style of shadow. I'll try different things and always go back to this. It's how I remember my mom and the Merle Norman lady teaching me how to do my eyes. It's the most flattering on my eye shape and the quickest easiest way for me to do them. I think it's the most universally flattering style of shadow.

In high school I had a cover girl quad shadow tiny little eye shadow palette , it had 4 shades of brown , two of them were metallic , god I loved that little thing so much, I used it for everything, eyebrows, eyeliner , shadow….. the good old days, and I swear I felt fabulous every time I did my eye makeup

I'm 30 and I NEVER felt good with the more traditional way of applying eyeshadow.. one day I discovered that applying the lighter color on the inner half of the lid (not just on the inner corner of the eye) made me look good and younger, not older! I thought that it was something weird of me.. because I've never heard of anyone teaching that. But now I have been touched by Wayne's Wisdom, and I'll keep doing that with a smile ;)

Love, love, love this!💗 I'm 50 now and the under eyes and skin that isn't tight on the lid I can't get the angle up like I used to. I have deep set eyes and the upper brow is coming down more. So the makeup looks great until I open my eye and it's hidden. THIS tutorial gives me the look of the lift I USED to have. Thank you so much!! My eyes are back!! ❤️💗🥰

Wayne, you’re genius as well as a delight to watch. No arguments there! But for me - late 50s, retired, rarely need to be fancied up - this routine is just too much. Can you demonstrate a scaled-down, daily, go-to-market version of a youthful eye? Maybe three steps with minimal tools? That would be a dream! Appreciate you greatly. 😌

I saw 👀 an eye shadow technique, but never dreamed in a million years that it would be a dude teaching it!🤣 You have done an amazing job!! I will be 60 this summer and I am looking for ways to deal with my now hooded eyes. I was expecting an older woman 👵 to be teaching this!! Your technique is absolutely beautiful!! Experiment. Try doing this with your favourite colours. It’s only makeup, not a tattoo.

This is exactly how I do my eyes. Mine are VERY hooded and this is the only way that I can do eyeshadow on them and the reason I have so few eye shadows. The only difference is that I do not apply that darker shade on the outer corner because I have an additional problem, more hood over the outer eye and also dark circles, I always look tired and that would make it worse.

I do mine really close to this as well. I do feel like I have a bit more lid area from my natural crease to my brow that is difficult for me most days…although I’m my own worst critic…lol

I agree I love his brushes. They are my special ones, separate from all my others. Use them all the time. When I have misplace them it unsettled me until I found them.

I bought my first lot of Wayne’s brushes years ago, and threw all my old ones out (from so-called “prestige” brands). About to make another big order from Beautilish for a few brushes and a heap of Wayne makeup (thanks, Wayne!).

Thank you! I tend to shy from eye shadow, you’ve intuitively touched on my challenges- how to clean up, conceal the under eye and dark corners after the color application. Love the simplicity of no shadow primer, using highlighter and contour on the eyes for a more harmonious color palette. I am having fun playing with basic false lashes too... you make it look so easy 🙌🏻

I only just discovered your channel. I’ve been practicing this look with what I’ve got. I didn’t know what hooded eyes were until 2 years ago. Now at my 55th birthday there’s no question that I have to do my makeup differently. I’m even thinking some of those eyelid strips would help immensely at this point. I haven’t checked yet but I hope you have all these products listed. It’s time to restock. I’d love to try all the products and brushes that you use. I’ve been scared to use lashes but I’m going to try it out now. They just make your eyes pop and look so beautiful. Thank you so much Wayne for making it real for us. I just love this understated, yet dramatic look!

As someone who has never used false lashes before.. I'm wondering.. is there anyone else out there that's kinda scared to use them? Like.. putting "fusion" glue so near my eye? What if I have an allergic reaction, etc.. Is there any data on the long term effects of wearing false lashes vs eyesight? Fears aside, this is a freaking KILLER look!

Honestly, falsies 98% of times look simply like obvious fakes. Sure, people should use what they want to use and if they want that „carpet lashes look“, hey, go for it. I guess they’re safe, but they are also a huge sign screaming make-up. Never understood they appeal beyond theatrics (read: drag)

They’re fun but I just can’t put them on right. I’ve given up on wearing them. I don’t wear much makeup so doesn’t make sense for me to wear. The glue should be lash glue that’s non toxic.

The best look! Definitely for a woman “of a certain age.” I took the opportunity to allow my hair to grow into my natural salt & pepper shade. It’s very shiny & healthy, with silvers framing my face. Mother Nature did a perfect job. I’m Norwegian & Irish so my complexion is fair.I’m still in the process of learning to use a different palette on my face & certainly adding more color to my wardrobe! I had been strawberry blonde, then red. I knew my colors! They are different now. If you haven’t done, you might consider a tutorial for those fashionistas who took the brave move to be natural and now need a few pointers! I absolutely love your skill and talent.

For those with hooded deepest eyes like myself , I suggest moving the outside corner upwards & go with a lighter towards inside corner cuz if not ur eye will sink further back

Wayne, thank you for yet another tutorial. As a 65 year old woman, my eyes are beginning to hood. I also have those rogue lashes on the end that give me fits. If I cannot get it to stay up with mascara, I use a touch of lash glue and stick it to the lash near it.

I love that Wayne addresses some of the challenges makeup lovers face over a certain age. At 48, I love makeup more than ever but I'm finding a lot of the techniques I've relied on just don't yield the same results as they used to. It is a whole different ball game at this age as textural changes and skin laxity change the way makeup set on my skin. It is such a pleasure to see techniques for my age and beyond! Just one more reason to love Wayne Goss and his products!
