Excellent! Yeah, if you know Kistler, you knew. there's a couple design details that give it away. But we honestly didn;t know what the ultimate timeline would be when we started the project. If it took a year, that was ok. But I'm glad it didn't and can't wait to get my production versions!

We originally thought here would be 3, but ended up with 4. I wanted a series of rods that covers most anything I use BFS for. These will hanbdle everything except a few specific tight stream applications when I use glass rods under 5 feet long. And like I said in the video, the Power BFS range is kind of covered by the light-N-fast and even the Helium ML (which is my "large" swimbait / crankbait / topwater rod which kinda started this whole thing).

Congratulations Aaron. My dad and I used to watch Roland Martin on t.v. When I was a kid. We fished mostly for trout so it was cool to see Roland fishing for bass. I will check around to see if I can get a Kistler rod in Canada. Thanks for the video.

@@davidohlert4754 I know the plan is for them to be $297 through September. Kistler typically has sales, so I would expect $297 to be the price more often than not. But I can't say 100% for sure. Even before I was on the team, my Helium was purchased at a decent sale price as well.

congrats, but one thing i don't like is the aesthetic design look; it doesn't appeal to me at all to be honest; on the other hand i'm sure the action is pretty great and very sensitive. Although the design look needs more work, i used the Shimano BFS rods (Bantam BFS, Zodias BFS, Posion Adrena BFS, Cardiff NX, Cardiff AX and Cardiff Native Special), Daiwa Blazon, Daiwa Steez Machine Gun and Megabass. All these rods i mention they (rods) not only looks great/good; they're very sensitive too. you see i'm very spoil when comes to buying a rod beside functionality and performance; it must look great/good as well. this is my honest opinion to your rod

Congratulations Aaron first off you deserve it…. But as someone that’s been bfs fishing as long as we have the competition is fierce!!! Just a thought I would have told kistler you want me to put my name on this project then we need to make a bfs rod that everyone can afford! $99 not $299 and hell no at $400. I will still be watching the channel unless you throw kistler in my face every 5 seconds 😂

I think the competition is most fierce below $100 - i can barely make a decision when I'm trying to decide what to buy next - but the raw materials in this are probably more than that price point. I didn't want "just another rod" - if I was doing something I wanted it to be the rod I dreamed of using. Trey gave me no restrictions on performance, so we went for creating the best. I'd rather be associated with a Corvette than a Chevette... a Ferrari before a Yugo. Which is why Kistler is one of the leading manufacturers for guys who cash checks by fishing. But I get it - there was a time I couldn't imagine spending $750 on one fishing combo... You'll see the Kistler logo for sure, but I still plan on doing other product reviews and doing fun fishing trips. I'll just be using better gear most of the time with my name on it...

When you say power bfs with the light n’fast rod kistler has. Would it have enough backbone to pull fish out of heavy vegetation?Because that’s my problem I’m running into I need a rod that can pull fish out of cover but also be able to throw the light stuff.

I picture frog rod when you say heavy vegetation. I had one battle on that rod where a fish took me around 2 trees: there's a lot of footage of that fight in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/orGaaLhjvJrVmp8.html I personally think this is one of the applications where BFS is not the right choice. But that's just me. I'd probably go with the Helium ML If I still wanted to throw BFS lures and have some extra "oomph" to deal with heavy cover. @@brandondavis7368 I'd probably still go with the Helium - it's my "heavy" BFS rod. The Hunt Series rods are more shock-absorber than trying to prevent a run to cover. Still has great sensitivity to feel the subtle bite when the bait is picked up. It's where I started with Kistler and inspired the rest.

How flexible is the 4x ul when compared to the jenko double down?

More flexible, but more guides. The biggest flaw with the double down is it only has 9 guides, and they're not the true micro guides - so a big fish bends the blank to the point where friction snaps the line - at least with braid in my case. Trey said this blank design doesn't conform to any standards of action - it's has the ability to cast light lures like a fast or x-fast, but still has that moderate feeling, progressive bend to act as a shock absorber and create leverage on larger fish. I might have to create a name for this action. :P But it is going to bend along almost a lot of the legnth of the guides. I'll post of photo in the community tab from my last trip. And it doesn't seem to be giving up much in accuracy either. It's kind of mind blowing for me. I originally thought i'd be keeping my glass rods for certain situations, but these might do everything in the bait finesse realm for me that doesn't require a sub-5ft rod - aka jungle / mountain stream fishing. :)

@@AaronHuntFishing 6 foot 4x is what i was looking for. So many budget choices but i wanted something that is well made and quality components. There are Japanese rods out there but almost impossible to get. I am excited to try this one out, and with the great Kistler name I can't wait. I am in the greater Houston area and will do a local pickup when it is ready!

$300 dollar rod It’s hard for me to swallow but you can buy a dobyns rods $190 dollar rod it’s 1/16-5/16 ultra finesse I have 4 of them rod just as good or better that’s why to hi your rod does it have a solid tip

Not buying the Dobyns is just as good. But until you get down to about $40, there's always something cheaper that will work. I get it it, hand-made in the USA tournament grade rods aren't for everyone.

That was the launch price. It was actually around $260 at Black Friday, so maybe wait for the next big sale. Not sure what the plan is for the Bassmaster Classic yet, but Kistler is a key sponsor, so MAYBE there will be some deals in March? But I really don't know...

I don't have the final production models in-hand yet, but the 6'8" 3XUL prototype was just shy of 76 grams. The decision to go with Fuji's Micro-guides vs the US-made ones we were testing might change the final weight on that model a touch. But for perspective, The Yamaga BlueCurrent III 53B at 5'3" was 66 grams, with a max lure rating of 4.5 grams. This one is 17" longer, handles up to 10 grams, and only weighs 10 grams more... And the 4X models will be lighter. I don't have a prototype in either of the final lengths for that model on hand. Of course in the unboxing video I'll cover all the specs I can.

I agree .I have been getting by with a bps finesse baitcaster I purchased 30 years ago for $70 and a eagle claw Featherlite rod $5 at a fleamarket.

@@gregchilders7643 That's about how I roll. My BFS reel (KastKing Zephyr) is by far the most expensive reel I've ever purchased, and I've never spent over $40 on a rod.
