In this video, I begin my week-long tour of the beautiful La Paz region of Baja California Sur, Mexico with a visit to the beautiful bays of La Ventana and Bahia de los Sueños, located roughly 75 km south of La Paz on the Sea of Cortez (also known as the Gulf of California). My journey begins with a traditional Baja Californian lunch at the beloved roadside icon of Loncheria La Garita, where I tried the local Cafe Talega ("bag coffee"), machaca (dried meat), and delicious fried empanadas. From there, I journey east to La Ventana Bay for my first glamping experience at the excellent ChiloChill resort.
The next day, I travel to nearby Bahia de los Sueños to meet up with the crew of Baja Molinito Experience for a half day of sportfishing on the tranquil, protected waters of the Sea of Cortez. After reeling in a huge mahi-mahi and a couple of skipjack tuna, I head to La Paz to cook up the catch of the day at the excellent Mariscos el Molinito on the city's waterfront.
