As a f87 m2 competition owner and driven the new g87 m2 , I agree with your analysis. The f87 is such a thrill and enjoyable ride. G87 is good but it doesn’t put that smile as the f87 does. And as such I’m keeping my f87 m2.

I just finished watching the whole video and I have to say the F generation of bmw was the craziest 😂😂if you don't know what your doing they will send you off the road instantly but that's what I like for some reason 😂😂. At the end of the day I love all bmw's especially the f80 m3 competition

As a daily driver, g87 all day long. Backroads balls to the wall, and at the same time stay safe ( i.e. not kill your self), G87 hands down. If you want to stay on the edge, and giggle a lot ( i.e. fun factor), F87. However, the TC on G87 has 10 settings that you can easily customize to your liking, and have the tail dance on demand. I think BMW really did and amazing job, and matured it in the right direction. Great review btw.

I definitely agree as a daily the G87 is such an amazing car, I did play a bit with the TC and it is amazing that you can set it to your preference to get the most fun safely out of the car - Do love that you right.the G series is just amazing as a whole BMW did get it right for what they wanted out of the vehicle .

Thanks for helping me save my money. My goodness, the previous gen is just such a gem that we took for granted. I mean looks alone got me sold on it. Good thing they’re pretty affordable right now

F87 is still CBU in germany, G87 is made in mexico.... F87 is a playful car, G87 is a fast car.... F87 is best lokin wif sharp curve, G87 loks SQ tat dun las long Driving a M german QC car wif satisfaction ........ tats F87

This is an awesome awesome video🔥. Love the thorough comparison from looks to interior to driving experience. Your conclusion helps confirm my plan: keeping driving my m2c and enjoy the hell out of its playfulness and adrenaline and build driver skills while I’m still young, and then trade into a G87 or G80 when I’m older and make more money and become “mature”😂 so lucky to have caught the tail of bmw’s Raw m products.

this isn't close tbh. the G platform is miles ahead of the F platform in every single way. the f was just too slow, couldn't put the power down, and had a huge dead spot in the steering. one of the more frustrating cars to own whereas the g is just sublime. (speaking as a former owner of 2 f80s including a CS and g80 xdrive owner and current g87 owner).

Very true they are very different cars. The G series is way more refined. Wow why did you sell the CS? Sounds like you properly drive your cars hey?

@@JustinOnCars I used my CS as a daily and most of the time on city streets you want ur daily to be more composed and a point and go rocket and it just wasn't. It was too slow for my taste and just couldn't put the power down most of the time, which was fun sometimes but frustrating most of the time... upgraded to a g80 xdrive which did everything really well and was a lot faster but it could be a 2wd hooligan when you wanted at the press of a button. The CS was a decent enough track tool and fun canyon runner but it wouldn't be in my top 5 cars I've owned for either of those purposes so it just didn't make sense for me. I guess would have made more sense if it was my only car ... anyway, very good and accurate review of the 2 m2s!

At almost double the price for the G87 its unfortunately not even 30% more car than the F87 and lets not forget the F87 has a proper dual clutch gearbox

G87 M2 is superior to an F87 M2! Its a beast with that S58. a mini Nissan GT-R with a stiffer chassis.

@@JustinOnCars I need your advice please. I used to have a manual 370z years ago then sold it. Now after not having a sports car since then, I’m in the market for an F87 or G87. Im on the fence. I want something that is fun to drive as the most important factor. I want precise steering / handling, acceleration, good braking and feel for the road. From all the videos I’ve watched it seems the F87 gives you most of that vs. the new G87. I also prefer the styling of the prior gen compared to the new G87. There’s a few F87 M2 comps I found online in pristine condition with only 9k miles for $ 60k, which I think is fair due to the immaculate condition. There are used G87s available for close to that price so I just want to make the right choice. I have an suv that I would use for the work commute and the M2 would be for Friday, Sat & Sun. What do you think is best? I plan to test drive both very soon. Lastly if I got the M2C it would be in manual since it’s raw and the G87 would be in auto to make the most of the new 8 speed DSC.

Thanks for the comparison. I drive a m2c and am biased. But even my m2c feels heavy and slightly syntetic. So checking the new one it seems they even made it worse. Making it so easy to drive sounds like Electronics keep that fat thing on the street. Obviously with better suspension than on the f series. Anyway,breaking hot into corners is already tricky with the f series. Having like 2 tons with driver and fuel is just insane. Iam speaking coming from light cars. Also the f series interior is so outdated, but actually thats what makes a driver car. Sitting in the g series its more like playing a console game.. But These seats are nice tho.

Look it is a very nice car, but like you say too easy to drive these days. ja flip cars are really getting heavier and heavier hey? you definitely feel the difference after the e 90's came out cars just got fatter, but BMW will always try and make it a drivers car especially when DSC is fully off then it really makes a difference I would say, but in general like your e46M3 Still TOPS....

I actually like the new G87 styling. The F87 was nicer though, the rounded front, and bulging arches looked perfect. I think the ducts were nicer on the old car, and the lights too. The wheels look a bit lost in the arches of the new car. Small request, can you not put shitty music suddenly in your videos, when the speech audio is low, and then shitty music blasts out 3 times louder than the speech audio, nearly blew my fucking speakers up. Thanks. I prefer the seats on my OG pre LCI M2, as the M2C seats do not have the thigh extension support, which is nice for longer journeys, and the new G87 seats are horrible, especially that stupid bulge on the cushion which rubs on your thigh. I prefer clear, normal twin dials, and not the screens won the new G87, they look like a stuck on after thought. The M1/M2 buttons are handy, and more configaration is always nice to have. New car is just an M4 in a smaller body really. It's very well built, but more luxurious, and the OG M2 is more raw.

Lol I can definitely have a look at that haha good advice there thank you for that 😂😂 You have the original M2? That is actually a super nice car in total. I feel the balance of the OG M2 is better. Thank you very much for the awesome advice and your feeling about the M2 F87 and G87. I really do appreciate the feedback a lot and what people think and feel about these wonderful machines

@@JustinOnCars Thanks for the reply my friend, I think people who have not owned too many cars kind-of have that obsession with power, and more power, and I did have that a bit myself, hence taking a 2 year old M140i from completely standard to spending thousands on upgrades. But, I learned that it could have 900bhp and still not give me the enjoyment that my F87 OG M2 does. Balance, steering feel, cornering ability, great damping, just gives me a lot more enjoyment than planting the throttle in a straight line. I'm sure you probably know only too well what I mean. Have fun mate.

@@mikexlr8 I looked at M2C's, and the ones in my budget all had over 50,000 miles, so I ruled those out. Had my budget not been as tight, I think I would have got the M2C. But .... The OG M2 isn't really any slower in real terms, than the M2C, despite being 40bhp down on power, because it's about 50Kg lighter. Some argue the M2C has a slightly better chassis feel, as it is an improved and developed version of the OG, and I have not had long enough driving time in the M2C to really have an opinion, so in my short experience I only noticed a lack of sound mainly, as the OG sounds fantastic, and the M2C is a bit muted. I have a personal dislike of the M2C seats, which put me off a bit, as did the rear silencer which is too visible and hangs down like a full nappy. Mine is a DCT, so I can't comment on the manual box feel, but as a serial BMW owner, every one has been a manual until my previous car an m140i with the ZF8. I have never fell in love with BMW manual gearboxes, they have always felt a bit rubbery, and the clutch delay valve I always had removed as it greatly improved the clutch pedal feel. If I could afford one, I'd have the G87 it's an amazing car and probably the last petrol only engine'd M2 that the company will make, so it will always be sought after in future years. I love an underdog though, and the OG M2 is still a fantastic car, which can be picked up for a very good price now, I absolutely love mine.

The fact that the OG M2 is lighter so not any slower (even though it has less HP) is very interesting because one can always add more power with some mods and a tune. Not to mention it has the old non-digital dials that I love. Another benefit is it is less expensive but may be hard to find one with low miles. What did you not like about the seats of the Comp? I really like the beautiful colored stitching on the Comp seats and Alcantara on the sides. Even the new G87 doesn’t have alcantara anywhere in the interior of her car. I don’t know if I’ll be tracking the car as I’ve never done it but it sounds fun so I may do it, however I’ll guessing at most I would go twice a year only so tracking is not the most important factor for this purchase.

Interesting observation - you guys in SA get different rear headrests than we got in the USA. Ours are low profile and fold downward to lessen the restriction of rear visibility. Yours are upright and stick up quite a ways even in their lowest position. One reason I find this interesting is I also have a 2019 Golf R, and in the USA we got headrests like these here in the SA M2 Comp - tall. But the euro headrests were low profile and in their lowest position, sit very low wrapping around the top of the back seats, creating great rearward visibility. Strange!

@@JustinOnCars OK I'm full of crap. Just went out to look. Folded down, mine look completely different - but in their "up" position, they are identical to yours. Try folding yours down, hold the button on the inside-side of each and fold. Creates a ton more visibility out the back window.
