That tele sounds so hi-fi with that neck. Amazing, very lively. I've always been a fan of alternative approaches to guitar building. I tried some Washburns or something in the late 80s with carbon fiber necks and they sounded and played amazing. A neck like this can be more consistent in mass production compared to wood.

I know about evo gold frets, which are technically softer than stainless steel. If this is brass then that’s a first for me for sure. Good to see someone offering something interesting as an aftermarket part. Hopefully as stuff like this gets more popular, the price will go down.

Bold of you to assume the price will go down as popularity increases. I suppose you could assume the high cost is due to a niche market requiring high prices to make good profit margins. However, it is pretty common that as demand increases, prices do too. The only way you'd see lower cost is if supply increases without a major demand increase, which is pretty unlikely, or a major reduction in manufacturing costs, like making it in China.
@samdeters6162
@samdeters6162 Жыл бұрын
@@ASpoonfulOfJimmy I think that as popularity increases, companies with the resources to mass produce carbon fiber guitars will offer cheaper alternatives. I get that it works against conventional supply/demand, but once the demand/awareness reaches a certain point, I hope that companies will recognize this and balance everything out. Because I want one lol.

As per the price, don't forget these necks are hand made to perfection, not on an assembly line, they are perfectly constructed. If you consider people buying $7000, $10,000 Gibsons or Fenders, then paying $1500 for this neck is well worth it!. Congrats to my mates at Holland Guitars and well done!

Umm….an actual’54 Fender Tele is a $25,000+ guitar, so if you for example, wanted to tour THAT axe, and take out some of the risk of harming it, a different neck might be just the ticket. The strat neck from Italy? He did recently was $900, still high, but it is an exotic material with an involved manufacture process, that one seemed almost reasonable to me, hell a Pick up set can go for that much these days (silver wire SD)

You can get a neck from Rubato Guitars that’s all carbon fibre but customized to your specs for less then this. It’s still a super high end product and expensive, but it’s about $500 less than these. Stainless steel frets on the Rubato, your choice of fretboard material/color, fret size, etc. can be ordered for tele or strat shaped neck heels. This looks like a good neck but bang for your buck wise it feels a bit limited.

Interesting, but to be very candid, the imperviousness to temperature and humidity can be a little overblown unless you're travelling from Phoenix to the North Pole to Thailand within a week. My wood necks rarely need adjusting anyway. To me, one huge con that Darrell doesn't mention is the lack of a truss rod. Not everybody has the same relief preferences, so this a HUGE con, and is actually a feature that the newer Klos carbon fiber neck has (probably cheaper too). But the con I personally can't get past is the tone. Both the Klos and this one sound very metallic to my ears. Some people may like that, but with all it's twang, even a Tele can sound woody. I'd say this is a novelty, nothing more. A good roasted maple neck from Warmoth, Plekked by your favorite luthier AFTER installation, is going to be a far better genuine investment, in my opinion.

I have one of these necks fitted to my Warmth tele ( Korina body), and it truly is the most playable guitar neck ever! It is just SO consistent and reliable- once set up, it STAYS set up- no movement, just perfect playability all over the neck. My neck finish is matte, and it is super smooth and easy to play. And, combined with the Korina body and humbuckers, this beast of an axe sustains like my Les Pauls do. Should mention the overall quality is impeccable also- the bell bronze is super slinky, makes bending somehow more controllable, if that makes sense?! Yes, it's not cheap, but if like me you want the best you can give to your axe, then look no further Just my two cents... :)

Those things sounded great, but you pick it up and the neck is COLD weird feeling, sticky when you sweat too!. And they will NOT feedback like a wood guitar, Dunno todays process might be different using aluminum but CF has a resonance, it’s way more like wood, except temperature and humidity have zero impact on it. Bob Weir of the dead toured on a non-wood guitar for years. Modulus”? I think that was the name, wasn’t CF I don’t think, but same context, impervious to weather, no truss rod, perfect tour axe. Course Bob doesn’t solo much? Not sure I’d like it. But CF acoustic guitars sound really good, react much like wood to vibration, and any guitar is a the sum of its parts and construction, 2 Les Pauls might sound way different from one another. CNC machines are more precise than hand built like the old days, I’ve heard on channels that PRS guitars don’t vary much like old Gibsons do Paul refined every aspect of building guitars= consistency

Well, OK. It's a beautiful looking neck, and the "nice" things about it are indeed very nice. But far, far beyond what I'll be spending on guitar stuff from here on. 0I'll have to run with what I brung, so to speak. Glad I bought some quality stuff when I was still working. Nice nod to The Band in your test - put my mind on the intro of "The Weight." My brain was heading toward "Pulled in to Nazareth, feelin' 'bout half-past dead . . . " Guess my age is showing. Sounds great on the Tele, and has some nice touches. If fortune dropped one of these on my bench, or if I won the 6/49 and money was no object, maybe I'd think about one of these. Possibly as part of a "top-end Partscaster" where, again, cost didn't matter. But after reaching "official" retirement age about the same time that the shrinking Canuckistan pesos I'd planned to use for guitar goodies in retirement are now all going toward natural gas, electricity and water, still short & with zip left over for groceries - Meh! Thanks for the review Darrell.

The neck only is sold at the price of a good whole Tele... 😵 would be nice to supply an assorted pickguard for that price !

It kills the vintage look and sound but seems great feel to the hand (great fretwork). It seems great to modernize a tele.

If I had money to piss away then sure, I’d get one. Maybe on a build but not on my original US tele.

Someone should tell Holland there's a typo on their price sheet! Can you believe they put an extra 0 on the end! That would just be crazy to ask $2500 for any guitar neck! Sure glad it was just a typo though. Wheeeeewweeee!

Very cool neck! $2500?! Fail. What is the USD conversion rate? I thought the prior Strat carbon fiber neck this channel did was around $900? At least that is almost attainable for the quality and tech.

Couple of things not covered in this video. First, fretboard material? Second no truss rod adjustments? Not everyone likes the same action, whatever action these necks are set at?

$2500? Is that what average CF replacement necks cost? I’m not sure I could fork that over for a neck. They ought to offer free shipping to anywhere in the world at that price point.

I would have checked that all 4 bolts are the same length. The bolt in the rear looks like it only had maybe 3 threads holding it on.

Nice neck but .... Teles should be a rough and tumble looking guitar ( a cutting board with strings ) This is way too fancy ... like wearing Carharts with alligator shoes !

Our friend Darrell tells us nothing about the actual construction of this neck, or it’s crucial measurements and, tellingly its weight. True carbon fibre construction will be substantially lighter. Be good to know if this only was a carbon fibre wrap on a Fiberglas core, for example. Just made to look pretty but still a resin-based neck. For the price that’s still not terrible.
