Interesting comparison. I find the kingsford to burn quicker and the flavour is a little acidic and a little dirty, especially using the minion method, probably from the additives. Jealous devil has a pure hardwood smoke flavour so it's a milder sweeter flavour, and I've honestly found it to burn way longer. I've never used a gravity feed BBQ which is fan forced, so that could be a factor. In Canada Kingsford is barely cheaper anymore so for me it's a no brainer to use Jealous devil....

This! Yes I am going to try out Jealous Devil briquets this weekend. I cant get Kingsford to be clean with the snake method no matter how long I wait and no matter how patient I am in not changing the airflow...always some acidic or acrid taste.

I like these types of comparisons. I just bought 40 pounds of Cowboy charcoal because it was like $18 at Walmart. Never used it but at those prices, I figured why not give it a try. Nice review Scotty!

I've used the cowboy charcoal briquettes too, gone through a few bags of it. My opinion is it lasts a little longer than Kingsford but doesn't burn as hot as Kingsford. Kingsford burns really nice and hot if you want it to. Overall I think they're both good. But my gripe with the cowboy briquettes is I saw quite a bit of broken briquettes in my bags. Kingsford might have one or two broken ones here and there but not much. I think Kingsford quality control is just better than most.

I bought one bag of jealous devil to try. My biggest complaint is when pouring a lit chimney full of coals into my grill, a lot of the briquettes broke and split apart. And because of that I had uneven heating and ended up with hot and cold spots. That really turned me off, especially for a so called premium brand. I like Kingsford because it provides even steady heat. And no, I don't think bigger briquettes equals better.

The problem is the size JD is bigger then kingsford all the other comparisons do it by weight. If its done by weight many other brands last longer and burn hotter then the kingsford. If you going off Taste to each his own very hard to decide that one.

I did 2 full bags. Ran out same time. Jd didn't seem to run hotter
