I was absolutely creased up with your kazoo fanfare - at one stage I was in bits - haven't laughed so much in ages. Then the sound design, percussion and pads took over and it was amazing. Captured the images perfectly. Christian Henson would love this ... this could be the start of Albion Two! Great fun as usual Guy but more importantly you are an inspiration. Please don't ever give up and wonder what the couple in Part 1 made of it?

I enjoyed it very much. I think the kazoo is a hard sound to disguise! I like the "strings" a lot more. Now the one thing I was yearning for you to do was make the tempo such that it matched the visual cuts. And have the factory hooter do its pitch down and fade over the scene title. I'm inspired to have a go myself. Metropolis is public domain now, so it makes me wonder if rescroring these old movies could become a thing. Maybe it is! Digging out the kids toys now! !

I don't know, but to me this sounds like a dystopian Kubrick film a'la Clockwork Orange-ish :) that's not bad, it sets a mood for the material

Ingenious. Guy, I think this vid was a roaring success and an inspiration to many. The use of IRIS 2 was an eye opener. Can I make a suggestion? Why not do a series of 'useful composer plugins'. You already have bags of experience and a few 'quickies' on this theme in your inimitable style would be great.

Hate the kazoo sample at the beginning shot, but it works beautifully when the shift change happens, and there is a lovely chord progression where my ear is killing for it to be repeated, its really good.

Hi, I understand recording the samples initially at a higher sample rate, but does that mean your session has to be at 192k as well instead of the standard 48k?? Or are you depending on kontakt/iris to do some type of conversion in a 48k session.

I've watched (and since subscribed) a number of your other videos, with great interest and not a little envy at some of the wonderful orchestral libraries you possess. But, in producing this, you not only took a great leap of creative imagination, but I found the process so incredibly inspirational because it was such a step from the 'preset-world' that impacts all of us. Those of us whose inspiration occasionally falls flat the first hurdle as we step through patch after predictable patch, looking for something fresh. I think I've found a new channel that might help cure those areas of creative blight. Well done to you and your infectious love of all of it. Surprised you don't have even more subscribers

Just how much processing are you allowing yourself here? Can you isolate a fundamental + 2nd/3rd/4th harmonic using filters?

hmmm.....nice seeing the process, but still kind of sounds like a kazoo :-) maybe try stretching, pitching and using some harmonics. tough challenge though.

I work at 44.1khz. Get some decent outboard eq's and reverbs. Check out my tracks on my channel. When you dither down you are leaving it up to a computer to decide what data on your mix to withdraw. When working on a score for months you cannot take that risk. Just my opinion. Love ur work and videos. Thanks so much!

Amazing video firstly! But Devil’s Advocate: I am 100% not saying you aren’t getting at difference. At 96kHz and above your audio path is not really recording frequencies up to the Nyquist as there are anti-aliasing filters, mic limitations etc. So whilst there may be a difference it’s not necessarily as simple as that. Pitching down and imagining that this is “full bandwidth” is a bit of a red herring, that would mean your input chain was not low pass filtered at all. This also applies to the Output path. Maybe the lowpasses are a little higher but it’s unlikely that your input chain was really passing frequencies over 48kHz for example Of course when you consider that the converters ICs are most likely Delta Sigma, and we are only taking about output data sample rate to your computer rather than actual sampled sampling clock speed this all becomes even more confusing. I’ll repeat though I’m not saying that you’re not getting a difference. I’m just saying that attributing it to increased sample rate alone rather than analog signal path, perception, workflow et cetera might be questionable. Jitter reduction might be a likely candidate.

you need a better mic and better mic technique - think abou the space you record in (i.e. miniature artificial environment = box)
