In this video, I give you a 6-step system to follow which will guide you into the world of improvisation. It's so easy to get overwhelmed with the amount of information out there, so my goal with this video is to simplify it all and give you a roadmap which you can follow.
We start by learning a chord progression with voicings in the left hand. We then look at various different things such as the minor blues scale, chord tones, modes and a few other things.
We put it all together in a structured format. This video is meant for you to return to and use as a roadmap, rather than follow along in realtime.
This video is also a summary of one of my courses within the PianoPig Academy. So, if you would like to see more on this - have a think about becoming a member!

That opening riff was simple, but the same kind of simple when you start to optimize their details in any art by cutting down the fluff and unnecessary stuff to have exactly what you want to be there, nothing more, nothing less, and it was very smooth!I loved that beat.

Beautiful! Your improvisation videos are my favorites! They're full of notions and ideas... by the way it's great how diminished arpeggio works on the dominant... wow! Thanks a lot!

The first time I watched this I had no idea in mind but on improvising out of nowhere without an even decent amount of mode knowledge. But now that I know the modes on each scales, I understand this lesson now and it help me broaden again my horizon in jazz playing. Thank you.

Appreciate Video clip! Apologies for chiming in, I am interested in your opinion. Have you thought about - Riddleagan Smart Hands Remedy (search on google)? It is a good exclusive product for learning piano fast minus the normal expense. Ive heard some super things about it and my old buddy Taylor at very last got excellent success with it.

Finally! I have been stuck on step 2 literally for months haha Really looking forward to experiment with these exercises. Really appreciated, thank you! Sorry for the noobie question but how could I find on step 5 which scale to use in each different occasion?
@febilogi
@febilogi 3 жыл бұрын
You just have to follow to main scale. Because 2-5-1 is always minor7-dominant7-major7(or min7) and the modes of each chord is dorian-mixolyd-ionian or aeolian but aeolian is too sad for jazz, so they use dorian because it's just one note different on scale :) cmiiw

Great stuff! Fingering the blues scale seems fairly open to interpretation. I seem to be gravitating to a variety of different fingerings depending somewhat on whether I am staying within an octave and/or moving up and down across multiple octaves. Does it really matters as long as you get the sound out of the piano? If it does matter, perhaps some ideas on what to try to avoid in your fingering.
