When you're bullied at school and go home to get bullied by your family it's hard to care about anyone or anything. I know the feeling. That ended when I grew bigger and stopped letting them talk down to me. My bullies learned what it feels like to have the taste slapped clear out of their mouths.

baffling that anyone tries to argue that you arent trying to help or "dont like the people" or whatever. it can be hard to take responsibility for ourselves and our shortcomings but that is exactly what i see you trying to teach people here. and it is SO important. it reminds me of the idea that "people who cant admit when they're wrong, will never learn anything" but in regards to self improvement. you do good things here north keep it up. ❤

I agree, this partly made me write a waffling comment of my own a moment ago. Part of the problem is that these neckbeards or uber nerds get to the point where they don't want to hear advice because it's uncomfortable for them to hear it or it infringes or even tries to pop this bubble they've constructed for themselves. Or they feel so out of step that they feel that the advice is so overwhelming and that their life situation is so far down the hole that they cannot possibly take from it in their own lives. People don't put a fox tail on in public or wear a full neckbeard get-up and wander around town in it overnight, it's a drip drip drip of years and years of Othering yourself and those around you who you don't see as being in your tribe. When they hear advice- particularly from someone who they might construe as being a "normie" who is in a geek space- they'll often push back or dig their heels in or say you're being toxic and mean. For some of these people, they've Othered themselves into their own idea of nerdiness to such an extent that if you even LOOK like someone who could go on a night out or get a date, they won't even consider you a proper nerd and therefore not worthy of their geek space and certainly not worthy of listening to, because "REEE normie". I've seen it in person, and many times on the internet, this is legitimately where these people end up mentally and it's horrible.

It's much easier these days to get nice results early. If you're patient and follow YT tutorials precisely your first minis will be way nicer than what we had back in the day. We tried just as hard, but just didn't have the knowledge. Seeing someone doing it is much different than trying to figure it out from a book.

North big up mate, the last part of the video hit home, the realisation that you are not perfect is a massive step in self improvement. Also love your empathy and understanding of people’s situations, sometimes you’ve got to be straight with people for things to improve, but it’s about doing it in the right way with the right intentions. My hatred for normies getting into a hobby is the fact that I've been in too many hobbies that died because a bunch of normies came in, the company tried to pander to them by sanitising out anything that made the thing interesting, driving out the core community due to it and within a few years it's dead. Warhammer is going through the same cycle and fully embracing what we've already seen leads to nothing but death for a community.

This makes no sense. If more people are interested in warhammer because Henry cavil made it more publicly known how would it be dying? Unless so many of their customer base that’s been playing for years all up and leave (that’s not happening) I don’t see it dying.

@@Billuhhanks in 2021, 2022 and 2023 revenue grew at a lower rate then the prices increased by, indicating that the late 10s decline has returned and the 2020 boost was a one off, the only year since 2015 sales volume increased rather then decreased.

Agree 100% on Custodes being the best starter army. I got my friend into 40k and his only Tabletop experience was a DnD campaign we did with paper tokens back when I was in the Navy. Custodes are points expensive and (relatively) dollar inexpensive so you have armies with 12-20 models which seriously reduces how much someone has to invest to get started. Custodes are extremely powerful datasheet, even if they're losing the objective game, they're likely still having a good time because they're killing everything and take so much firepower to be killed. Space Marines IMO are one of the WORST starter factions, with all the different factions and rules between chapters, Deathwatch, Black Templars, ect. AND their bloated roaster of datasheets it's immediately intimidating and if you buy some useless unit (like those turret things) then you're basically screwed out of that money. I've been playing Imperial Guard for 3 years, thought about getting into Black Templars and saw the Datasheets and immediately noped out. I'll stick to the Guard, thank you.

Thanks for the Tip, Mate! I wanted to start on Imperial Guard, Genestealer Cult, or Tau(mainly the kill team lists) slowly wanting to get into Soace Marines. Any advice for them or did you nope out of it completley?

I have a dream to have multiple Guardsmen from different planets for certain operations in kill team. I never see a lot of Guardsmen in my area though. You have any sites you recomend buying from?

Want a good Martian base, slap down some gloss medium/varnish, then put the Martian Ironcrust or other crackle paint on for the base. You'll get more cracks in the basing material that way. If you want to go next level, paint the base with some yellow or orange, then hit it with gloss varnish, then do the ironcrust. That way you get a cheapo "lava" effect, and you don't have to painstakingly layer for five years or pull your hair out trying to dip a bright color in the cracks. I have made sooo many mistakes in basing... LOL

Also I really like your attitude towards neckbeardism as not necessarily something to cringe at or sneer at but as a person with struggles who needs help. It might be an unpopular opinion but I see a subtle take on the neckbeard look to be kinda okay for some guys. You know, if you want to wear a quirky long coat or an anime shirt or something that's fine? IF it doesn't look ridiculous on you or like a costume item. I've seen lads with a YuGiOh shirt or a suspiciously fedora style hat or something and you know it looks fine with some flattering jeans and trainers. It's not my look but it can be alright in moderation. Covering yourself from head to toe in a mixture of geek and alt clothing tat, having a clip on tail, being unhygenic and having a shit attitude isn't a "look", it isn't a valid type of nerd or a legit subculture within nerd society. Being pompous and rude to people isn't some acceptable way of presenting yourself. It isn't "your thing" and there's a point where you have to look in the mirror and join the adult world and interact with people decently. If you're an eccentric that's great, but putting on a My Little Pony shirt, a trenchcoat, 20 borderline hentai pin badges on your backpack, never washing and thinking you're hot shit in any geek space you enter isn't eccentricity, it's a cry for help and people like North are the decent geeks who want to help you. If you slap their hands away and say they're being mean for wanting you to get out of your frankly dangerous comfort zone or call them normies pretending to be nerds for daring to look like someone a girl might actually sit down and have a drink with, then that's on you.
