Very interesting! And nicely produced too. Assuming the sawdust would keep its shape when pressed, a slightly tapered oven would allow the fuel to be removed and stored after pressing, so you'd have multiple 'logs' ready to burn. Pressing would be more difficult with this idea though.

This is basically a metal and sawdust version of a log torch. Great if you have a lot of excess sawdust to use up. Would be even better if you had a way to form the sawdust so you have logs that you can add when needed without having to resort to the press

Now that is cool! Wonder how much heat it puts out? Heading into fall in my part of the world and starting to think about shop heat. Maybe some waste oil soaked into that sawdust... Things to think about.
@diceman199
@diceman199 Жыл бұрын
I use sawdust logs on a solid fuel stove. Mostly i break them up into 5ths and use to help start the fire. First time however I put a whole one on and 5 minutes later I had to move away from the stove. Waste oil such as cooking oil or fat rendered out when roasting meat would make it somewhat hotter.

Could the rod in the middle have threads maybe? Would you get enough preasure without a hydraulic press, you think?
@diceman199
@diceman199 Жыл бұрын
The rod would then have to be attached to the bottom somehow to stop it just pulling straight up. Maybe a central hole in the baseplate and threading so you screw the rod into place then a threading at the top to allow compression

There is something brilliant out there that is very similar: My friend has a commercial woodstove for hiking... it has a small computer fan and some sort of elctronic circuit with a probe that generates a small amount of electricity when it gets hot. So the fan wil start blowing shortly after you start a small stick fire inside, it acts just like a turbo blowing the flames constantly. It gets really hot and burns wood fast! All you need is a small bundle of fingerthick branches and ou are good.... And even cooler; It has a usb charging port you can charge devices with once it gets going... Just remembered; it is called a BioLite camping stove! Look it up, it is not too expensive imo!

That's a neat way to fuel up a stove, and if or when power is no longer available, you can always rely upon the hydraulic jack to press more sawdust into the stove body. Brilliant really, now, what you need to do is build another body for the stove but without a top so you can pull out the pressed pellet so you can make dozens of them, to stockpile them, and when a pellet is fully burned, you can just push in another one and keep on cooking! Nice Idea Hassan, well done!
@matikaevur6299
@matikaevur6299 Жыл бұрын
Although it will be lots of work and sweat to produce sawdust when power is not available ;) Pressing is the easy part, hydraulic jack is almost foolproof and indestructible (almost). I have one 2 ton an one 6 ton soviet era ones, bit older than me and still working ;) Probably will work for some time after i stop working ..
