Solid video, as always. I've been adding a crouch dash to my iWS motion; i.e.: d (hold), df, df. On leverless this is really easy to execute and it seemingly alters the release-to-neutral window. I know the additional crouch dash extends the travel distance, I just can't verify whether or not it gets me to active frames any faster than normal iWS.

Good tip if you’re struggling with the timing for the neutral to get WS is you can go from crouch to back 1 and WS 1 will come out.

I appreciate this video. I use Pad, and where I struggle is the pressing of Down Forward without the game thinking i've hit forward at the end of it. In the end the way thats easier for me is to literally push down and then move my thumb to the very right of the Down button so it registers a down-forward. Probably an issue unique to my pad, ah well. Thanks either way!

you can also make instant standing move by pressing both back and forward simultaneously while still holding down button, due to socd. so that could also be helpful for ppl not familiar with releasing buttons to make while standing moves.

Yup! While it's referred to as While Rising in-game, we don't want it to clash with While Running for input notations.

New players might confuse "standing" with recovering from knockdown. Off the top of my head, I can' think of any non-Namco games that use the input.

@@imortalXsoul Also, I come from a Mishima background where instead of just timing a button press for the first frame of (ws), you input back + button after a crouch dash to ensure crouch dash moves don't come out. Certain universal mechanics like back dash cancel and instant while rising require different considerations for different characters if they have character specific mechanics that might interfere. For example, characters with a sway require clean KBD inputs to keep from accidentally swaying while back dashing.

The main thing about getting a WS from a dash is to not have a forward input, and instead have a neutral in its place. I used to use Feng before t8 and man, his WS1 has some fucked up range when combined with his forward sway.

As a new Raven player, I've watched all of your guides and they're super helpful, so thank you 😊 But as an intermediate - high intermediate player, I was wondering if you were planning on doing any videos on layering Raven's offense. He has so many stance transitions and moves from stances that it's hard for me to keep track of what the opponent is doing when I don't really know what I'm doing lol. I think for BT stance it's a bit easier to do basic layers (like 4,1 punish -> f4,1 if they don't duck, or f2,4 if they do duck. db2 into nothing, then db2 into buttons later when they mash), but I find it hard to know what to do with Soul Zone transitions (BT 2,2 -> SZ, B1 -> SZ, etc.) Obviously the intermediate/more technical videos don't do as well for views as general guides do, so I understand if you don't plan on doing it. Thank you though

Most of them are intermediate and above tbh, the options are there and shown, it’s up to you to use them for conditioning. You can’t copy what i’m doing on players that perhaps don’t understand the mix/mindgame. That’s why trying to copy high level players doesn’t work in Tekken for the most part, because the layering and mind games will be different depending on the skill level of the pool of players if that makes sense

@@imortalXsoul Sorry yeah I didnt mean to make it sound like I wanted to copy certain sequences it's more that I dont have a good understanding yet about which options are good under certain scenarios. Which now that i think about it more, it comes with time and learning which of Ravens moves have which kinds of properties, their startup frames, evasion, etc., along with character knowledge and picking up opponents habits i.e. -> "this string into this stance is good for when your opponent is doing this kind of retaliation" and "this string from this stance is good if your opponent is doing this of retaliation" stuff like that is kind of what I have trouble with now since theres just so much stuff you can do with him lol appreciate the reply

Is there a way to trick the system so i dont have to hold down for a couple of frames in order to access Ravens full crouch lows? Feng can instantly do it from standing just by pressing d df for example.

I have a very big question on this, only characters with some type of wavedash is the only ones who can do the iWS, or the rest of the cast can do it too? Because with characters who has normal movementes i cant do it...

Imortal I'm having a problem lol. This is a great video, by the way. But my problem is it's gotten to the point where I have to throw the chicken sink at this guy's to win If don't I'll lose. I can space them out with the kbd and the backflip but Im finding myself having to attack way more than I used to. During your fights as Raven you seem to always be in control of the pacing of the match. Any tips?

you're getting CD2 because you are pressing forward. It's D, DF N 2. Make sure you return to neutral and DON'T PRESS forward

I can never master the crouch dash. I’m getting better but it’s going tekken 6 since I picked up Raven and still have difficulty

For dualshock and dualsense controllers, there's like a kind of sweet spot on the dpad where you push down on the down button and it sort of rolls into down-forward, and back to down when you release it. I think my tip would be focusing a lot more on the down button of the dpad, avoiding the right button almost entirely (or left depending on which side you're on in-game). After you get comfortable with your thumb placement to get that spot on the dpad consistently, it's just a matter of rhythm to get a cleaner wavedash. I hope this helps!
