Jig for making wood star puzzles, also known as Escher solid.
It’s a cool small woodworking project, interesting challenge to solve, a beautiful object to have on the counter and a great present for any occasion. it is also a great way to use all your small scraps from previous projects.
It’s not an easy project, though. the accuracy that is needed is very high. it took me 5 prototypes to get to the final jig design. each star is assembled from 6 identical pieces. I made around 50 wood-star puzzles, Using all types of hard wood like Purple heart, Wenge, Zebrano, Maple, Walnut, Cherry, and more. (i succeeded to sell only one on etsy, isn’t it ironic :)
I made a 4 part video series about it, but this final chapter sums most of it.
if you think you will have interests for getting the plans for this project - please let me know.

Brilliant video, great example of making the complex possible without too many words and without multiple videos. Excellent work and result.

I've been woodworking for over 30 years have my own shop and worked in many pro shops. and I have never seen someone using a center punch on wood or maybe the only time I would consider it necessary is on very hardwood for turning on the end center that's it.

cool! I have a video where I used a band saw, but I think with a good blade you probably have a lot less sanding work to do. Nice one!

Enjoyed the video and subscribed. Greatly appreciate your eye for accuracy and would certainly enjoy making the jig if you provided the plans and instructions. Thanks. Would be willing to pay for the plans. The links don’t seem to go anywhere.
