Lonnie Dobbins III , if you notice, he was bust some people’s ball’s. There is truth in comedy. The comedians and actors, that didn’t take it seriously were spared. But he destroyed a few people with his quick wit , combined with their ego’s. Martin Short is a quick study and comedic genius. He’s Canada’s version of Mark Twain.

While it's true Martin Short is very quick-witted and clever, there's also another dimension to his admirable skill: he's constantly coming up with (and writing down) new ideas, jokes, funny words or turns of phrase, and other comedic stuff that he can "plug in" to various situations as needed. That's the case with most professional comedians: they have a "store" of material they've previously prepared, which can be plugged into various scenarios as needed. It's part of what makes them such good comedians.

@@JellyBabie1984 I was/am a *huge* SCTV fan. I would watch it and tape it and watch it again when we got it in the States. I had articles about it in a scrapbook. But Martin Short wasn't a cast member until the early '80s. He joined...maybe the second season they were broadcast on NBC? I remember he came a bit later than Candy/Flaherty/Levy/Martin/Moranis/O'Hara/Thomas. (I know earlier casts had Ramis and also Robin Duke and Tony Rosato, who were later on some not great seasons of SNL). Anyway! Sorry for that trip down memory lane. @eduardo_corrochio Жыл бұрын
@@m1l1t1am1ke Oh, you misunderstood me there. Jiminy Glick the character is a spoof of several talk show hosts of the 50s through the 80s (like Merv Griffin, Johnny Carson, Dinah Shore, Mike Douglas), but I suspect that a lot of the personality Martin Short did as Glick was based on the demeanor and mannerisms of Merv Griffin. I was not talking about the celebs here that Martin Short is having fun disrespecting playfully. Hope this clarifies things.

Nobody can do what Martin Short does half as well. He's so convincing.

This is The funniest character ever. Unfortunately comedy Central never really distributed the episodes so all the versions you can find are this shitty VHS quality. But in between the interviews on the comedy Central show there were like sketches with his family and stuff so there's a ton more content than what you can find on KZfaq, it's just locked in some mystery box somewhere

Very underrated. I wish he was younger than he is now.
