I think I've said this before but I have never liked System of a Down. Let's see in this upcoming year how many people put them on a pedestal As legendary Artists.. My brother (born in 89) was in the height of nu-metal and he gave off those vibes to me even as a kid. He tried sooo hard to look bad but ended up looking goofy. He moved onto being a juggalo by 2004 so... if that says anything

What I love about this revival is the fact that I bought White Pony album when it came out because all alt chicks at my school loved it and it worked. And now decades later same strategy is still working somehow for young lads. My prediction is that early era Nine Inch Nails will come back next.

I'm 44 and played bass in a few nu metal bands since around 98. Had the dreadlocks, pierced eyebrow, big a$$ cargo pants, sweat wrist bands, etc. I now have a recording studio and continue to write nu metal music.. I just never stopped all these years.

After 38 years I'm finally kinda bored of nu-metal tbh. I attribute this to years of therapy with a good therapist. Korn, Slipknot, and Mudvayne never get boring to me. White Pony is a great album though.

Kids listening to nu metal today is like my time in the late 90s/early 2000s when we liked the classic rock bands of the 60s and 70s. Everything from 20 years before your time become cool again for a while.

Man, I got into nu-metal in like 2006. I was the "has-been" nu-metaller; not even a fan during it's prime, and like you said even if I was I'd still be bashed on. The has-been nu-metaller was so jaded we weren't even made fun of, just judged from a distance. It's amazing to see this resurgence of the genre, which is possibly even bigger than it's time during the late 90's/early 00's.

Where I was at in the 90s, the genre wasn’t looked down on as much as the fans were. Most nu-metal fans were The Dumb Kids. The future career petty criminals. The sniffing Actual Spray Paint before school kids.

I do argue that most of these bands are more butt-rock than Nu Metal, but hey… I’ll take any of this over indie/car commercial/whoa-whoa-whoa/foot stomp lameness all day, everyday!

When I was a death Metaler in high school and could careless about any opinions what so ever, the only thing I vehemently defended myself against was people grouping me in to the Korn, South Park, and trench coat wearing kids. They've had their moments. Especially with the conspiracy theory stuff but. They actually incorporate real fucked up shit in their music. I feel like tons of other bands try to be all dark and shit but Hed Pe are actually what those other bands are talking about. Like they aren't pretentious in being having a screwed up past. Multi-influenced wing bands like Deftones and Incubus are my favorite. Next would be the heavy wing with Slipknot and Mudvayne. I do like the hip hop influenced bands too, P.O.D is great. I like a lot of nu metal.
