APU Compressor does LUFS compression very well. But it adds HUGE latency. And doesn't have de-esser, de-breathe and gate... Thank you, Marlon! Will check this plugin 💛💙

This plugin doesn't compress - it's volume fader riding for the leveling. Only compression process is the de-essing.

@@whitenoisestudio but this plugin writes volume curve after analyzing content and you can render this result. so it is still "compressor" but not the "realtime". Am I right, Sir?

Stricktly speaking no, because compression and fader type leveling are different processes i.e the difference between using a compressor or adjusting the volume curve on an audio track. They both affect volume for sure.

@@whitenoisestudio "Lowering the dynamic range" is just a fancy way of saying "making the louder parts quieter" which gives you a signal that is, on the whole, more uniform in level. Isn't this essentially what you are doing when you manually ride a fader (although debatably less accurate because you could never react as fast or as accurately as a machine)? I thought this is why compressors were invented in the first place, as some kind of automatic fader rider? Only difference is the compressor will give you envelope control so you can shape the attack and release according to your taste. By doing so you can induce some more energy in the performance.

@@whitenoisestudio and some gems from Mr. Gregory Scott (UBK): Some compressors --- from my own experience I'd say the Atomic Squeezebox and the GML 8900 --- have so few artifacts they produce a result not unlike riding a fader. But for the most part, compressing a vocal with a compressor tends to change the texture and density of the voice to a small or large degree. Me, I need both. Compression makes a voice more lush, more compelling to my ears. Fader rides make it sit perfectly on a word-to-word basis. Different tools, different applications.

I have the "non-pro" version of this plugin, which I actually bought a few days before they released this one 😂 I was hoping there would be an "upgrade path" for users who already have the first version, though that doesn't seem to be the case? I even emailed them about it, though there hasn't been a response yet.

Hey Marlon! Hope oyu are doing fine friend. At 1:30 you said something like „needs to listen in real time in order to catch all audio“ then you say „makes sense“. Maybe i am thinking wrong but why do i not find it making sense at all? This would be the equivalent of having to export everything in real time because ,lets say the Limiter cant render faster than in real time.? Hope you get what i mean. My english ….

Because it uses LUFS, which needs some time to calculate the loudness simply based on how lufs works. It has nothing to do with the actual other processes in this plugin.

So if i have (random example) a 20 minute sample that i want to treat with the plugin and export it, will it need 20 minutes? I am literally not understanding how it works tbh 🤔

LUFS in this plugin is used for the overall loudness adjustment like you would get with for instance normalising on youtube and spotify. Its used as an output level setting here. LUFS needs to measure the length of the audio file to determine its value - so yeah if its 20 minutes long - that needs to be measured. In realtime with the plugin, the ARA version does it offline and much faster. That's how it works. In broadcast this feature is pretty amazing since you have to work a lot within cpre determined loudness values and this plugin will help a lot to achieve that. For music, its less of value but still very interesting.
