this is a no brainer Kiive Softube

I think its no contest. The Kiive holds up unbelievably close to the hardware, in my experience. The softube is way too aggressive. Theres a new mod to the Kiive which emulates the Lundahal transformer sheen. Also, when pushing the makeup gain (the "gain" knob on the kiive) it adds a lot of color. Color which tends to make the signal a lot louder, at the same peak level. It reminds me of hardware incredible ability to get perceived loudness while not increasing peak level

For me the Kiive has a broader range of possibilities. Which is good, 'cos I've gone off Softtube since their last ad. And am broke!

How much do you want to bet that Softube put those output level differences on purpose to throw people off doing shootouts?

I tried the Kiive version but I prefer the Softube version and I prefer the Acustica Audio Titan 3 version more than the Kiive version

It's great to have an alternative to the softtube for this compressor, as they have had the price really high on this one for a long time.

I really like the minimal stuff, although their, albiet pretty colour scheme might not do much for the colourblind. I probably won't bother with this as i have the moogerfogger and UVI shade. Im just wondering if this has been stripped from one of their other plugjns such as Current or Rift? That is the case for a lot of their cheaper plugjns

Can EDM tracks benefit from this plugin? Like bass heavy EDM tunes or bass house/tech house?

Could the issue you mentioned of release times being frequency-dependent be solved by putting 2 instances of the plug-in on the track with different release times and different frequency filters set? Or would that make the sound more unnatural?

I have tried to make my mixing template Brauerize style. It was a bit disappointing that the delay didn't appear in this new plugin, as the Grammy winner uses it in this way. In any case, I have already acquired the license. I will try to put it to good use for mastering.

I love UA products but their iLok cloud restriction is a pain! I also have the complete IK Multimedia tapes and they cover enough ground imho.

Brilliant review, demoing this at the moment. Mid-side trick was great! Also, someone said the UAD user interfaces are basically embedded web browsers, on PC at least.

I’ve seen people going into rabbit holes looking for the perfect tape simulation and owning several of these. I was, in my opinion, lucky to have tried the Waves J37 first and loving it because it was exactly what I was looking for. I also bought the Softube Tape on a whim after that, and regretted it immediately (I know some of you like it). Ended up just getting the J37 and opted to just try a bunch of demos of other tape simulations before buying them, just to see what was out there. The J37 does it for me. I also bought the Kiieve Audio Face Tape, because it behaves like an old AD/DA converter and it’s cool to get some nasty tones.

The Native Version is actually a big GUI version of the Luna Extension not the UA-2 version. Everyone had been asking for this plugin since UA went native, sadly they just put their luna extension in a large GUI.

Who said they wanted it simplified? Who? UAD did this for other, probably more lucrative reasons.

Yeah!! it's honestly a disappointment. I bought it with all the hype and ended up surprised that it lacks several of the best features that the UAD-2 version has. Give me the option to choose complex or simple, the plugin always had the option to auto-calibrate, that is not a valid excuse for sell me an inferior version, or are they now going to sell me the extension? I want all the control over wow & flutter and noise for creative purposes!! and the Delay!! By the way, tanks for the Mid-Side tip trick. Anyway... Excellent review regardless, you have a new Suscriptor here =)

I think that the main reason that they removed some features is to bring the latency of the plugin down significantly. The DSP version of the plugin adds a LOT of latency. It would be cool if they released the full version as well, but not a huge deal for me.

For some reasons I can't load recorded sounds inside my Ableton session, it says "seems not to be an audio file" even tho it's WAV, FLAC or MP3, that makes no sens. Is there any trick to bypass the error message?
