Love that you guys cover the often-overlooked topics. I myself use a more direct takeback like Djokovic/Murray. I tried doing the more loopy takeback, but I found that it's harder to time due to there being more movement involved.

Wow! Ian at essential tennis gave reference to your channel and I’m amazed! This is so helpful! I’ve had a 2 hander my whole life and I struggle with cadence (split step, unit turn and footwork) so any more focus on this would be awesome. Thank you so much for this well organized video!!

In the end, just use what you are most comfortable with. I used the number 2 backswing most of my life. When hit correctly, it generated massive speed and spin. BUT sometimes I just missed the timing and I ended my swing with just a "back to the court" backhand with almost no power behind it. Also sometimes I would get jammed at the contact point meaning the ball would just fly up to the fence. I started using more of a number 3 backswing recently and it was a massive improvement. It has not the same spin as I was used to, but on the other hand it gave me much more consistency on my backhand. Idk, it helps me better with timing I guess. TL;DR: Try new things. it might be the one "missing bit" to your full potential game.

Thanks for another video. Congratulations on the work. I would like very much that the same movements made from 8:40 to 9:00 of video were also demonstrated for the forehand (step or progression 1, step 2, step 3 and step 4). Please make a video showing forefand that way too. Thank you.

Just discovered your channel.... great stuff..... I have a topspin two hand backhand.... My challenge is that the ball does not go deep enough. The more topspin I put, the less depth. Can you do a video about how to get a two-handed topspin to land deep? Great channel.... Appreciate how you break things down. Great channel.

Great video but I’d like to know more about the hands during the whole action. Should my dominant hand holding the butt end of the tennis grip lead the direction when both arms are turning, striking the ball and following through like a singlehanded? Or should both hands be more synchronised? Or should the dominant hand leads the turn and your non-dominant lead the contact and follow through?.

Subscribed!! Love the channel!! I'm struggling with the transition from a one handed backhand to a two handed backhand. Could you provide any advice on some tips with the transition? Which two handed backhand variation would work best with someone who's accustom to a one handed backhand? Thanks!
@RacquetFlex
@RacquetFlex 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Shooshi1011, thanks for watching and subscribing! Great question... I've hit with a 1HBH for my entire life and relearning the backhand with 2 hands, one of the biggest things I had to re-find was my ideal contact. You might find that because the 1HBH requires less torso rotation, the contact point of your two-hander is late (too far to your side). In any case, learning how to utilize your torso rotation, non-dominant arm to extend through your shots, and re-find your contact point would give you a great head start. As for the style of 2HBH backswing you should use, I'd recommend the 2nd or 3rd variations. But it's most important that you start experimenting to see what you're most comfortable with. To add, your main focus should be on building the proper fundamentals I covered at 5:58 in the video - and the style you use will probably come naturally. I hope this helps! ~ Daytri

Awesome video! I have a pretty good 2-hander of the 2nd type right now. It can generate good power and spin when the opponent hits it hard to me. What about a video on generating good power and depth on your own when you aren't just returning a hard ball? Maybe on putting away shots with your two-hander.
@RacquetFlex
@RacquetFlex 4 жыл бұрын
Hi InifiniteQuest86, thanks for the support! That's a good point - redirecting the pace of faster balls (especially when you have two hands on the racquet) tends to be easier because you're not generating your own power. Hi awsome. I tell my students to push back the elbow both forehand and tohanded, because then you cannot get your racquet further back. Besides both hands should all the time be in front of the spine.

There is a fourth type of backhand backswing. The one that Norrie uses which looks more like a volley than a true backhand swing.

What about the idea that a right-handed player's two-handed backhand is essentially a left-handed forehand with the right hand mostly acting in a supporting role or guide.

Your videos are great, but there is a big unbalance between videos devoted to forehand and backhand. You should describe in detail the fundamentals of the modern backhand, specially the THBH, which is the most widely used.
