They called them "Black Devils" not because of disrespect. Black - because of the colors they wore. Polish armored units wore black uniforms and black berets. Devils - because it was hard to believe to their courage and the fact that you can be so efficient with less powerful forces. It had to be some demonic power. They were simply afraid of General Maczek's division.

Well yea its about 1 st Polsih pancer division of Gen. Maczek. Division wore black leather coats, uniforms, similar to Germans thats why black. Devils? Well Maczek didnt lose a single battle, only was forced to retret/regroup. They are one of forgoten heroes. Comunists goverment in Poland after WW2 revoke Gen. Maczek Polish citizenship and comunistc propaganda was targeting him and his men. Now after 90`s slowly his legend is coming back. They are famous in Holland till this day...

many antichrist countrys tried to occupy/wipe us: sweden, rusia, ukraina, germans, turks and many others! we disappeared for 123! years from the map (1795-1918) due to annexation! but we came back stronger than ever! we had the best military commanders of the world, one of'em is Kazimierz Pulaski, there are universities and colleges named after him in the usa.. even Napoleon said: ''where others cannot pass ,the Poles will conquest!'' Kosciuszko, Pulawski, are our Patriots who fought for the freedom of Poland and the United States! they were the foundation of the American cavalry at West Point... something about the fellow countrymen where Poles fought there was ALLWAYS freedom! Poland never had any Colonizations, wich country can say that?! ignored, sold, disregarded and betrayed and also robbed for centuries but we are still standing and going Strong!! It hurts me the most when I see coaches full of elderly Germans traveling around the world enjoying life. In Poland, a man who was ready to give his life for his nation wonders whether to buy drugs in a pharmacy or a food. The saddest thing is that the history of Poland is distorted today, for example in Germany. #germandeathcampsnotpolish remember that.

Here's a story for You. During the cold war. Polish army was supposed to invade Denmark. Why? Because the strategy was that with the initial attack on the west, Soviets planned to march form USSR through Poland. They expected that NATO would turn Poland to nuclear dessert to prevent that and as a revenge against planned nuclear bombarding of the West. That's why they planned to create mine field and quarantine Polish army in Denmark, so they won't revolt against Soviets for that. Retired polish army pilots testify that they trained extensively a bombing manoeuvrer that is used only with nuclear bombing. If the III WW started, there would be no Poland any more.

Im from Poland, and i love to study of history! One story of IIIRzesza killed two children. Boy and a Girl. They wanted to escape but they succeeded. And since there was a huge cross (in Poland, but in the German camp in Gdańsk (I was)), then ... these children were hanged for wanting to escape ...

I actually came here for your music reaction to multiple artists but it's nice of you to take a look at our history as well. I can say definitely one thing that may describe Polish nation: "We may fight with each other when there's peace, but where enemy comes from the outside we can organize, move beyond our prejudice, work like hell and we never give up to be independent". After having quite a history up to XVIII century, we lost our homeland for 123 years. All neighbouring countries tried to strip us from our language, identity and tried to erase us from the pages of history, but we prevailed. After WW I, we rose anew and after 21 years, in 1939 someone wanted to take it from us. We didn't give up as well - we're kinda stubborn about that :P

True. We have say here in Poland "what doesn't kill us makes us stronger" and we literally understand this. My best friends family was sent to gułak, his great grandfather was killed in Katyń. My grandmother brothers and uncles and cousins fought and died in Warsaw Uprising. Other one went through three concentration camps. My great grandfather was sent to death by starvation by ZSRR. My dad and uncles fought for freedom for Poland in "Solidarność". This isn't just history for us. That's why it hurts me so much what is happening in my country. We're heading towards dictatority and oppression again...

So basically how this all started was in the late 1700s there were 3 attempts to dismantle Poland (at the time it was one of the biggest and influential countries in Europe) by the prussians (so today's Germans), Russia and Austria. On the 3rd attempt, I believe in 1793, they were successful and as a result Poland did not exist in the the map for 123 years, until 1918, the end of the first World War. Although it didn't exist on maps, our languages, traditions and culture survived which I think is really impressive since poles were being persecuted by their occupants (tho not at an alarming level many places where fine but others were not.) Then world war one happened and Thomas Woodrow (Americas president) handed us our freedom at the treaty of versailles. Whilst we got out freedom back, the borders of our country changed greatly and so now we're only a third of what once Poland was (at one point it touched both the baltic and black seas) and alot of the cities in Poland, mainly the west, are German for example. Then you had the rise of Nazi Germany and Hitler in the 1930s who took advantage of the fact that Poland had only just started rebuilding and gaining strength and the attacked in 1939. Any person that did not fit the ideology of the arian race (blonde hair blue eyes, fit, smart with no 'defects') was persecuted; poles, Jews, homosexuals, the disabled the list goes on. All of these people were either shot dead in the streets or sent to concentration camps like Auschwitz or Terblinka (over 1000 were built) . WWII left us in rubble much of our cities were destroyed like Warsaw, so the Soviets invaded thinking it would be the perfect country to begin setting the roots of communism in alongside the soviet Union itself. My grandparents have so many stories from this time and well, my parents too. The Soviets sent thousands of people to the kulags in siberia and those that they did not send, they destined to poverty and dismay. However poles were getting restless and they started underground movements untill one leader (or president) decided to call in the martial law to get rid of the Soviets in our streets. It wasn't till Lech Wałęsa became president that we saw the end of communism. And some sort of chance at normality. There's so much more to this story I want to tell even though it breaks my heart every time. And thank you to whoever reads this, thank you for letting me share this with you.

I watched The Unconquered many times. And every time, I have goosebumps Also, if you’re not that much familiar with polish history, at least before watching The Unconquered you should know that in 1939 Poland was an independent country only for 20 years, after 123 years of fighting for it, when Poland dissapeared from the mapsof Europe. In over the century there were many uprisings to get back our independence. While certain people from society treid to just do some good, rather than risk everything to try and take back the country, there were just as many ready to give up their lives to gain independence. In 1920, shortly after gaining independence we stoped the march of soviet red army on west. This event is called s miracle, because Soviets were stronger in numbers. So I don’t know did you knew this, but I just wanted to point that. And as always I got s little bit carried away, sorry it’s just that history is my great passion.
