I agree! The idea of creating small airborne droplets of poop when shoveling the blobs of fat is enough to scare the heck out of me. Yes to a filtering mask!

The beep you hear is a toxic air alarm. Like a gigger counter but for invisible gases. The smell is probably horrid, but not deadly or unhealthy. Infact the masks ofen trap and concentrate the smells right up to their noses which usually makes it worse than leaving a mask off.

Definitely yuck fumes lol, but in terms of deadly gas buildup they typically carry those gas meter alarm things on their uniform

It's just a surfactant... all it does is move the grease off the surface. Once the detergent is diluted with other sewage the fat is still there and accumulates.
