I’m in Ireland. We had a long profound drought this summer causing even mature trees to shed leaves. I had to water my fruit and vegetables which usually isn’t necessary. Usually frost around mid to end of October but nothing yet. We are hoping for a mild winter due to the energy costs.

I’m in Texas zone 8a and my gardening location has had over 90 consecutive days no rain and temperatures above 100. We finally got rain and cooler weather and are now a month in to no rain again. I can’t seem to keep a tree or plant alive. I’m loosing the large native oak trees at a alarming rate.

I’m in NJ also. I wish I had known about your channel before! Loved and learned all the videos that I’ve been watching of yours. So far it’s as if you are talking to me directly! I am a new fan!! Do you have any advice for seed ordering? Where do you shop? I’d love to know. Do you ever use beds? Opinion on wood chips? How do u make your leaf mold? That’s all for now, 🙏
@iamorganicgardening
@iamorganicgardening Жыл бұрын
If you scroll down in the video description you will see links to 3 seeds company I use. Yes, use wooden raised beds and also 8 inch tall ground raised beds with wood chips pathways. Making leaf mold is so simple. Just make a pile 1 foot tall as wide as you want and as long as you want. At the end of your garden and add water to start and next year you will have leaf mold at the bottom. NATURE does all the work.

Used the plastic over the netting and it works great!! living in southern jersey zone 7a, my spinach, chard , kale, and romaine lettuce are doing just fine. Being new to gardening since this past April, I was/am super encouraged!! When I saw that the temps were dropping to the 40's, I ran to cover my lil tender greens and it paid off!! Thanks for sharing!!

Whenever they predict lower 40F in combination with no wind and clear sky, I know rhere is a good chance for frost at ground level. At least overhere in Holland. Happened last night, last tomatoes and some artichokes really got a hit. Just keep in mind that in general forecast temps are done for the 5 feet high level, not for the 4 inch above ground level. Garlic planted the other day, I will continue to plant spinach that may end up as frost teminated cover crop or an abundant harvest later on. The weather overhere varies wild during winter.

THANK YOU so very much for all this information. On a different note I understand the government wishes to buy 600 farms Now?
@earlshine453
@earlshine453 Жыл бұрын
@@iamorganicgardening Traffic, industry and agri sector produce large amounts of harmfull types of Nitrogen. Dairy, pig and poultry farming is large scale in Holland and most (nitrogen rich) feed is imported from abroad. In order to reduce the amount of Nitrogen emissions near areas that are oversaturated with these emissions, they are still compiling a list with farmers that emit a lot.in the wrong location. A lot of political turmoil did arise around the strategies needed for the reduction. It seems that only a few farmers are willing and able to end their farm, due to age and/or no new farmer avail to continue the farm. That's the low hanging fruit that is likely to end their activity voluntary in exchange for a big bag of government money. The majority of the "polluters" will be a hard nut to crack, a lot of them are not old and did invest heavy in their farm (with a lot of financing by big banks). Not only the banks are part of the problem, a lot of other jobs are dependent on the farming activity. Also the government is very short on cash. It will take quite a few years, a lot of money, and long legal battles to end unwanted activities.
