Thank you, we love Scotland ☺️ It is so wild compared to where we live. The children love it too, although they find walking through our Scottish woodland a lot more challenging than the one at home 😁

You really have come so far. Anything worth having is never easily won. Everyone has their challenges on or off grid. Just put your best foot forward and little by little life gets easier. But the challenges are ever present. It's just that you will be more able, with all the new skills coming your way, to solve those challenges. All the best while you figure it all out. Look forward to your next vlog 😘

Do not give up! Youve come so far with valuable life skills attained along the way. Its been a tough ride which will get easier. Im curious as to how you grow your own and plant, etc. I would love to have a tour. Water shortage is a challenge but you'll overcome it. You two are very creative and thats something everyone is lacking now adays. I pray for your family's wellbeing. Love from hampshire

I just found your channel and have subscribed, having watched now most of your video's its so refreshing to see how you have progressed with a simple aim / view on what you want your lives to be! I wish you all the luck in your new endeavour in Scotland and I look forward to seeing your progress. your children are so lucky to have such a wonderful upbringing and to have such wonderful parents! you should be proud of what you have achieved! I too am looking at off grid solutions as the pinch of corporate looms overhead. keep doing what you are doing, it is inspiring!

@@The_OffGridFamily yes, but the 4 year rule will be around a lot longer in Scotland than England, build a timber forestry building, make it a basic dwelling for holidays…. Then you’ve won

@@livingoffgridinscotland I agree. At Peaton Glen, we had two log cabins, two teepees and lots of campsites with no permanent foundations. There was always someone in permanent residence, and we were always engaged in woodland maintenance tasks, justifying a permanent presence in temporary dwellings.

@@JoesWebPresenceare the cabins not restricted to very small measurements?
@JoesWebPresence
@JoesWebPresence 10 ай бұрын
Not as far as I know @@EmmaMG21 It just has to be a temporary structure, which means no permanent foundations, and being able to remove it when you are done. The idea is that you have a right to dwell on land that you are working on, but no right to change its use to residential, so this way it remains forestry land. You'd find it hard to argue the need for a massive luxury getaway, especially if very little actual woodland maintenance was going on, but It's common for people to use caravans or porta-cabins for this purpose, and building your own log cabin or teepee from timber harvested on site makes a lot of sense. Also, if one is too small, why not just build another? Have a cabin, a teepee, an outhouse and a summer house. Even some on site power generation can be justified, so maybe solar, wind or micro-hydro. Responsible water and waste measures are also completely justified. People are entitled to be there to engage in forestry and woodland maintenance, so they have every right to meet their basic needs while there, no matter how long it takes them. They just can't build a permanent dwelling.

Is that the Arochar alps in the background? Many years ago I was part of a voluntary woodland maintenance project nearby at Peaton Glen, near Coulport on the east coast of Loch Long. We were off grid there for years. Lots of rhodie bashing,f boggy areas, paths and planting. I believe it's still going in some form, and might be worth a visit, for pointers on how to overcome the challenges of off grid living and woodland maintenance in the conditions you have over there.

Thank you very much for your help by means of vlogs. The system I’ve build is pretty much a copy of your system. Victron Quattro 10kw. My knowledge concerning these installations is below sea level. But your vlogs really helped me, and more importantly, provided me with courage to actually do this on my own. We live in Spain, so we definitely do not have a lack of sun, but there are many other challenges to overcome. Unfortunately there are tragic moments in everyone’s life. How to cope with these tragic experiences in life, is so much depending on the individual. What works for one, doesn’t work as well for the other. The same for the impact these tragic experiences have on someone’s life. Some are up and running in the same routine after a short time, and don’t seem to be bothered with the new situation. Others will carry scars for the rest of their lives, and change the way they are living. It seems there is no right or wrong in these challenges, as long as you are content with the choice you make. Only you can decide which way to to go. Just follow your heart, but somehow I have the feeling .that you already did in the past. Just remember that the both of you inspired a lot of people like me to follow a similar path in life. Thank you so much! Wish you all the best! Edwin

We still have the woodland in Lincolnshire which we grew ourselves and which is where we live. This is a piece of land we bought earlier this year. We had money left from our house sale and chose to spend it on this land as we felt inflation meant our money was decreasing in value 😩 Fraser is half Scottish, so it has always been a dream of ours to own land in Scotland 😊
