Nearly three decades ago, an Atlanta area police officer with just one year on the job, responded to what he thought would be a routine call. Instead, it led to a lifelong friendship. One that survived an arrest, a murder conviction and prison time. Correspondent Jessica Gomez reports.

The officer wife is a good woman, most wives wouldn’t support her husband decision to help a person like him. So I want say thanks to the wife for supporting her husband decision. They both are good people.

People in society would label him as a “killer”. Others would see a man who has been “living in forgiveness” is for all . A great example of compassion. 💯

Don't tell me that God doesn't have good people . All it takes is one person because you don't know what a person is dealing with the in life. To stick with him for 3 decades? He could have easily gave up on him at anytime. Thank you officer I pray there's more like you God bless you. I'm in tears!

This is what America is really like, not the purposely divisive garbage we see in the media and hear from corrupt government officials. By and large, we all get along. Not saying there aren't problems we need to work on, but it's not this raging hate we're lead to believe is going on. I see respect and compassion from/towards people every day, and try to live that myself.

I think it's a fantastic story of how a friendship can survive between two people whos paths crossed and even though they were different as one was on the right side of the law they now are on the same path. What a great story. Thank God he saw the light and had the strength to turn his life around with so much against him with circumstances etc., to contend with.

I met a black person at a public place, he told me has a nice job but used have troubled past. I told him I have meditated a lot but maybe his life probably taught him more than I learned with all years of this meditation. I told him if time had crossed our paths earlier I could have convinced him to stay straight. Today I meet this man once a while who is having a good job I see such greatness in him. This man is a magical man I think.

This is a very respectful and appreciated video but once again race has to be brought into it and I can't stand that. It should just stay a criminal and a cop became friends and that's it simple.

I hate the way the brown man put his family out there like that when people like Dr. Frances Cress Welsing And many others like her told us about a system put in place to keep his family and it legacy he stated under the friendship but he really should’ve talked about his family like that
@birdieorourke5507
@birdieorourke5507 Жыл бұрын
He told the truth probably. Warts and all, I bet he would not have sold drugs if his family life was so good. He would probably never have killed either if his rearing was better. So maybe being honest is half the battle.Stop lying, sugar coating or pretending your happy when your blue! Be it a white or black family background IF your on the wrong path and you know you are and you desperately want to stay on the straight and narrow .. then, don't feel your doing an injustice in calling it as it is. Now having said that...there are families who reared their children well and children went astray due to bad company, bad influences and it was no reflection on the family. So try not to judge him as he knows more about his family dynamics than we do.

He lived his truth. It's his story to tell. And he actually can get kids he mentors to relate with him better doing so.

He doesn’t owe his family shit! “He shouldn’t have talked about his family like that” …? Maybe his family shouldn’t of exposed and raised him amongst such horrific dealings. Stats don’t lie. He’s keeping it real. And by doing so, helping others along the way. Good on him. He didn’t mention their specific names or specific crimes. Maybe they’ve bettered their lives too..? Who knows. But he’s proud that he’s broken the stereotypical cycle and so he should be. 👏🏻
