Today we watch as Poongko plays against the greatest Street Fighter player of all time, Daigo Umehara at Evo 2011. In an amazing match we get to see just how far Poongko can take his character Seth in a bid to win the tournament.

Poongko beating Daigo's OP Yun was glorious. I miss these days of SF, hopefully SF6 can deliver with some hype moments.

It was. Especially since Daigo fleeing Ryu to go with the most broken new character felt like a betrayal of his image as the ultimate consummate pro. And maybe if we could get some great fan content to go along with SF6 it'll increase the hype overall. Part of what made SF4 special to me as a viewer (I've never even played it but I was a fan of SF2 in the arcade and on SNES) was following along with shows like Cross Counter live and Excellent Adventures (of Gootecks and Mike Ross). The personalities, the passion, the humor, and of course the games made the 2009 to 2015 period epic as a competitive fighting games viewer. SF5 and its contemporaries didn't quite capture that same magic for me (DBFZ was pretty hype at least) but maybe SF6 will do better.

this was such an awesome moment. also something else to note, daigo abandon ryu in AE because of how strong yun was. it was VERY contentious and people didnt like it. he was figured to sweep basically everyone. then this happened...

It's always so funny when people don't realize daigo is and always has been a tier whore, he just leans towards shotos primarily, then anybody with a solid fireball game after that. But he will just go with a top tier if all else fails

@@drattyg8099 sort of. During the lifespan of sf4 he also said he would play zangief if he just wanted to win but found his game plan boring. so he doesn’t play something he doesn’t find fun at the very least.

dude,i still go back and watch top 8s from the sfiv days. My first EVO i attended was in 2012, and the SFIV era of fighting games will always hold a special place in my heart. I should probably dust off my fightsticks

I remember my friends and I taking bets on who would won. Long story short, between four teenagers, no one won the bet cause we all just assumed Daigo had that, and we were so hype and astounded that it happened like this. I don’t Daigo has gotten clapped that bad since.
