As Mark's biggest fan, this was a very fair and correct portrayal of Mark's career. I would add he released an EP, also called Innocent Man, and has 3 tracks with Crooked I, and a second track with DMX (R.I.P) also. Macklife records was created on the mid nineties, and has released some songs in the last couple of years, such as Portugese beaut Rhea Sun. Mark has opened his home previously to help under privileged Leicester youngsters free studio time, and has suggested a political career, as he works hard to prevent knife crime. A man who has now found God, and a very nice bloke to converse with. I however, still long to hear all of his Deathrow work, with the sampler from Touch Magazine not enough to keep me going. Mar

Hey man, glad you appreciated the video! All KZfaq foolery and Big Mac jokes aside, I've got the utmost respect for Mark and his legacy. Personally I think he got given a pretty rough time from the UK press and the whole second album fiasco must have slowed his career down in some capacity. Always going to be a legend in my book man!

I remember Deathrow Records UK branch in the early 2000's, it had something to do with Ron Winter as his logo appeared on some UK pressings of Deathrow albums at the time. There was never much info about Deathrow UK around the time apart from that Mark Morrison was signed to them and he had a few songs with Daz Dillinger that never really got played anywhere. I would just like to add that the UK did not finally establish its own sound with Garage in the late 90's/early 2000's...the UK had already established its own sound with Breakbeat Hardcore, Jungle and Rave 10 years earlier...sounds that filtered down into Garage in 1998/1999

Few people have mentioned his name now, so he must have been linked. Like you say though, there’s not a lot of information to go off. If you weren’t there and didn’t buy the records you just wouldn’t know stuff like that. I was like 5 so I had no chance 😂 And aye I know what you mean, I probably worded what I meant wrong. My point was garage was getting more mainstream attention at that time than a lot of genres previous you mentioned. Promise I’m not an ignorant young divvy 😂

Actually mark did a whole album with deathrow, which will never be leaked or realesced , cause nobody knows who he is here in the US. In other words it would be a flop album, but he was featured on few daz songs to get him known

I always thought the whole RWP thing was, DR were dead, buried and broke so the European rights for the catalogue were purchased and they reprinted everything and put together compilations of old music and remixes to make some money off the DR name. I remember Mark Morrison on Daz’ RAW, which I still bump today

Good comment and well broken down. The UK had a distinctive style and sound years before any of this Death Row talk in the early 2000's. Important point to make though the average American music fan may not have been aware of this at the time.

@@joeyjoey1154 If the album was 'innocent man' then I believe it was leaked and I think I may have downloaded it at the time. Im not sure if I kept the best track and deleted the others. @@shakagod3779 Thanks Shaka. I think Mark was one of those guys who despite his obvious talent and despite the fact that it brought him wealth and pretty much worldwide success with Return of the Mack in a very quick time...Mark was always gonna be that guy who was for want of a better word...a 'road man'...as I guess the kids would call him today. He just couldn't quite leave the ends behind...and it's dealings. A little like So Solid Crew a few years later. Obvious talent...but ostracized by the mainstream press...so thus their career did not last too long on the mainstream...pretty much like Mark. This is of course only my opinion looking from a far...so I could be totally wrong. All I will say...is on the night I met him all those years ago...he was an absolute gentleman. Peace and love.

@@randomvideosandfunnyshit yeah I heard him live in summer of 94 when he played at a nightclub in Reading! He got booed off stage as he just performed “Crazy” 7 or 8 times with slight variations each time lol! Not arguing with his talent, but I wasn’t overly impressed that night

Why does he have an American accent? I know he moved to Florida but he doesn't even have a trace of a British accent
@RIDEMusicYT

Idk man maybe felt he needed to if he wanted to break into that market further. Plus the interview featured here is from like 2001 so who knows if he’s dropped that accent now. I can’t imagine it though 😅

@@RIDEMusicYT yeah id be super curious to see if there's any footage of him talking with a leicster accent xD either way, seems like he just really wanted to disown his britishness (kinda like some early hip hop rappers took on american accents), making it all the more ironic he was the only signee of death row uk. thanks for the video and the response!

I’m not sure about that but there is a U.K. film maker whose made some of the biggest documentaries about it. In fact, I’m sure that’s where that Suge jail interview clip comes from. Can’t remember dude’s name though
