Very happy you got to enjoy Florida and New Orleans during a time of no threats of hurricanes or floods! I've found New Orleans to be an interesting combo of European, Caribbean and Southern US in terms of culture and vibe. If you ever return, please don't miss touring the Cabildo Museum- the Spanish-era city hall where the Louisiana Purchase itself was signed AND is currently a fascinating museum detailing the building of New Orleans and Louisiana itself with all the different groups of people each adding their own spice to the gumbo! Oh, and it's on Jackson Square- right next to the Cathedral! BTW, have you enjoyed having to retrain yourselves to think English instead of Metric in terms of measurements, temperatures,etc.? IMO, it's more challenging than going back from Euros to US Dollars especially since it's not all divisible by ten but each standard has its own rules &regulations! Great having you all back with us for the Holidays and I hope you all have fun your loved ones until your HUGE jaunt to the Land of the Rising Sun! Thanks so MUCH for sharing this part of the journey with us (and is Miss Noa starting to try to talk?)!

glad you are having a good time coming back to the US. New Orleans definitely does food right. I keep telling people that leaving the US, exploring the world, and then coming back, makes you see your own country differently. well worth doing. especially for the "america is the best country in the world" crowd. gives them something to compare it to.

this video is a good example- there is not better or worser food in different countries (use icecubes or not). Its all about in which country you was born and raised. even if you like a lot of new tastes you find in other countries, you will always miss some tastes from your childhood

I remember visiting those places (touring the Everglades in Florida as well as seeing the French Quarters in New Orleans and taking a river boat cruise on the Mississippi) during our trip through the southern US States in the 90s.

Yes, you definately pronounced "beignets" right! :) So good to see you in the US - and it might be important to meet a part of the family again before heading to Japan. I guess you won't be able to travel a lot when settling down there. I keep my fingers crossed for the date of the Japan beginnings, so that you won't stress out with packing and cleaning up in Germany.

As you travel so much, you get to see so many different cultures, habits, places etc.. Please go on communicating, which things make more sense in which country so that the good things may come to more places one day: For example the free refill of water in restaurants should come to Germany, too. On the other hand the huge sizes of sweet soda cups in the U.S. could be discussed etc.. Just one example. Go on, bringing the differnet parts of the world together and have a lot of fun! I'm not sure when you went back to the US, but I'm here now for a family Thanksgiving. There are some very unique differences between Germany and the states. I miss either country when I'm in the other. Germany will be in my heart forever. Can't wait for the next video

In Florida you can train for the Japanese climate. Very hot and humid in summer. And even more toys and electronic gadgets.

Lots of choices at Target et al. Except for BREADS, real cheeses and luncheon meats.

Since you did mention not having to worry about having to pay 3 or 4 € for a single beverage, what about the prices for the meals !? I can't remember you mention this. Of course it can not be much more than 10 to 12 Dollar per meal. That would be just redicoulusly expensive then.

Would you rate the standard of driven in the States compared to Europe? Some say the standard is abysmal stateside. Noa smiles a lot! I wouldn't fancy meeting up with an alligator!
