A fun idea might be that in the final fight smythe uses fire or sound to incapacitate venom, BUT not eddie himself. So now eddie has to defeat the evil robot with his brain and not just muscle. That way we see how venom and eddie are as a duo. Both bring something to the table

Maybe I'm crazy, but why not just have Carlton Drakes true motivation to be him having an incurable terminal disease. He lies about wanting the symbiotes to leave earth or help people when all he wants is use one on himself so he can stay alive. Its extremely simple (less characters needed than having the son) and makes can make him sympathetic and relatable.

One thing I have to say: The best part of the finale was Tom Hardy superman punching mr. billionaire in the face. I would have been fine with the symbiotes being driven out by the sound temporarily while Brock and Drake beat the living daylight out of each other.

Carlton Drake was supposed to be Norman Osborn. If you think of him like that, and the Life Foundation as OsCorp, then you can see that Venom is copying Spider-Man's origin.

Someone who is entirely focused on robotics can totally have an interest in symbiotes because studying life forms (even better, alien life forms) could help him build amazing super robots! Imagine a robot that could attach to a human in the way a symbiote does, it would enhance the human's capabilities and solve many problems related to creating robots, like simulating human emotions, etc.

Having rewatched the 90's Spider-man tv show recently, everytime you said Smythe the line "You have failed me for the last time Smythe" would play in my head. Too bad Kingpin isn't part of Spidey's gallery.

Idea: Alister Smythe is a biologist or geneticist and gets hold of a part of venom. He develops a version of Anti Venom he bond to. This could lead to him discovering the truth about his father and help fight against carnage towards the end of the second film, kind of like a better version of Spider-Man 3’s ending

They should do a ragnarok style final battle but at like an outside concert so they could have play really loud music so venom would be at a disadvantage. Plus it would be a chance to play some bad ass music which is always a win

Venom's villain problem is very easy to fix, make the villain Scream from the comics. Another Life Foundation symbiote with a yellow color pattern who we see once in the film (So you can distinguish the two between the final fight) have her be immune to sonics, give her a sonic dagger from the comics or a soundwave screech hence the name. Cool design, interesting character, and that way we don't have to make Venom fight another big dumb dude in a mech suit like every superhero movie in recent memory, a big dumb mech is no better than a big gray villain in my eyes.

I would say that Spencer only manages to steal Riot while the other Symbiotes are kept by the Government. Riot kills every test subject exposed to him until he is bonded with the proper host. That way the other symbiotes are alive for the sequels and sets up their future battles with Venom which could prove to be interesting if done the right way.

I totally did have the thought “damn, another big grey villain” when I saw this movie

I love this, I'm a huge fan of the Smythes in the comics, especially Spencer. If you read all his stories in the books you get this very clear and concise arc of his descent from this pretty respectable scientist (originally Jameson hired him!) into madness and villainy, and just as it's about to get dull he dies. Comics go on so long that it's rare to see such a contained character arc - I think it worked for him because rather than bringing Spencer back (like with most villains) they introduced his son. I'd love to see Smythe in a movie, even though it likely won't happen.

Jeez, you never cease to amaze me with these edits. Almost every time you say what you’re changing (especially when you switch characters around like this) I look at your suggestion and think, “nah, that can’t work. After the amount of time this channel has existed, this is finally the one where he gets it wrong.” And every time, by the time you’re about halfway in you say something that completely floors me with how perfectly your change fits and how much better it would work out. Honestly such incredible ideas from this channel.

I liked Venom, but I felt like it could have been better had Carlton Drake been written better. Disappointing, cause Riot's design looks awesome, but Drake's motivations seem very...not there to say the least. I have to wonder if the 40 minutes of footage cut from the film have something to do with why the overall plot feels all over the place and Carlton's motivations aren't clear.

ok sounds decent but I think I would keep the symbiote versus symbiote arc and instead fix carlton drake up and change the rest of the over arcing way the story happens. I think it would be cool if they stayed closer to the source material and also made scream the main antagonist from a physical stand point. It would be pretty awesome to watch eddie and Venom have to fight through all five of the other symbiotes. Id also get rid of the whole invasion subplot. It just doesnt make sense from a in comics stand point instead Id set things up like this. Carlton Drake is a natural disaster survior. He was put in a situation where he chose to kill other people to survive years ago now he acts as the poster boy for his own survivalist company and is currently dealing with making space suits based off anti-radiation technology his company had been devolping. One day he gets called up by Nasa or someone and they introduce him to the symbiotes thinking there some sort of alien material and unaware there alive Carlton is allowed to run expierments on them and finds out there sentiant which he covers up. Flash over to Eddie brock whos a reporter whos down on his luck. He somehow stumbles on the big secret that carlton drake was a murderer and somehow manages to get a interview with him. The interview basically goes down like it does in the movie and Eddie ends up fired and homeless. a few months later he decides to take revenge on Drake so he sneaks into the life foundation and starts vandalizing the place. Venom then latches onto him without him knowing and the cops show up and arrest him. He ends up in a jail cell with Cletus Cassidy(AKA carnage) and that allows for the set up for the sequel its just a small scene but maybe we could have eddie talk about his life story and then Cletus talk about his and utterly suprise Eddie with how messed up and psychotic he is. Eddie gets bailed out by Ann. anyhow at this point most of the movies second act follows the same pattern with the slight alteration of Carltons body guards wearing symbiotic enhanced suits without the face portion though to keep things secret. After Eddie and Venom adjust to each other they realise they have like goals. Eddie wants to get revenge on Carlton drake and Venom wants to take down the other symbiotes because there in his territory. So the two of them hunt down the other symbiotes one by one. I think this would be better because it turns the movie into more of a revenge quest instead of a straight up super hero stick and makes Venom really more of an anti hero. The movies climax is Venom fighting Scream in an attempt to get to drake. We can have Scream using the sonic dagger she used to kill the other symbiotes in the comics on venom. anyhow Venom throws Scream out of a window or something and assumes shes dead then closes in on Drake then Scream shows back up one last time holding a bystander hostage Drake is standing right next to an elevator and the open door trying to close adds an element of tension to the scene. At this point the cops have showed up and theres a news helicopter broadcasting. Eddie is forced to decide whether to take down Drake or save the bystander. we get a bit of arguing back and forth between Venom and brock then they decide seperate. Eddie rolls and grabs a gun that was on the floor and shoots scream while her mask is off then Venom bonds with drake and kills him. We have the scene that happens at the end of the movie about the same and we change end credits with Cletus to him breaking out of his cell.

You use great context clips. They always help me visualize what your movie would look like. For example when you had red skulls right hand mans clips used for the toy man in your justice league rewrite. Definitely makes a huge difference in how I view these rewrites.

I think what could really help the fight with Riot is giving Venom a unique power, or something. Riot could make those spikes, and I think it would be interesting if Venom could make "Webs". venom can do it in the comics and you would have to explain how he can do it in the movies, but it would at least allow for a more dynamic fight between symbiotes. Venom makes webs, Riot makes sharp objects and for the next movie, Carnage should just be allowed to make basic weapons.

The anatomy of story by John Truby, and Story by Robert Mckee are probably the best screenwriting books out there. They are a must read if one wants to look a movies under a more objective light.

I LOVE THE VIDS. For real, the editing is minimalistic, which I love. The arguments are strong, passionate and one of the things I like the most is how you talk. A big problem I have with this type of vids in KZfaq is the monotone many have. There's something i'd like to tell you. It's not a genius idea but I think the new villain in Avengers 4 is Thanos' father, Mentor. It's the only new name Dropped in the whole movie by RED SKULL IN VORMIR (not yelling, enphasising) and the guy is an Eternal, maybe he will be a Celestial like Starlord's father which to me makes sense. It would be a nice way to unite the origins of Thanos with someone who he has an emotional and family connection.

oh gosh you have such a great idea! furthermore, adding to how riot could treat Spencer, you could have him starting off as a person on the science-nerdy side, and not the human interaction kind. so that we know that he can't really tell when people tricks him (like how Sheldon can't tell if people are being sarcastic). and even better, you could have him be even "dumber" when Riots lies to him, so to show that, he's "blinded by family". he's full of trust and love.

Went to see it yesterday and my reaction was the exact same, it was an awful movie.....until Eddie gets Venom, after I was certainly entertained until the movie ended.

Me: Well at least they can’t mess up Carnage! Not even Avi Arad could do that. Avi Arad: Venom 2 will be Pg13 and be about Invasion of the Symbiotes. But Carnage is going to be the main villain. But seriously how do you mess Venom 2 up that much, when Venom 1 JUST came out!

Imagine the movie starting with the scene with Drake and the little girl to make it so Drake had the symbiote from the start, his motivation to get the symbiotes would be to because of Riot. Completely skip everything with Annie at the start and just show Eddie getting fired and Annie being pissed off at him. Then have the scene in grocery store with the woman given Eddie the tip. The scene in the bathroom after he get's venom should be Venom saying " hungry" and Eddie passes out, before he wakes up we get a flashback/dream showing thousands of symbiotes on some alien world.
