Epic list! Only one I have is the Vision R and I love it!! The only thing I (and everyone else) was worried about was the spine mounted clip but it honestly works perfectly just takes a lil getting used too. Fantastic knife

SOOOO many of these knives are absolutely gorgeous but that Factor was something else, something different and new in a good way. I am a knife collector myself but I'm also a poor college student so my collection isn't anything wild. I've got a few vintage Kershaws that my grandfather gave me and a Leek (which I love) and a Schrade 6-0T. I would cry legit happy cry if companies sent me anyone one of these amazing pieces. Hopefully I'll be able to keep saving up and get one this year!! At least the Pyrite or WE Knife Vision series, those look mad sleek and reasonably usable in my edc. Great content all year man and can't wait to see what comes in 2023. Cheers, Alex

Love my Lamella, and agree with it being on the list. It's a beautiful knife and so well made. The Russ though, that's what I REALLY agree with being on the list. It's one of the few knives in my collection where I'd go out of my way to replace with the same knife the moment something happened to mine. It's just so damned good. A bit boring by comparison to some, but the utility of it is on point compared to alot of the more exciting ones. It just does everything right. Wish I could get my hands on the others, especially the Winter Blade, but maybe I can find something in 2023 lol

Pretty crazy! I bought my first hinderer Xm-18 recently thought spydercos and benchmades were great. Nope that is where you really see the difference in fit and finish!

Have you handled the new Varga Knives VBR V3? I just got mine with dark matter fat carbon scales and I have to say that he knocked it out of the park again. Since I've gotten my VBR V3 it's quickly become my favorite "bigger" EDC knife, replacing my Chaves 229 tanto and my Hinderer XM18 3.5". Def wanted to say something on here about it, they are crushing it over at Varga Knives and I remember finding out about Varga Knives through your channel when you reviewed the VBR V1, so I wanted to make sure I thanked you for pointing me towards them, as I feel I have found the perfect knife in the VBR V3

There was a knife a few months back, I think it was from WE knives. The video featured like 3-4 knives coming out from them. The one I can't find again it remember name of had purple timascus parts and had a ball bearing clip. Do you know which in talking about? Might not have been WE but that's what I think it was.

If they re-released the Vision R with a normal pocket clip (not on the spine) I'd buy one. Would be more comfortable in hand and provide leverage for middle finger flicking

My fav budget knife of 22 is the knife center Pyrite exclusive with the black micarta and titanium bolsters. I love that knife. I won't use it yet until I get a backup. Wait........that may be a 2023 knife.

The Rike is by far my favorite of all the knives on this list. I wish I could get one myself. Apparently some of the best knives are also some of the most dangerous biters lol. My favorite EDC carry is a XL Counter Point which literally almost murdered me lol. And it didn't take much. I was sharpening it and had it laying on my thigh of my shorts when my cat decided to jump up where I had just used a hot plate to make a pot of coffee. Not wanting kitty to get burned I intercepted her and my knife fell from my thigh and stabbed me deep in my calf hitting a bleeder. I was leaking dark blood so fast it completely soaked up 3 rolls of paper towels and I don't remember how much toilet paper I ended up using. I ended up having to take a nap with my leg elevated and the wound packed with toilet paper and sealed off with duct tape. I live way out in the sticks and I don't normally have anything to do with doctors or hospitals so getting sewed up wasn't an option. I really do think I was close to bleeding out. Those XL Counter Points are definitely biters if not handled properly. The Rike story obviously brought back fond memories of my favorite big folder. That's an awesome collection of some really nice blades in this video. I enjoyed checking them out.😊

I feel like some categories might help: Best budget ($500): Brown FSD Most innovative: Winterblade Factor BEST OVERALL: Winterblade Factor Proud to see the Grambeau Russ get runner-up as an Aussie (Kane Grambeau is Australian), even if the complete lack of left handed compatibility rules it out for me personally. Speaking of left handed compatibility, I'm still a little annoyed that Brown basically developed their own left hand button lock, then made it right hand carry only.

I dunno man, I really like that grambeau russ, but checking the site says their oem is bestech. Have a d2 bestech knife that pretty clearly had a bad heat treat. Softer than a really thin vg10 chef knife I have by quite a lot. Just makes me nervous buying their stuff again. But it is a pretty damn perfect design imo

I saw that CKF Rotten Evo 3.0 with the DLC coating, and immediately went to Ebay. Picked a new one up with a 30% markup on it. Sorry, not sorry! 😂

I only own 1 knife that Rike makes and that is the Hummingbird. I own it only because it was supposed to be a gift to my grandson but he didn't like it so it ended up in my hands. I also have the Sharp By Design mini tempest and I love it. I've always liked the Russ but up to this video, I never knew the name or maker of it. Lmfao. now, that I know I'm gonna have to try getting my hands on one of them especially if they're coming in under $300. seems like a super good deal for a beautifully designed/made knife and love the see-through pivot. just wish it was a flat grind instead of a hollow ground blade. Edit: after checking their website I see the per-order for 2nd run of the Russ is sold-out. 😥😥😥. hope they do another run. 🙏🙏🙏

17:20 I think it’s time to step back from that “us vs them” mentality. Over a decade of collecting, I think I’ve finally found the ultimate balance of quality, beauty, and value. My favorite genre has evolved from domestic customs to designed in USA, made in China. That’s the Apple way… and look what they’ve achieved. Look what our best designers have achieved in collaboration with Reate. It’s a win, win, win relationship. Has anyone ever stopped to think for even a second, what could be achieved if the two most powerful countries in the world actually worked together, instead of bickering over every single little thing? The military and economic might of such an alliance would be undeniable - not by any nation, not by all other nations. Scary stuff!

Not saying I necessarily think the factor is bad and I certainly agree that it’s quite different. However, I think any new proprietary technology is always subject to a few years before all the flaws can be discovered/figured out. Not sure how the thing is built but I tend to think magnets especially may have some flaws. For one, you might not want it near electronics or anything metal for that matter if your trying to protect your knife from unnecessary wear and tear. There are any number of other possibilities that might end up causing problems or annoyances with this kind of knife. I will reserve judgement until other people have been able to long term EDC these things.

the safe way to disassemble it is to put tape over the blade beforehand

I think this was right on lol, other than I would have included the McNee’s Mac 2 3.5”. I love that knife. The clip leaves something to be desired but there are fairly inexpensive aftermarket milled ti clips available. I could narrow this down even further to the Pyrite, the Factor, and the FSD. Top 3 of 2022 for sure.

I just returned the We Vision R today. The knife was awesome, yet right out of the box, the lock mechanism really hurt my finger after just a couple of deployments. I find the Demko AD 20.5 far superior!
