Always love these kinds of videos. Packaging consistency is something I always love, and seeing even subtle shifts like format and company logo placement changing drives me up a wall.

I only sporadically buy DC Animated movies (mostly on Black Friday sales) and I really don't like that my copies of Long Halloween part 1 & 2 have that DCU spine branding and I'll never complete the entire picture.

A year later, it looks like they've given up on the spine art looking at the Crisis Part One Blu-ray...

It's the same for their graphic novels too. Messing up the spine should be a federal crime...

This is exactly why I praise that I work as a graphic designer and I can design myself and print a replacement covers for most of my blu-rays. I've been collecting "Doctor Who" and this show was a spine mess. Not only the design, but they also could change the box, from regular plasting one, to a paper one with plastic traces. A nightmare.

With the power of hindsight and Legion of Super Heroes since out, basically they messed up by ever putting those logos on the Long Halloween BDs, and if you remove those/replace with the deluxe LH, then you’re back to consistent spine art. As long as DC doesn’t do this mixup again!

I personally think the 4K version of a long Halloween got delayed and is getting pushed into 2023 that’s our best case scenario the worst case is it got canceled without us knowing it. Partially because of the discovery purchasing Warner Brothers media.

Could someone potentially figure out how many movies this series was going to have by comparing the font to the DC Universe to the size of the Blu-Ray?

I steered clear of the connecting spine art with DC because I knew they would be inconsistent lol. they were so tempting though

Hate that they are doing them across all of the animated movies. If it was just across the connected films it would make more sense to me, but I will likely not purchase many of the standalones unless I really like them, but even if I do I would probably put them on the shelf separate and keep the in continuity movies together in chronological order. So even if I did have all of the movies, I don't like the fact that I have to stick Soul of the Dragon, a standalone movie, in between Man of Tomorrow and Justice Society which are directly connected.

Fantastic video! So I made the mistake of getting the 4k version of Green Lantern and when I got it I was so confused with the spine art. I thought I had missed a release. I can’t see myself picking up the Blu Ray version just to get them to match but I may have to. Also I was looking at the Long Halloween Deluxe Edition on Amazon and it shows there is no spine art on the side, oh boy.

I thought it was cool they included Doomsday with The Death and Return of Superman since it's another version of Death of Superman and being the first DC Animated movie.

Also another thing that is stated on the commentary track of the superman man of tomorrow the Batman soul of the dragon is set in the same universe as superman man of tomorrow and justice society of America.

they've actually gone insane, it seems even though they feature the same art piece for the spines on the UK releases they're also inconsistent, this is a series of blu-rays ive recently began collecting myself, i started with The Long Halloween Parts 1 & 2 and noticed they had connecting spine art which made me want to collect the lot, however ive just noticed something. on your copies (US) Green Lantern doesnt appear in full until the Beware My Power spine and only his ring is visible on your copy of The Long Halloween p2, however on my releases (UK) Green Lantern is visible in full, and his ring is only visible in Part 1? I also noticed that on your copy of The Long Halloween part 1 that Aqua Man is visible and centralised to the spine however on my UK release of the same film he seems to of been shifted a few CM to the left as his head is not visible and would only be on what i assume to be the Justice Society WWII spine which i dont own yet, its crazy how they cant even stay consistent with spine placement lmao.

This is an absolute mess with no consistency I have no idea what's going on with these spines for the new ones.

It's a shame the Mystery of the Batman Blu Ray wasn't included in the Batman the animated series Blu Ray set.

Dc comic be like you actually bought the physical copies?! Lol purchase them digitally.
