By now, when modern audiences think of Aquaman, their minds immediately go to Jason Momoa's turn as Arthur Curry in the DCEU's Justice League. Though this wasn't the first attempt at bringing Aquaman to Hollywood. Back when Smallville was dominating the small screen, talks of giving Reacher's Alan Ritchson his own Aquaman show started to pick up steam. Though they got close on several different occasions. Alan Ritchson would never suit up as Aquaman in his own standalone show.

Smallville as a show was ahead of its time. Still contend that it's probably one the the best screen adaptation projects of Clark Kent/Superman. One of the best portrayals of Lex and Clark Kent.

Man I loved this pilot in the day. I remember being so hyped for Aquaman on Smallville, which was so well done. I think if they had kept Alan and made it a little closer to Smallville it could’ve been huge

Another weird tidbit: apparently due to the Aquaman show's production, Black Manta was renamed Devil Ray when he appeared in Justice League Unlimited. Funnily enough, the character was voiced by Michael Beach, who also appeared in 2018's Aquaman as Black Manta's dad. I certainly hope that was the reason why and not a major coincidence.

I do think, given Aquaman's resurgence in popularity, I think Aquaman as a character has some potential, granted I don't know if a live-action show would really work. I do have to say, since Alan Ritchson has expressed interest in playing Batman in James Gunn's DCU, I wouldn't mind him playing a different DC character like Captain Atom, Wildcat, or potentially returning to play Aquaman again, I don't know I think he could do a good job in the role again as a more mature and stoic Arthur Curry

I don't think he would be a great choice for Wildcat. He is too young and in too good of a shape to be wildcat. Captain atom could be a good choice tho or maybe someone like green arrow or booster gold would be best because Alan ritchson is a big guy and he can play a very funny character like thad from blue Mountain state.

When I first heard about Aquaman was getting a series natural I thought it was Alan. But when it wasn't Alan I thought to myself what was the point of making this show. It wasn't even a spin off it was it own thing not connected to Smallville.

Mercy Reef was on track to change TV as we know it. Rocking out to Downfall by Trust Company in the intro. I’ve watched the pilot so many times it’s real to me. Justin Hartley was amazing. That said, James Gunn bringing the 3x larger Alan Ritchson in as the new DCU Aquaman would be the biggest boss move ever.

They should have an Aquaman being hinted at in a show or film, like surveilance photos or something youbcan barely see at a distance. But visible enough that you can tell it's Alan Richtson. But then when they finally reveal the caracter it's Justin Hartley!

Hot take: this is the dumbest super hero ever. Every version of this character is bad and it is hilarious this dude keeps showing up in movies that don't even have shit to do with water. Like, how is he going to fight someone in the middle of NYC? Does he keep little water-filled piranha balls he can throw at someone? No? He's just really strong and sarcastic? Wow, what an impressive array of formidable abilities. 🤣
