The Vevor 30 Ltr Pressure Pot Conversion for use with Resin

Pressure pots for painting are half the price and do the same job and as I discovered some companies buy these paint pressure pots from companies like Vevor , do the quick 5 minute conversion then double the price.

Wood turning can be a dangerous hobby. My videos show my methods of turning and if you do not feel comfortable with my methods please do not copy them but rather use a method you feel comfortable using. I bought the small silver paint pot from vevor and did a similar conversion. I had to cut the pick up tube off mine in the end as well. One thing I would say is the wing nuts only need to be hand tight as long as the seal is clean, you might just want to clean yours after that grinding just in case. I've seen someone replace the wing nuts with standard hex nuts so they can use an impact driver, no need IMO. All the best, Dave

Cheers Dave, I was unsure how tight to do them up as it was the first time I had tried it. Next time I will just do them hand tight and see how it goes. I will indeed clean the seal after the grinding, it is something I did not think of, thanks for the tip. Shay

@@BBTurning I'm going crazy, Shay. I've apparently burned out a switch or something on my lathe. The motor winds but the spindle won't turn. I'm going to put my belt drive Rockwell into service for now and see about having it repaired. What I really want is to buy a brand new one though. What is the model number of your Laguna?

Another good video. I made a lid out of thick Perspex so i can use my pressure pots as vacuum pots as well so if ive got punky wood or even if there are voids it will pull the the air out and fill it with resin. If it is punky wood it pulls the resin in and then makes the wood rock hard again.

@@BBTurning you can use the chamber you have but just need the parts for the top and some neoprene self adhesive and pick up a vacuum pump. The vacuum chambers tend to be smaller and therefore harder to get decent size plastic buckets in.

Have watched a few turners who converted paint pressure pots for resin. Harbor Freight company here is the US sells the paint pots cheaply. Easy conversion process. Great informational video .

It is very easy to do Jane and very cheap which is why I am shocked that certain companies do the same conversion and double the price because the pressure pot is now for "resin". Shay

I think the difference in price is purely market driven. On the whole, people who "do" resin do so as a hobby - indicating that the hobbyist has some spare change around to feed his/her habit. Other folks are involved in the actual production of upscale merchandise with considerable profit margins... i.e. a business. So either way, companies catering to the hobbyists/artists are pretty sure their customers will go for plug and play ( maybe not the best analogy in this case 😉) and pay the price. And... not all of us are handy with mechanical confabulation. Cheers, Mate!

Great point Michael, it is what we used to call price gouging, people who can't do something that takes five minutes are willing to pay well for that thing to be done and the companies are more than willing to charge them well for doing it. Shay

I bought a California air tools paint pot and contacted them about a conversion kit. None was available and all I did was to cut the stirrer shaft off and now I have a really short shaft on mine.

Shay I bought the smaller Vevor pressure pot all I had to do was remove the pick up tube. It took a large pipe wrench and a lot muscle to remove it. I am sure you will enjoy it. I look forward to the videos. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks Alan. I tried something like that off camera with a vice and a vice grips bit no luck so I just cut it as you saw in the video. Hopefully it won't be too long before I get to actually try it out properly. Shay.

Ok Andy, the main pot is 320mm or 12 1/2 inches wide and 380mm or 15 inches tall. The internal stainless steel pot is 290mm or just under 11 1/2 inches wide and 350 mm or 13 3/4 inches deep. Shay

@@BBTurning Mine arrived today, will be doing the conversion on Monday, exactly the same as you I believe, ordered direct from Vevor. All inspired by your video! If you happen to know for sure if it was an M12 bolt you used please let me know as I can then get it in ready for Monday. Thanks again for the advice, Vevor should give you a commission.....
