Yeah, that's bout the age a kid may start thinking he wants to go to college n play football. Thus far , really watching, learning, and paying a lot more attention to current QBs... When you're younger you just wanna go out n play, not really learn everything it takes to be QB or any other position... Also, when you're really young, how much do u truly remember.. Yeah, u may remember them in general playing, but not actual the playing of the person or people ur watching... So at 13 Yeah your still growing up, and it makes sence what he said... Everyone is like growing up, WHAT, it total makes sence if u think about it....

If I were the Jets I’d probably never draft another qb… ever! Only the Browns/Bears are consistently worse at evaluating talent at that position… just pay for one who can for sure play! The Jets are annually terrible even tho Rodgers was out all season, that was the most hope/excitement they’ve had in over a decade! Drafting one of the kids that came out in this draft was still a gamble, no such thing as a CAN’T MISS prospect anymore… how many top 5 qbs have been busts! Trevor Lawrence has played well in Jacksonville and folks are already talking “is this year make or break?” None of the Jets selections have even experienced that much success before 😂 Sanchize made some conference championship appearances and was still viewed as a bust!? F it! Go the free agent route! 👌🏼

It's incredible how different the national perception is from the fan base that follows the team closely. I think it's more likely that McCarthy never starts in 2024, than it is for him to start in week 1. Everything that makes the Vikes a good place for McCarthy to succeed, also makes it a good place for Darnold. Darnold is 4 years younger than Cousins as when he arrived in Minnesota, and his record is not disimilar. In fact Kirk's first 3 seasons at Washington were arguably worse than Sam's first 3 years at the Jets. Kirk was looked after behind RGIII, not thrown in the deep end. Folks seem to dismiss Darnold - he's 26 - the same age as Justin Herbert and Kyler Murray, barely starting his QB career, but folks seem to cluster him with 33 year old Geno Smith and 31 year old Jacoby Brissett.

I 100% agree, the way I see it we have huge upside whichever QB starts so why would KOC throw JJ into the deep end until after we see what we got with Darnold. the only way JJ starts week 1 is if he does something insane during training camp and preseason.

Yeah I agree. No one within the Vikings fan base is thinking JJ will start week 1, yet national media seems to think he has a chance and will. QBs that sit have seemed to turn out much better than those who have been thrust in to the spot light right away. Even if darnold is bad, the vikings may still have mullens on the roster who can take over as well. Developing a QB takes a little time, and I am glad to here that it sounds like KOC isnt going to get bullied or pressured into starting JJ week one unless he hits all his milestones and beats out darnold

People like you just love to hate and for what?😂 Darnold been in the league for a while, he’s a vet and he knows how the league is, I have no problem having JJ sit behind him so he can learn. Not every rookie QB has to come out hot right out the gate.

4 or 6 he was growing up watching the QB’s that impressed him! He also watch Tom Brady, the Mannings!!! I bet they put him in sometime of the first week or game to let him understand a bit what pro football is all about. It’s ok if other rookie QB’s get to play from other teams it doesn’t make J.J. Any less of a QB. Nor does it make the other rookie QB’s better! It’s how the team needs you and when!!!

Then I thought bout it all, and 13 would be bout he age you start to pay more attention cause u are figuring out that u may want to play n college or even try for the NFL... Therefore a kid would pay more attention and try learn by watching current QBs while still finishing growing up from a kid to a adult... I don't believe the vikings will be a playoff team this season. So, obviously they might want to give jj a few games, because he is their future. Darnold i expect will probably start the first 6 or 7 games, then after that we might see another backup, and then by week 10, i think jj will be in there.

People miss the plan of the Vikings. Even if JJ is playing better than darnold he won’t start until they think JJ is completely ready in a vacuum. To get the start he will have to have everything mastered, theyre willing to sacrifice this season to develop him to the best of his ability.

The guy was sacked 133 times in his first 50 starts in the NFL. That's not counting how many pressures he got. Few NFL QB's would play well under those conditions. He will surprise a lot of people with how well he plays this year.
