so i’ve been on a royal carribean cruise and became friends with a lot of the staff and basically. for every section of the ship, the crew members are from different countries. let’s say everyone in the dining room is from india and everyone working the starbucks is from the philippians. and people from jamaica running the beauty salon on the ship. these people sign on to contracts to be on the ships for months at a time while them and their families get paid. they can choose how long they want their contracts to be

but i’m not defending royal carribean. they’re quite the evil company. they hire international employees because they are able to pay them less based on their country laws

Me too. The longest I've done is a 15 day. It was too long. 10 days is good for me. And I get the balcony.

I did 9 felt like that was good. Might try 12 southern carribean but that might be my limit.

I wonder how many are retirees/semi retired people. Because with the prices of senior living, it’s cheaper to literally go stay on a cruise ship. Honestly these prices for 9 months, with all these amenities, could be cheaper than whatever they would be doing off the cruise ship.

Your experience is valid but I don't see the point comparing the two realities: you chose to live in very uncomfortable environment and are paid to do that, they paid to go on a long term cruise with luxury prices and are only one month in. I'm trembling like a leaf under two blankets right now because this month I can't afford to put the AC on, yet when I'm on vacation in a nice hotelroom I refuse to be even a grade too hot/cold for my likings; the point is if I'm paying for it you have to provide it. Adaptability is a wonderful resource to have but it's not something you would expect to need to achieve while paying that much for that long.

Anything below that standard is something that devalue the cruising experience
